Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 17

It’s a quick turnaround this week with a midweek fixture fest to get us right in the mood for Christmas and the chaos ahead. This one spans three days from Tuesday to Thursday and then we begin again on Saturday.

Tuesday itself sees three games, all spread out slightly. with Brentford welcoming Ralf and his new spangled clean sheets at 7.30pm, Villa going to Norwich at 7-47pm before Pep and Bielsa have their usual cuddle at 8.

Wednesday looks relatively uninteresting, if we are being brutally honest, with Brighton v Wolves, Burnley v Watford and Palace v Saints all at 7.30pm. Just say you are washing your hair or something instead. Arsenal v West Ham should be a bit more lively at 8pm. It’d have to try hard not to be.

Thursday looks tastier with Leicester (maybe) hosting Spurs at 7.30pm, Everton going to
Chelsea at 7.45pm and Liverpool reminding Eddie that he isn’t allowed any trees this Christmas at 8pm.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek XX from all at FF247!

This looks like a second seson with so many covid disruptions.
Surely by now FPL would have thought of some emergency measures, like an extra WC or free hit or whatever to help unknw

It’s the same for everybody. I see no need for another WC!!

Some of us still have their first WC smile

Funnily enough Ivan, this crossed my mind last night. Maybe they should have built in something like 6 free Covid transfers that we could only activate if a game was postponed. Would have at least made the whole thing a bit more fun / interesting. Although I guess they’d have to have an imagination for something as ‘maverick’ and innovative as that!

      • Kralin says:

They could call it the booster chip. If for a captain a Nightingale chip.

Imagine the questions that would engender – Salah is self-isolating, should I play my first booster or Nightingale it?

      • That sounds spot on Init.
They might catch up in January, when the second WC is already available laugh

      • KI says:

A good idea. It would take some of the unfairness out of the game. When the ppd games are replayed, even those who randomly benefited from the cancellations can use the rescheduling to “double dip”.
Ideally you’d like to “freeze” players so only those who originally held them could gain points on the rescheduled games. A bridge too far for the FPL beetlebrows?

        • Kralin says:

I susepct all we’ll get – and fairly, given the game is a freebie – is a free wildcard from whenever the game starts up again.

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if more than 50% of the games go ahead this weekend. The current R rate is >5 and infections are doubling every other day. We’re already at an insane level of infections. I suppose if most players get Covid between now and Christmas then things could start up again later in the month / January, assuming various things that probably won’t happen.

Maybe Covid will miraculously avoid most footballers (and fans (and people policing the games (and stewards (geezer who turns on the floodlights)))).

One point* from Smith Rowe seems like manna from heaven, a miraculous gift, in the context of my GW so far.

I feel like Watkins’ owners last night, just in a more understated manner.

    * bit more now

What’s the chances of Leicester V Spurs being off tomorrow?

      Kralin says:

No idea at all. Your guess is as good as mine. 50 / 50?

Depends on how many players / staff have Covid. We didn’t know this time yesterday that the Watford game would be called off. The infection rates are extremely high in London at the moment, this is from the FT:

Wonderful. Guess where I’m going at the weekend….! And also to a gig on Saturday night, which will be rammed no doubt. bye

Fortunately I’m suffering some sort of weird combo of being world weary of it all now, having spent all of ‘lockdown’ at the coal face, and also being triple jabbed anyway. Plus I’m relatively young, healthy and very fit. I’m alright Jack and all that, I know. But…

Basically, I’m well aware of the dangers, I’ve done all I can to negate them, I’m fully aware of the ‘test-case’ scenario that has been played out (rather insignificantly) in South Africa, and I’m happy to crack on as is.

Plus I’ve really, really been looking forward to finally seeing The Libertines live! rofl

People are definitely running scared again though. The roads have been noticeably quieter once more and the gym was pretty much empty earlier, having been near full last week.

        In other words; Bliss laugh

If we could scrape a game or two tomorrow, consider it a bonus.
At this rate, the weekend looks like millions of light years away in the unknown.

It would suit me if it was off. I’ve got a massive 14 points with James and the three Liv left and everyone has those

Wow Antonio is so annoying but looking at the fixtures now I’ve got to hope he hits some form
