Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

The first midweek gameweek of the season and our matches are spread across three nights with a 6pm deadline on Tuesday (if you’re only just finding this out here, you’ve probably already missed it!).

Two matches kick off at 7.30pm with Fulham hosting Brighton at the Cottage and a London Derby between Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Chelsea go to Southampton for a 7.45pm kick off and then fifteen minutes later Leeds welcome Everton – where Frank Lampard is sure to get a raucous welcome after ‘Spygate’, which is rarely often forgotten.

Wednesday brings us five games across the same kick off pattern as Tuesday where we find Arsenal playing Aston Villa, Wolves heading to Bournemouth, City sharpening the bayonettes to cut through the Forest whilst West Ham host Spurs in our second London clash of the week. Lastly, ‘4-3’ memories evoked as Liverpool take on Newcastle at Anfield.

Thursday’s solitary fixture is now-revitalised Manchester United looking to put three wins together at Leicester.

  1. Bitterly regret that didn’t start the season with Mitro. 5 goals in 5 games and 7 baps in the mix.
Don’t be fooled by the upcoming “tough” fixtures. He is capable to score against anyone at any time.

    • good point. U were telling this from the start. I now have Kane Haaland & Jesus though as I changed formation & cant fit Mitrovic now.

    • The trouble is Ivan a load of us had Mitro from the off the last time Fulham were up and that was a complete failure, it certainly put me off doing it again.

    • laugh

      • Photek, he is a new man now.
Only one YC in 5 games is shocking for someone who was cards magnet in the past.

        • As a Fulham supporter, I’m dying not having him but my choice to start with Jesus – Kane – Haaland was worked out. If it keeps up, I will prob lose Jesus for him and upgrade my cheap mids. Don’t forget, would be a very different start to the season if he had been shown red vs Wolves (prob should have to be honest)!

  2. You bringing him in Ivan? You got the Rodrigo dilemma too?

    • I might do Kev, let’s see how the rest of the games end. I was planning to bring Darwin as well but that will need major surgery and losing Salah.

  3. Without wishing Ill on anyone, it’s nice to have a few injuries hit the template to mix teams around a bit. I’m planning James & Rodrigo to Gabriel & Gundo for -4. Your thoughts ?

    • Agree that it’s been a little bit ‘set & forget’ so far with a lot of teams having a very close starting 11 ….gotta admit I looked at my 11 and thought ‘that’s me for the season’ ….the odd problem/injury does make it more interesting! Wish them a quick recovery though!
Decent moves although I did hear …only through social media gossip I might add, so don’t know how true ….that James was just ill so should be back quick and Gundy was carrying a bit of a niggle!? Hopefully more news on both soon

  4. Up this football league I go…
6th now in the FF247 Regulars League and rising like an Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire pudding.
    WoooHooo
    Potty

    • Or these B&H from the era when there were no nauseating pictures of lung disease etc on packets (ie. when I used to smoke and not now! 😉 )
Still haven’t brought him in, but maybe one of these days… smile
Cheerio and congrats on your success!

      • Warning – smoking is outrageously bad for your health!
Just in case there were any youngsters on the site, on the verge of taking up ‘the tabs’! 😉

  5. Is it madness to consider selling Salah to Sterling, depending on how he does tonight?

I could bring in Diaz for Bailey if I did… pardon

    • Wait and see what happens tonight. If he manage to scrape just the customary goal then maybe it’s worth going ahead with the plan.

  6. Darwin is back after this game and he looked pretty awsome before the red card. What do you think of his playing time after this? Will firmino take minutes from him now?

    • Allan, after such a long rest he will definitely start and play the next few games. The plan to replace Salah with him has been in the pipe for some time with me.
