Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 17.

The New Year is here, but don’t worry GW17 is bound to disappoint you in the same ways the previous 16 gameweeks did in 2020. Everton and West Ham get it rolling with the early Friday game and Manchester United hosts Villa in the second and last game of the day.

Saturday brings us four more fixtures. Spurs welcome in Leeds, Palace gets 3 easy points vs Sheffield, Brighton tangles with Wolves and in the last game we see Championship contenders West Brom play Arsenal.

Sunday gives us three more matchups. Burnley play Fulham, Toon take on Leicester and then Chelsea duke it out with City.

Monday sees the last remaining fixture when Saints take on Liverpool.

The games in full…

  1. Afternoon folks. I appreciate it’s a long way off, but assuming no disasters, what should I be doing here? My plan is to save all chips for later in the season. I have 2 FTs in my back pocket. My problem is that I stand to lose a lot of value in Salah, DCL or Zouma if I were to move them on for a week. I’d lose just 0.1 on Soucek. I’m considering two options:

    1) Mendy to Smith Rowe – gives me potentially 10 players next week, and will leave me with 9 doublers, plus Kane & DCL, and 2 FT in hand.
    2) Mendy & Soucek to Smith Rowe & Saka – gives me potentially 11 players next week, and will leave me with 8 doublers, plus Kane, DCL & Saka/Smith Rowe (I’d likely bring back Soucek with the 1 FT for the double).

Which of these would you go for? Or is there something better I’m missing?

    Thanks.

    • Fairly similar to my set up. I have Raphinia instead of Soucek and Anguissa instead of Mendy. Thinking A bit like you say you have two frees so better set than me

      • The first option seems the sensible one, although I’ve no idea what I’ll actually need 2 FTs for the following week, hence why I’m marginally leaning towards option two at the moment.

        • Yeah I quite like both ideas. If you can’t see anything better go for it

  2. 0FT, 0ITB.

What to do here guys? Go with 7 or would you FH?

    • You can get 7 good players out so I wouldn’t FH. Up to you if you want to take a hit to get another player in for GW18.

    • I think you can keep that as is as you have the critical core of players. What you have should be enough to keep you in the races.

Obviously if the City game gets postponed you’ll be up shit creek without a paddle but hopefully that won’t happen.

Some may argue Kane is part of this imaginary critical core, but I’m sure you know what I mean.

    • I think you just about have enough because of the players you have. It’s close though and I’m sure some would say free hit

  3. Ffs Justin booked and then concede.

  4. Anyone else expect more first teamers out for City based on what Pep said?

  5. Justin goes from 9 points to 1 in the space of 2 mins

    • For the sake of sanity I’ve long stopped caring about that sort of thing.

I’ve never understood why people get excited about a certain player being on a certain number of points half way through a match – as if that will be the final total – and then get borderline psychotic because said player gets a yellow or something.

    • Andy Carroll picks up 3bps after 15 minutes on the pitch.
