Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 17.

The New Year is here, but don’t worry GW17 is bound to disappoint you in the same ways the previous 16 gameweeks did in 2020. Everton and West Ham get it rolling with the early Friday game and Manchester United hosts Villa in the second and last game of the day.

Saturday brings us four more fixtures. Spurs welcome in Leeds, Palace gets 3 easy points vs Sheffield, Brighton tangles with Wolves and in the last game we see Championship contenders West Brom play Arsenal.

Sunday gives us three more matchups. Burnley play Fulham, Toon take on Leicester and then Chelsea duke it out with City.

Monday sees the last remaining fixture when Saints take on Liverpool.

The games in full…

  1. Did I hear right I was listening to sky news I thought they said elite sports and premier League will stop during lockdown?

    • Scratch that just read it’s unaffected. I swear I heard the reporter say it will not continue

  2. What’s considered a decent amount of players to have for next GW? I could get 7/8 at a push but feel like a free hit would be wasted on that game week with other potential dgws to come.

    • General consenus is a minimum of 7 quality players. Needs the core of KDB, Bruno, Son etc.

    • Probably 8. Due to Covid, suspensions, not being first picks etc, I’ll probably have 5 or 6 – I’ll probably free hit.

Though wait for any news about the effect of the new lockdown has on proceedings.

      • And as soon as I post that the BBC post this:

        ‘Lockdown latest
Premier League football and other elite sports with testing regimes and bubbles in place will continue in England despite the country heading into lockdown again.

England fell into line with Scotland, which earlier on Monday had agreed that football and rugby clubs can continue to train and play as normal after introducing new restrictions for the general public north of the border.

However, a March-style full lockdown due to concerns of rising Covid-19 cases means outdoor gyms, tennis courts and golf courses will close and outdoor team sports will be prohibited.’

        • That is a great news.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that games can’t be cancelled at any time due to covid cases. Just let’s hope that won’t happen.

  3. No Adams! Soucek off the bench woooooo!!! :good:

    • Same here bud, needed badly. :drinks:

  4. With two FT’s anyone reckon I could cobble together a strong enough squad for next gw? This is largely me being cautious and banking on more DGWS to happen which I believe is a fair expectation?

    • Salah to Jonjo Shelvey

      • Good move, recommended

        • If suffering brain trauma, maybe.

        • Admittedly, sarcasm mixed with a fair share of bitterness may have factored in for previous comments

        • Also, fair amount of brain trauma (albeit that has been the case for some time now)

        • Can’t win them all. I had a bad feeling when I saw Henderson was starting in defence. Well played Southampton. Ings is a superdude.

          Liverpool need to regroup.

As much as I’d like to see Liverpool get to 20 this season the fact we won it last year makes nights like we’ve just had less frustrating than they were. To me, anyway. And with all the other crap going on in the UK it’s all pretty small beer.

        • Yes and no, Kralin. I think part of the frustration is also that you know they can do better, winning this year again is looking dimmer and dimmer – alas, it is just a game… Onwards and upwards, and such

    • You could bring in KdB for Salah – provided you have a plan to get Salah back if you’ll lose money losing him then bringing him back.

I imagine there will be a fair amount of Salah selling going on.

  5. Am I good to go GW18…will swap out Salah for KDB?
    Cheers!

  6. Any thoughts for the BGW??
