The New Year is here, but don’t worry GW17 is bound to disappoint you in the same ways the previous 16 gameweeks did in 2020. Everton and West Ham get it rolling with the early Friday game and Manchester United hosts Villa in the second and last game of the day.
Saturday brings us four more fixtures. Spurs welcome in Leeds, Palace gets 3 easy points vs Sheffield, Brighton tangles with Wolves and in the last game we see Championship contenders West Brom play Arsenal.
Sunday gives us three more matchups. Burnley play Fulham, Toon take on Leicester and then Chelsea duke it out with City.
Monday sees the last remaining fixture when Saints take on Liverpool.

If he stays fit, he will play but I doubt it. He is way too fragile.
It looks like Lindelhof is going to be out for some time…so I am hoping Bailly will hold up for two weeks.
He might do but definitely far from 100%. If Bailly feels a slight discomfort, Tuanzebe is there to cover. I’d avoid but it’s your call.

He is currently on 2 bps but it’s close.

He created five chances for Watkins alone, got the assist for the goal and won 273 free kicks.
I think the Villains would’ve won most, if not all, of their games if his teammates (most notably Watkins) could convert chances just marginally better. He’s absolutely blasting passes right, left and everywhere.
So, bit of a rethink
Originally I was set on FH18 & BB19 however, with the fixtures moving around I can now get 8 playing in 18 with a -4 then a further-4 in 19 for a bench boost with 12 doubles.
This actually saves me 4pts as I would need a -12.to get the 12 doubles in 19 if I FH in 18. Plus I would also have my FH to use later. Playing FH in 18 only gives me 3 moee players, albeit slightly better players than i have now. Hopefully I’m making sense so far.
Essentially my dilema is:-
Is it worth a cost of 4pts plus the FH chip to get 3 more players for GW18???? Already have kdb, Bruno and kane so most big guns are covered.
Theres bound to be another DGW at some point so I’m thinking I’d actually rather have 8 playing & use the FH at a later date to get a full team.of doubles out.
Thoughts anyone?
What you’ve said seems fine to me.
It can be distracting to read that most people are adopting one strategy but in fact it’s not like that at all – various strategies will be employed over the coming weeks, some a little better thought through than others, all to a certain extent requiring a degree of luck to succeed.
For me 19 seems a good opportunity to use the FH and get a strong team of doubles out (and be able to move right until the deadline, track form etc). But I’ll try to have a plan b and in the end a lot may come down to getting the captain right.
Holding chips back until later in the season is sound I think.
I’ve got 9 players for this week currently including Kilman I think it might be enough as I see the free hit being potentially more valuable later in season. I’ll see how many of my nine Rosco picks on his free hit. He will outscore me regardless

Yeah, thinking the FH could he very valuable in a dgw later in the season, essentially enabling me to get points from far more players than the 3 it gets now

Yes that’s fine. Whether you make the transfer(s) before or after, the BB uses the team you have at the deadline

You might want to double check this. Pretty sure you can’t use 2 chips in one game week.

Can someone with knowledge of the rules of the game verify my thinking or not…..if I do a transfer NOW and the free hit them at a LATER date in the same game week then my team will default back to my original team with the previously actioned transfer in place.
If that is correct then can I suggest that you undertake a transfer first in preparation for the double game week 19 and then free hit for the reduced game week 18.

Don’t think so, as it’s still essentially an 18 transfer, although you are trying to pretend it’s in 17.
From FPL rules:
After playing your Free Hit chip, at the next deadline your bank balance and squad is restored to as they were at the previous deadline, with any player price changes in the previous gameweek reflected.
The transfer will not count for the next game week.
Perhaps I am not explaining myself properly.
I have undertaken a transfer NOW; player A for game week 18.
If I now free hit and change my whole squad to reflect players in the reduced game week with player A not included.
Game week 18 ends then my squad should resort back to my original squad for the double game week 19 then player A will be back in my team.
So effectively undertaking a transfer AND a free hit squad in game week 18 with new transfer allowed for game week 19.
Hope this makes sense.

I agree with leeboy, although I’m happy to be corrected as ever.
Doesn’t matter if you make it now or a minute B4 the 19 deadline, it’s still an 18 transfer and will be swallowed up by a FH, as I understand it.
