Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 15

If rotation didn’t bite you too hard in midweek then it may do this weekend, but as we mentioned in the GW14 edition of this particular article, which nobody ever bothers to read anyway (if you do, say ‘xG is King’ in the comments), this is just a taster of what is to come in the weeks ahead. And perhaps a little reminder of why having a squad as fat as your turkey may be wise over Christmas.

We have 5 games on Saturday and West Ham welcome Chelsea in the early one at 12.30pm. At 3pm Burnley go to Newcastle to see how the other half live (same as them as it turns out), Saints and Brighton have a bit of a derby, and Wolves try to keep the score down against Liverpool. Watford then try (lol) to outscore Man City at the Vicarage in the late one at 5.30pm.

2pm on Sunday is fast becoming the new 3pm on Saturday as we have 3 games again (all seemingly untelevised) as Leeds host Brentford, Palace go to Man Utd and Spurs get angry against Norwich. No idea why they get angry, it just feels like they may have to.

The late one on Sunday sees Stevie G, of Liverpool fame, possibly giving Brendan, of nearly Liverpool fame, some slippery nightmares.

Everton and Arsenal bore us to death see us out on Monday at 8pm.

The games in full…

Is Dennis really got a call-up for Nigeria? I am reading all sort of news – it seems Dennis told that he is not interested to go for AFCON (probably because of personal ill-term with Nigeria coach – who can also be sacked).
If Dennis stays, is still King a better choice? I do not expect Watford to get lot of PKs.

      AFCON doesn’t start till January 9th, there’s still 6 GWs before then – I wouldn’t consider that a factor

I’d still prefer King. It’s not just the pens he’s the one playing through the middle up top. He also has the much better attacking stats. Dennis has been really good but two of the big hauls came late in the day against United and Everton when they collapsed

      • GoalMachine says:

This is the problem I am seeing. Everyone is occupied with Stats and that way King is much better and having higher XGI. Dennis is over-performing. But the FPL truth is that, Dennis is taking away all the points. I assume we should keep it simple, pick attackers in hot form and get rid when they cool down. I have seen some top managers even doubled up with King+Dennis.

Same thing happened with Antonio and Bowen. Antonio had superior stats and performed Gw1-3 and then he did not perform at all even though stats were there. Bowen took away plenty of points. Now the second wave of WHU is coming – managers are still not sure (including me, got both) and have the dilemma whom to pick.

        • Smash says:

Yep but they are the same price now. Like I said two of Dennis hauls came when United amd Everton collapsed. Not just this but the points Dennis got were in the last few mins. That’s a freak. Also it’s about predicting future points not past points. It’s also not just stats if you look at positioning King is the one in the box with Dennis out wide. Then add the African Nations into play yeah it’s 6 weeks away but do you really want to use a transfer on swapping your Watford forward

      • Stone Frog says:

I think it depends what price you have Dennis at, if 5m or just over then he’s a great season keeper, could even just bench him if he went to Afcon. Now he is a bit closer to King’s price though.

Will a premium forward step up today? I’m starting to wonder if I actually need one

4-6-0 seems to be the best formation this season…

We are having the FOMO. I got Kane, but yet to get any return from him. In the process of fitting him, sacrifices are to be made elsewhere. I guess Vardy is still ok as he is low-end premium, Lukaku is mid-end (and not yet match-fit), but Kane and CR7?
Unless we (C) these premiums, I do not see much advantage of holding them.
Having said all these, my normal planned move has been Kane to CR7. But I have started rethinking if Sancho/Rash/Son etc. are better value. Need to check when Salah will be leaving for AFCON, what are the (C) options.

      • GM, definitely one big fat FOMO with the help of so called “experts”
Like a bunch of effing parrots choosing the same captain every week. TBH it ain’t fun any more.

        • Stone Frog says:

At the moment it’s a case of don’t blink first and don’t be tempted to go elsewhere.

        • Smash says:

What exactly do you want them to say back the player that is constantly blanking. Or perhaps back some random player over Salah who is the best player in the league, in the best attacking team, has over 50 points more than any other player in the game, double the points of all the other viable candidates, only blanked once all season. So yeah you want to bet against that every week. I’m sure it’s doing wonders for your rank. Yet the majority of time you spout this sort of nonsense every week and captain him yourself anyway

        • I am not spouting anything and it’s not my opinion only, many others think the same. Of course Salah is the best player, from FPL view, but there are some gameweeks when other players are with a better chance for a captain choice, this week for example. It’s only a game, and it needs variety to be enjoyable.

        • Smash says:

          Just trolling again more like

        • Kralin says:

It’s best to read Ivan’s comments about Salah – he (Ivan) has past form, he used to do it all the time with Aguero, using exactly the same words – as a weekly cry for help.

It is wearing, though, bordering on unbearable at times.

        • Smash says:

          Oh dear it’s so boring

      • Stone Frog says:

This is a good point regarding the Afcon period. I have both Vardy and Kane and it’s not helping my OR! Will likely switch to CR7 and Antonio over the next couple of weeks.
