FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 2
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 2
We hope that GW1 was kind to you, but worry not if it wasn’t, as GW2 is upon us already. This one begins on Saturday lunchtime with Liverpool hosting Burnley and hoping for better than the 0-1 defeat they managed last season. The big change this season is the return of multiple 3pm Saturday games, and what a welcome relief that is. We have FOUR of them this week with matches at Villa, Palace, Leeds and the Etihad. Saturday ends with Brighton welcoming Watford at 5.30pm.
Sunday should be fun as Manchester United go to the Saints who they had much fun with last season, Nuno gets an early return to Wolves and then Thomas Tactics gets to further nail Arteta into his inevitable Arsenal coffin. (Editor: Bit dark that, even for Init!)
We depart GW2 with our first Monday night game of the new season as Leicester go to West Ham, could be a cracker that.
The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 2 from all at FF247!

Reg83
Bad luck as a Lukaku owner. Could have had a big haul of 13 to 16 pts were it not been for save of the season by Leno.
Season keeper for me. Finally a proper no 9 in the premier league to challenge the wingers and attacking mids
Gear
Kane is already there
Loud Atlas
Well, he’s a number 9 who wears the number 10. But plays intermittently as a number 6. Then, I heard today, as a number 2 he dallying too much on a throw-in so got a yellow!
Reg83
Yeah. Thats what i meant by proper no. 9
ings, bamford, dcl, antonio are proper no. 9s but nowhere near the level of lukaku.
Veer
Evening fellas,
Hope everyone is having a good GW.
Any advice here? Don’t know how to bring in Lukaku without tearing up my team. Would likely have to sacrifice another big hitter, thoughts on Toney >> Lukaku and Salah >> Jota?
banjomaker
I’m not sure I like losing either Salah or Bruno, but unless you wildcard and downgrade throughout then that’s the only option.
Reg83
yeah difficult to get lukaku without wc or losing salah bruno. I guess wait out the next gw as liv away as tough as it gets.
i sacrificed salah and kept jota to get in lukaku. Was on WC this week
Wafflez
Chelsea fixtures isn’t looking great until gw7 .
And it was Arsenal they played,, I’m not sure there are such a big hurry to get Lukaku unless you have an easy way to get him
Otieno
Maybe Dias to Amartey this week. Then you could do Barnes to ESR next week and have the money for Ings to Lukaku, and keep Salah and Bruno.
banjomaker
I feel like I’m being backed into a corner here. Can someone please talk some sense in to me? All along my plan was Vardy to Lukaku as soon as he’s playing. Now he is (and he’s firing!) he could rise tonight screwing the plan, unless I press the button before Vardy has even played! I’m also a sucker for team value and I hate that I’m set to lose money on Stones and White. Do I…
1) press the button tonight and do Vardy to Lukaku
2) hit the WC button and sort out Stones & White, plus others
3) ignore, forget about getting Lukaku, accept a dip in team value, and do nothing
Thanks.
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
I would do 1 (assuming you’re priced out of it if either alters) and definitely not number 2.
Gear
3, I don’t see the rush on Rom. He fixtures are horrible and he isn’t that consistent
Reg83
fixtures horrible yes.
But I dont see too many CHE without Lukaku involvement. He could have easily had 2 g, 1 assist today were it not for the Leno save & Havertz poor finish. Everything seems to go thru him.
Reg83
*too many chelsea goals
Wafflez
Don’t forget that it was Arsenal they played.
Reg83
i would say play wc in gw4 as lukaku plays liv away next.
Little Red Lacazette
Your plan was to do Vardy to Lukaku as soon as Big Rom was ready.
Your spent some time thinking about this in preseason and made up your mind.
I would stick to the plan and do it before pricing out forces you to do things you did not plan for.
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
Excellent answer.
RafflesHotspur
Nail on head
Stone Frog
Vardy plays Norwich next. I think I would hold for that, especially as Lukaku plays pool. I would pick Vardy on those fuxtures, you can always raise funds in a later week.
Stone Frog
I should also add that you may have 3 non-playing defenders plus Stones who is not nailed. So you may be best to do a defender move anyway.
banjomaker
Some very wise words there. Thanks everyone.
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
Two bonus points for Shaw?
Surprising but welcome
Little Red Lacazette
Otieno
Ings captain for next week ?
Or maybe Antonio ?
Smash
I’d go Antonio out of the two. Ings has scored two goals but really has not been great
Reg83
I am torn between Antonio or Son.
Of ings & antonio, probably antonio. brentford are yet to concede
Little Red Lacazette
It is between Bruno & Antonio for me.
Smash
+1
IvanTheTerrible
Yep, Bruno the away games master, to make up for today’s blank
Reg83
wolves do look decent though.i expect at best a narrow win for ManU. Maybe 1-2
banjomaker
Bruno for me
Smash
Two free transfers and I am really struggling with what to do. Mahrez, my defence as in numbers is an issue though Livramento looks a solution. Toney and Ings are potential problems soon too. Here is some random thoughts
A) Greenwood, DCL and Livramento in for Mahrez, Toney and Tsimikas
B) Lukaku and Gray (two 8 out of 10s in Liverpool echo) for Ings and Mahrez
C) Just Livramento in for Tsimikas
D) Better options
Special Agent Dale Cooper
A is tempting for sure but C is most sensible rolling two frees to next week.
The fact Mahrez will probably start against Arsenal (given he was rested from the start yesterday, if that is any logic to go by given Pep) sways me to option C.
Little Red Lacazette
For gw3, you have just 3 defenders as it looks with White & Tsimi probably out.
C looks the best. Ings and Toney can wait. Mahrez could do well against that Arsenal D.
Smash
I think Amartey gets dropped tomorrow too,
Stone Frog
If so may be Amarty to Livramento.
IvanTheTerrible
SF, why Livramento?
Duffy makes more sense. If you remember, before the start of the season I mentioned that he could be the new cheap BHA fifth defender for us. He had a good season at Celtic while on loan and should be nailed on.
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
Ivan
He was god awful at Celtic and even their own lot were disgusted by him.
I mean laughably bad.
Smash
Yeah Duffy will lose his place at some point. He might even be sold. Not even guaranteed to play the next game as Veltman is back. Like GP said he was awful at Celtic,
Smash
He’s also not very good on the ball which Potter likes. He’s a beast in the air from attacking POV fantasy wise
IvanTheTerrible
GP, beggars can’t be choosers.
That’s what you get for 4.0, Lidl price
IvanTheTerrible
I reckon Tsimi has one more week.
Klopp most likely would have Robertson fully recovered rather then risk him in a game where the CS chances will be minimal.
Smash
I’m fairly sure Robbo plays. Was on the bench and a big game like Chelsea I’m fairly sure he comes back in unless he has a setback
Gear
Yeah, I can’t see Robbo not playing
Reg83
c this week
b next week
i think mahrez starts next week as he was benched this week
Smash
I must add with how good Jesus was on the right wing Mahrez might not even start
banjomaker
Maybe just white to a Spurs defender and roll the other?
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
This was my thought too.
White would be my move.
Smash
Not bothered by White at all. After City they have a great run I don’t see him as an issue,
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
I think Arsenal will take a bit of trusting first.
OK, then Livramento probably Smash.
Smash
I mean that’s a nice run
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
Agree but then Brentford was a nice opener on paper.
Smash
Not overly. First day away to a newly promoted side with loads of players missing, Crowd buzzing
Gallant Pioneer (@MitchellC_FF247)
Probably says so much about Arsenal just now because that wouldn’t have been a hard game in previous years .
Which makes me think that these forthcoming fixtures aren’t easy either in their current condition.
