Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 2

GW1 went off sans drama, no last-minute cancellations, no Covid drop-outs, no ad-hoc midweek games, no nothing really. And GW2 begins roughly a week later. Dare we say we could almost be back to normality?*

*touches wood, wishes on a stray eyelash and looks for a four-leaf clover

As for GW2 itself, we begin with two GW1 losers as Villa welcomes Everton at 12:30 That’ll be a cracker…

If you are still awake at 3 pm, then there are actually some intriguing encounters to behold as Leicester goes to Arsenal. At least it is that way around or else seeing Arsenal’s players subjected to the Post Horn Gallop in training would have been almost reminiscent of a scene from Guantanamo Bay. And yes this is too good not to be a regular feature of LMC. Reference All or Nothing if you haven’t got a Scooby what we are on about. Reference Hanna-Barbera cartoons if you don’t know what a Scooby is and work your way backwards.

Anyway, enough rabbit holes… Brighton hosting Newcastle also looks tasty, from a purist’s POV anyway, whereas Man City vs Bournemouth looks scary. At least for the latter. Saints v Leeds should be good, as will be Wolves v Fulham before we have our first relegation six-pointer of the season as Man Utd go to Brentford in the later KO @ 5:30 pm.

Sunday begins at 2 pm with another pair of GW1 losers as Forest welcomes West Ham. The showcase game does look like a cracker at 4:30 as Chelsea and Spurs clash in the Antonio Conte Derby.

We then have our first Monday night game as Liverpool welcome Palace at 8 pm. Enjoy the game week everyone!

The games in full…

I predict mass early wildcarding with less pool assets yes

What a mess of a GW! All week I was going to do Rashford and Kane to Rodrigo and Haaland and then realised Rodrigo in caused benching problems (what exactly am I expecting from Pereira?!) so instead I got DaSilva, who I then benched, so that I could potentially grab Darwin for Jesus next week. Suffice to say that’s now not happening either! Why do we bother planning ahead again?! focus

The prices are going crazy, Nunez is going down in price already!! and a lot more on the way down, as well as up check the prices site help everyone hit the panic button by the looks of it, that red card was like a grenade being lobbed into the FPL.

oh dear. woke up this morning hoping to see a goal-fest from my Captain Salah & new recruit Darwin.

the week has gone all pear-shaped

had already made an early trade of Bailey to Rodrigo and was thinking of a -4 hit to do Trippier to James.

Dalot and Neto to deal with as well. I can see a WC coming .

i’m usually one to hold my WC until late and just take a few hits. Maybe an early season WC will be good.

Hey mate – I’ve got a Nunez-shaped hole in my team as well!

I like you, have already made a trade from Sancho>Martinelli. Have been looking at WC possibilities, but it feels way too early! Might just go a -4, Darwin>Mitro = a total of 4.8 ITB, allowing me to fix up other areas (like White to Cancelo + Bailey to someone decent! Or maybe Diaz for Liverpool).
It’s endless! But I quite like the sense of humour of the FPL gods, promising so much from Darwin during the game (about a zillion shots and hundreds of chances!) and then RED!!!
This week is gonna be fun, but I don’t think more than a -4 is necessary!
See you dude! Hope Sydney’s still Sydney! (Love that city!) 😉

      • AJW says:

Or maybe I’ll get in Awoniyi, as Cancelo + Diaz would leave me with just 5.9 for a striker. Which is exactly his price. If I get him (+ maybe Cancelo) this week, I can get in Diaz next week without too much hassle (and loss of points). Cheers matie! 😉

        • AJW says:

In fact the more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to use my WC!
Got some sneaky moves I want to execute, taking me over the -16pts hits, so maybe worth it?
          See yah round! 😉

        • RedKev says:

I’ve used my WC this week to fine tune and get rid of my punty players. I’m always happy to do it early as also think it’s the best time to take advantage of price changes.
Do you think Diaz warrants an extra £1m over Walker? I was going for Diaz and Gabriel but then thought Walker and Saliba could maybe get similar points and afford me Andreas to Rodrigo ….& a bit of a benching headache!
What moves are you looking at for your WC?

        • AJW says:

In fact I meant Liverpool Diaz. Was thinking of trading Nunez, Bailey, Salah & White for Mitro, Diaz, KDB & Cancelo. Have already done Sancho to Marinelli. I’ll have to think about the other possibilities.

        • I really want KDB. Will mean going super cheap in defence

      • Sydney’s a bit cold, but it’s only a few weeks away from footy finals, means winter will soon be over.

I’ve hit the WC button. So unlike me.

So much tinkering to do this week.

    Hi all, bench one from:
    Mitrovic
    Dasilva
    Rodrigo

    Reg83 says:

Is Bowen to Kulusevski a good move for some Spurs coverage? Spurs fixtures look nice and West Ham look poor.
Could also get Diaz, Foden, or Saka but that would mean tripling up with these teams.
