Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 8

GW8 is condensed into just two days, with a 60/40 split in favour of Saturday over Sunday.

We begin with the 12.30pm lunchtime game being Luton welcoming Spurs.

We then have four 3pm games with Chelsea at Burnley, Everton hosting Bournemouth, Sheffield Utd at Fulham and Man Utd at home (gulp…) to Brentford.

The late one, at 5.30pm is Palace v Forest (exciting!).

That leaves four on Sunday and three at 2pm – Brighton v Liverpool, West Ham v Newcastle and Wolves v Villa.

Our quick-fire GW ends with Man City going to Arsenal at 4.30pm.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

I knew what’s gonna happen and still went to take a hit to bring Watkins. Could have waited for the next GW but hey ho….

I’m my own biggest troll.. yeah, I could blame the players.. and It might be more satisfying to pass the buck to the likes of Sterling, Son, Isak, Joao Pedro, Gusto (any more you can think of?). But I am my own worst enemy. and I’ve only myself to blame.

New mantra: Identify the players you like and stick with them.

That’s what I have resolved to do this season, and it’s working much better. Sterling is the prime example this week, would have been easy to throw out after a benching (albeit illness) and an annoying blank.

Same with Son for next week, after this, he stays, etc.

I’ve just seen your results for this week mate. Congrats on playing it your own way! smile

Thanks, I’m not boasting about any results, that’s not my style, simply suggesting that a more patient and measured approach may work for some others too.

Likewise with the cricket! Chips have been played at a pace, to give some people an early lead, but as Jos Buttler said, ‘it’s a marathon, not a sprint’.

        • AJW says:

Very wise words there from Butler indeed! Don’t worry mate, there’s not even a hint of you boasting here. I just clicked on your link to check your progress and was pleasantly surprised to see that you had gone further on last week’s good result. Keep going there!!
          Good luck gaffer! smile

Will give son and dias next week too.. after that both of them out for Salah and Soucek? Son seemed essential with Luton and Fulham..

Hey Reg you got any tips on how to play this ICC game? The rolling trades and oscillating captains are quite destabilizing! I’ve got off to a slow start, just like my compatriots Marsh and Maxwell! smile Cheers mate, it must be a buzz being over there! smile

You have to chose a c and vc for each single game.
C gets u double points and vc 1.5 points. So u need to have atleast 2 players each game atleast.
U have 135 transfers for 45 group matches. So on average 3 transfers each game though how u use transfers depends on u.. u can make 5-6 transfers or just 1 transfer..have to see how many u already got in ur team for next game. I try to have around 4-6 players each game.
Apart from that u have 7 boosters including a WC. For eg if u use batsmen booster, all batters in ur team get double pts, ur c gets double double or quadruple pts and ur vc gets triple.. so put 6 batters in 1 game and use it.
Likewise for bowlers, wk and all rounders plus a full team booster and a triple c booster similar to fpl but u still have a regular c and vc.
        Hope this info has helped.
It’s quite a bit of strategy actually. smile

Remember to c and vc each game and when u use boosters, make sure u have maximum players for that position. For eg. Use the full team booster on semifinal 1 and put 11 players from sf1.

      • It is completely different to other fantasy games i’ve played. i was caught out in the T20 world cup and had a slow start but came home strong once i worked it out.

its all about using the trades wisely. 135 seems like a lot, but over 46 games they go fast.

as a minimum, you need to have at least two players each game (to collect the 2x & 1.5x for the C & VC).

The boosters are important. I’ll probably save my 2x team boost for one of the semis or the final.

Already used my Wicket keeper boost match 1, and i’ll target a few games during the rounds for my bats/bowler/AR boosts, making sure i have the max players in that position when i use them. You get the multiplier boost with the C & VC (C = x2, plus x2 boost = x4).

The hard part is to ‘carry’ players from one game to the next. Some have a shorter period to wait (India only have 3 game break to their next followed by a 2 game break to the next) so they can be held, Where some teams have a longer break (NED has an 8 game break after their next).

        good start by the Bunnies

The good news is that Haaland failed to hurt us for not captain him.

City had just 4 shots against Arsenal, the fewest since 2010.
Still, a surprising result considering their previous visits to the Emirates.

Hi all, quick question, which site do you use to look at potential price rise/fallers? I’m on a WC and have very low team value so want to get rid of any potential fallers and hang on to any risers for the momeht. Cheers, Claire
