FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 7
Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 7
We have a three day Gameweek this time stretching from Saturday until Monday. Just be advised that Gameweek 8 is then a Friday deadline.
Saturday itself begins with an angry angry Tuchel going to Fulham at 12:30pm. We then have four 3pm games with a South Coast derby(ish) between Bournemouth and Brighton, Leicester and Villa seeing if either can keep their manager in a job, Wolves probably on the end of another Liverpool backlash at Anfield, whilst Saints and Brentford looks tame. Man City and Spurs clash in the late one at 5:30pm, which should be tasty and interesting, in equal measure, and that’s just in the dugouts. Manager-cam anyone?
On Sunday we have three games with the now usual pair of games at 2pm with the Arteta derby as Arsenal welcome Everton along with Newcastle visiting West Ham. ‘Super Sunday’ this week at 4:30pm sees Man Utd go to Palace, let’s hope it is not foggy once more.
Leeds and Forest see us out on Monday at 8pm.
The games in full

What a week it’s been.
Yeah, here’s a ball that your kids can’t play with this weekend.
But it’s ok for 27,500 people to cram into The Oval and watch England play (annihilate) South Africa at cricket.
Well done everyone, fucking brilliant decision making.
(I’m not taking this very well).
no matches were cancelled when Russia invaded Ukraine and a needless war started which was much more tragic. Not even Uefa cancelled matches though it affected so many.
I didnt enjoy all these excessive DGWs last season. Makes it more difficult to plan. Probably these matches will be scattered rather than go in 1 GW. And a GW8 cancellation will make it more complex.
But it is what it is- cant help FA decision.
The fh idea to save a -8 cost me .3m
Here we go again? Just as covid did last year, cancellation of the gw8 London games will introduce all sorts of unfairness in our game. Can FPL get their s— together, and come up with a better plan, ahead of time, for next week? Off the top of my head-perhaps a FH for just gw8? I’m sure there are other fair solutions…but not a repeat of the Christmas shambles we had last year.
Do you think the cancellation of games will extend beyond GW8?
Not officially announced yet but most are predicting the state funeral to be held a week on Monday which will be a Bank holiday in UK. GW 8 could be cancelled as well but that is up to FA as government guidance states there are no official obligations to cancel any sport events.
Agreed. A reasonably good solution, from an FPL point of view, is an across-the-board cancellation.
But this still leaves the problem of clumpy rescheduled games, presumably after Christmas. Perhaps just eliminate the rescheduled games from FPL?
They could have decided the games to go ahead with teams paying their respect with a minute silence, just like WHU did on Thursday night but hey ho….
If the funeral is on the 19th Sept, I cannot see games going ahead next weekend if they have cancelled this weekend, whatever the decision half would have agreed with and the other half not.
It would have been appropriate to have called off next weekend’s games, I don’t think this weekend was right, however this is a pretty big thing to have happened, one of the biggest.
Perhaps they should not have rolled GW7 WC in GW8 as this kind of messes this idea up.
KI
A free hit for GW8 would be really unfair for people who had made/saved FTs to prepare for 8&9
Also I don’t think the site could cope with managers who made FH in GW7 or might want to in GW9.
Balls to that. We just deal with the uncertainty as it comes.
Ha ha well said !
Here’s an interesting scenario. If someone took -12 for GW7 and used the FH trick to wipe out the minus. Then the GW8 starting team is the same as GW6 but you have lost a FT to those who didn’t FH.
But if you are able to then use the reinstated FH in GW8 (Possible BGW in London) the software I think would not be able to go back to GW6 and in GW9 you could have your GW7 FH team. Then you’ve got your -12 back and still have your transfers made!
Don’t think you’ll be able to use it GW8 if you play it GW7.
That’d be a free wildcard in essence, if I’m reading what you are suggesting correctly.
I get that people are frustrated about the cancellation of this weekend’s games, and the knock on effect to FPL, but please let’s not lose perspective. The fixtures were cancelled as a mark of respect for the Queen’s passing, and regardless of your feelings about the rightness or wrongness of the FA’s decision, you have to respect their reasons for doing so were well-intentioned. They’re not doing it to mess up GW7 for FPL players. That’s just an unfortunate knock-on effect.
In any case, surely the extra DGWs that will be created later in the season will allow a greater opportunity for points than an ordinary GW7 would have, so any short-term losses this GW can be regained later in the season.
Not being English, I’m not bothered by the queens death. However, I appreciate that many people are.
However, I do think it was something of an overreaction from the FA to cancel all football this weekend. Particularly, when you consider that the majority of other sports have gone ahead this weekend.
I think that may be an overuse of the word however!
Gary Lineker claims football has ‘missed the opportunity to pay its respects’ to the Queen after all fixtures were postponed this weekend – as he praises ‘wonderful and moving scenes’ at The Oval
I agree what Gary has said, if all other supporters had opportunity why not football supporters.
No sporting events have been postponed in Australia, we are into our finals. However, there has been some nice moments before each game to remember the Queen, it’s been good to do, especially for the younger folk
Think I’m with Crouch
Glad im not playing the admin team this gw. A few hits would have been fair for those who do…
I’m one of the unfortunate ones up against the admin team this week. What would almost be a guaranteed 3 points is now a single point. It is what it is I suppose.
I was up against admin team in gw7. Lost 2 guaranteed points.
I would expect admin will give you back the 2 points at the end of the season when it comes to the promotion, relegation and prizes. I think they did that one Covid week when they forgot to take a hit to ensure their loss.
That’s a very good point.
Its the way the cookie crumbles unfortunately.
