Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 7

Feast or famine

We hope you like your football ‘Saturday heavy’! This may be a ‘DGW’ of sorts, and as such there are 11 fixtures, but 8 of them are on Saturday, with 3 in the 3 days that follow.

Villa and Brighton kick us off at 12.30pm. That is then followed by no less than six 3pm games; Bournemouth v Arsenal, Everton v Luton, Man Utd v Palace, Newcastle v Burnley, West Ham v Sheffield Utd and Wolves v Man City. If that wasn’t enough excitement then Spurs and Liverpool face-off at 5.30pm.

It’s then slow and sedentary each day. Sunday sees Brentford at Palace at 2pm. On Monday at 8pm we have Fulhham v Chelsea and then the ‘DGW’ concludes our weekend on Tuesday at 7.30pm, as Luton welcome Burnley.

  1. I feel like Jesus >> Watkins is inevitable this week, tempted to pull the trigger on it before his price rises

    • He already rose 8.0 today. It’s mental how quick the prices mive this year.

      • I can’t believe Salah has also hone up. They are definitely doing increases on form and fixtures this year

        • It looks like they’ve started the fantasy Bundesliga system where transfers in and out don’t matter, it’s all about the player’s performance which determines the price fluctuation.

        • This was always the case Ivan. Even in UCL fantasy, it’s performance that determines the price.
          They have mentioned in the rule section how price changes happen.

    • I am going to try avoiding the hysteria. Remember how did it go with Son, scored a hatty in GW 4 and then blanked at home against Sheffield. That said, let’s see what happens on Thursday in the EL.

      • Very true Ivan. But o have held him since and he has scored 3 in 3 games now

    • Which one is better to play?

      I created a league on Cricket Draft as that’s what we used last time.

      • Both are good but the icc one is the official one. U basically have 3 free transfers on average for each game but there are no gameweeks. And u have 7 boosters or chips.
        I have auto filled the cricket draft one for now.

        If more people join cricket draft here I am fine playing there too.

        • I’m easy either way Reg, we just need to decide on one.

          Let’s see what Paddy, Kop etc say, assuming they see this.

        • I think it has been decided that we’ll play the official game. It’s very easy to play.

    • Less than 2 days left! Please join. Another useful feature in official game is transfers get only locked when match starts.
      So u can make transfers before hand if u want but then change it after seeing lineup if required.

        • I am in India where it’s taking place. I will be going to the stadium to watch NZ vs srilanka in November.
          Very difficult to get tickets but got for this match. smile

        • I’ve registered for the official game, but I am unable to create a team. I’ve been to the instructions on how to play and stuff, but to no avail! I may just get left behind on this one!
          (What’s new??? smile )

        • Clicking on ‘My Matches’, but nothing appears. Like some of the Aussie ball tamperers a couple of years ago, I seem to be banned from the competition! Hahaha! 😉

          Matches start at 2pm local though some days there will be double headers starting at 10:30am.

        • Hey Innit, finding it very complicated to get it up and running. It won’t let me enter because it says my profile details are incomplete. Also do we have to have a team for every match? ??

        • Pick a team to begin with and then you have 135 transfers across all the matches.

      • Well – finally in! But I can assure you that yesterday it was blocking me left right and centre! Now all’s good and I’m even in the league under ‘Numbats in the Belfry’. Good luck!

        • Yup I ve gone with power keeper. Many will go double up for all players which is also good tactic.
          Some will play it later.

        • I was quite surprised when I saw how many had used boosters. Thought never crossed my mind! smile

        • Hey guys – regarding the ICC ‘Dream’ comp, does anyone have an idea of the workings of the ‘Super Transfer’ Booster? I’ve tried looking at descriptions, but it just seems like a WC. Is it permanent or just a one-off thing like the FH chip? I dunno when I’d be likely to use it, other than in the finals series?
          Whatta youse reckon? (Sorry, that’s rather poor English isn’t it?)

        • It’s exactly the same as Wildcard. Change team completely and it stays that way till u make it transfers again.
          There is no point holding it till semis or final bcoz after the group stage and before the semis u anyways get unlimited transfers same way u get in uefa cl fantasy before knockouts.
          I just used mine before the eng vs afg game as my team was stacked with India pak and NZ players.

        • Thanks Reg – that’s very kind of you.
          Problem is I don’t know when to WC. I’ve been getting by with just transfers and stacking for games I thought were a chance (but didn’t turn out that way, like my 4 English players yesterday against Afghanistan, as I thought the Afghanis looked like they had become the easy beats of the comp, but twas not to be so!). To start with (after my debacle of the opening 5 matches where I didn’t know what I was doing) I set myself the goal of keeping certain players, but then the need to chase points meant that I had to sell them to get in people from upcoming (sometimes 2 or 3 matches in advance, but still) fixtures. It’s now become a hand to mouth trading existence, and to slow down the rate of trades I’m having to slow things down, like for today’s match where I only have 2 players, because I’m so uncertain about the Aussies, and I don’t know what the Sri Lankans are capable of!
          Anyway, sounds like I need to go back to the planning board, and map out a few likely trades and maybe WC if I see a pattern in the upcoming fixtures.

  3. Think I’m going to activate my WC tonight. Had a very poor start to the season and think my team needs a change unless anyone can give me a reason to hold off a bit longer

    • It’s hardly a bad team and can be fixed up gradually. How bad is bad?!

    • I had a similar team esp. mid and fwd line and have activated my WC. I would WC this and get rid of non performing Manu players, mbuemo, sterling etc plus defenders like estu and botman and target Newcastle. spurs, villa, Liverpool, etc.

      • Agree with Reg83, also depends on how many immediate transfers out you want to do. United players + Sterling probably need to go at 1st glance. I have had them both all season too and it is painful LOL

  4. It’s a funny old game isn’t it?
    I took a 4pt hit and sold Pickford, Chillwell and Jota for Botman, Areola and Bowen, with a 12 pt gain (minus the 4pts and 2 more pts for Estupinan!) which means I was 6pts better off (net gain), but still got red arrows. I feel kind of good in a strange way! smile

    • hahahaha that is indeed the game of this season. Good thing though you are set up better for the next few GWs too with those moves.

    • I don’t mind taking a hit if it gives instant reward. Should do it more often

      • This gw I removed chilwell and Wilson out for a hit and got in trippier and morris who I captained. Already got 28 (-4) from these 2 plus wherever morris as c gets vs Burnley. Not often hits are this successful though. smile

    • I would say Son is enough for Spurs cover. If you replace Maddison with JWP you will have quite a bit of dosh to beef up the defence or elsewhere. WHU have a long streak of favourable fixtures all the way up to Christmas.
