Sky are having a ‘mare…

We begin with an early deadline this week as Villa go to Saints in what can only be described as an odd choice by Sky to bother pulling it forward to Friday night and then actually screening it.

Saturday kicks off with the game that should be on at 4.30pm on Sunday (the Manchester v Salford derby).

We often mention Jeff Stelling on here when it comes to the Saturday 3pm games and with good reason because he is a legendary presenter and his show has been one of the best inventions since the PL (football) began. He has also been poorly treated by Sky since this whole pandemic thing began. Initially shorn of any games to actually present they then decided to strip him of all his ‘mates’. The very people who made the show what it was. And he’s finally had enough…

Hopefully there is a grand plan for him and his team and he will pop up presenting the old format on a new platform next season.

This week he has been left with Brentford v Norwich, Chelsea v Burnley and Palace v Wolves.

BT were clearly at the same drinks party as Sky when they all selected this week’s games as they are showing Brighton v Newcastle in the 5.30pm game. *shakes head*

Sunday 2pm seems to be the new Saturday 3pm as we have 3 games at once with Arsenal hosting Watford (on Sky… no words left), Spurs going to Everton (just slightly more interest in that one all things considered, Sky people?!), and Leeds v Leicester (even that looks entertaining on paper, Arsenal / Watford certainly doesn’t!!!).

To be fair to them all West Ham v Liverpool at prime-time 4.30pm does sound tasty, albeit it is probably Saturday night tasty, with pizza, with said Manc derby in this slot.

And that’s where it ends for a couple of weeks as we now go into yet another international break. Stay tuned on FF247 though as we shall be trialing a few new articles during the break.

  1. Best GK going forward 5.0 or under? De Gea? Made some great saves today. Or stick with Sanchez?

    • If only MU’s def would shape up.

    • De Gea was a shambles at City’s second goal.

      • That’s putting it politely

      • He also kept the score line down tbf. The goal was more Shaw’s fault I thought as a keeper you would expect him to deal with that

        • As much as I’ve called out Shaw to all who will listen recently because he’s been poor for so long, the gk still has to stop that. Keepers often have to react to their own defenders making errors.

        • It was a complete horror show by both of them! Shaw should have cleared it, and also De Gea should have saved it, the ball went in so slowly, one of the worst keeper mistakes surely this season

    • I may have a look at McCarthy. Ramsdale also appealing. The Liverpool game doesn’t put me off too much (in terms of save points). If Steele looks like he’s going to be the one may just bring him in as goalie 2. De Gea would appeal if he was 4.5.

    • Saving for Newcastle maybe. Not the worst game to have next.

      But perhaps the Brentford boat has sailed now.

    • It was nice of them to wait until he won a game before calling in the hangman of Calais.

    • I don’t think it will make much of a difference!

  5. Is it worth using a transfer to replace Sanchez or just stick with Foster for 3 games? Definitely don’t want to do a -4 for a keeper as I already planned transfers to get Son and Kane

    • May need to be adaptable and just get one of Son or Kane.

      I wouldn’t – and don’t plan to – play without a goalie for three games.

        I wouldn’t be playing without a keeper, I’d have Foster in goal though I don’t expect him to get above 1-2 points for the next 3 games

        • Sorry misread Foster for the Southamton guy, Forster.

          Just stick with Foster. No need to amend your plans then. May get him myself, nice and cheap.

    • It’s 1 game ban is it not?

      • Dunno. I assumed three without taking the trouble to check.

      • The FPL site has him suspended until 27th of November. It appears to be just one game.

    • why 3 games? Sanchez misses only 1 game. Tactical foul not horrible tackle

    • It seems it is just one game, no need for a transfer then

  6. Who’s the best replacements for Sanchez and Pickford?

    • Guaita is also worth a ponder. I’m somewhere in-between him and Ramsdale at the moment after having engaged my brain.

      • Depends what happens injuries wise during the international break

        • Perhaps it should be called ‘international leg break’.

          But yes: I’ll put out the Sanchez fire if my other players come through the break unscathed.
