Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 2

Part two of our GABO series sees three more of our writing team come to the party and attempt to tackle the same questions that Mito, Init and Kop answered. Again, they need little introduction as all three are very well known to you all as they are always seen on site commenting, helping or advising. Or recommending Dusan Tadic or Aaron Mooy.

Leading the pack is Gallant Pioneer. GP, as he is more commonly known to us is having the season of his life and is set fair for his best ever FPL ranking. Yet he is always willing to help others and write when called upon. Oh. And he loves Dusan Tadic.

Rosco is one of our resident Geordies but is most loved for his gravatar of Flash from Dukes of Hazard. He’s a great lad, offers advice to all who ask and has a great footballing brain… for a Newcastle fan. But we love him most because of Flash. You will later too, one of those images you will never get of your mind again… two men in a shower with a dog. And another sat on a chair watching. Or something along those lines. Read on…

Bringing up the rear is Liverpool fan (how ironic) Matt. Despite some strange Captain recommendations, Matt is another consistent performer and like GP, could well be on course for a best ever FPL ranking.

Let’s get down to business and see what today’s panel have in store for us…

  1. Hi i am new here where do i go to get a grav?

  2. Evening fellas, how are we all? Got my first coaching badge today so I’m well on the way to coaching the big boys… Cookie, Elle I’m looking at you 😉

Need some advice on this team because I’m really torn about going with Kane, Kun and Firmino or just Firmino and Kane. What would you do with this team?

    A. Ayew and Pogba to Kane and McArthur
    B. Ayew and Sterling to Kane and Allen
    C. Kun and Pogba to Kane and Siggy with 3 mil left itb?

    • Depends on the results tomorrow and Monday evening really.

Would personally move Aguero to Kane with Jesus back soon and Spurs fixtures. Don’t like the Siggy move, like the whole Everton team he’s very inconsistent. Hold the other FT in my opinion.

      • Doesn’t really. Monday is now irrelevant and Matt’s eating shoes on video if Spurs don’t win tomorrow. And we won’t be seeing Matt eat shoes. Unfortunately. GW31 is all set.

        • If City draw, they don’t play in GW28?

        • Want to offer to eat shoes over that one? smile

        • Nope I nominate Rosco to do that.

        • Leicester won the league at 5000/1, 20/1 home win seems a banker compared to that 😉

It’s more that I want it to happen rather than I think it will…will leave the shoe eating to Matt.

        • Realise I dont want a home win, 7/1 draw is even better 😀

        • Where not eating anyone’s shoes unless there’s a wee dram in them 😉

        • A draw isn’t entirely out of the question to be fair. Depends on what team Pep puts out. Yeah they’re League 1 but they’ll piss that and should challenge for promotion next season. 80% of them are still Championship players at best though.

As an aside, and probably why Wigan can never really compete – it’s still not a sell out. And the oppo is down the road. Go figure.

        • Big rugby league town, isn’t it?

        • How did I get dragged into eating shoes!? Just over here, minding my own business…

        • You pick up his shit on B&P so I’m guessing he think it extends smile

        • Yes Kop. That’s the first sport in the town. By a mile. Problem with football is the proximity to Manchester- anyone interested in it supports one of them two predominantly.

      • Cheers lads I was thinking of going with my first thought of Kun to Kane. Would you upgrade Pogba or Ayew? I’m thinking Pogba needs to go but there are better options up top at the weaker clubs than midfielders.

        • That’s next week’s move or more than likely it’ll be Williams.

    • I like C there Matt. Mainly because I don’t like A or B smile

  3. Happy enough to do a Paddy Power here and say this is your tracker for GW31 as we speak. Spurs should be a formality given that Rochdale just spent £500k to gift them the win!

    https://fantasyfootball247.co.uk/fantasy-football-fixture-tracker/

    4 games on –

    Huddersfield v Palace
    Bournemouth v West Bromwich Taxis
    Stoke v Everton
    Liverpool v Watford

  4. I’m not sure if I can see hopefully just an elllusion 😉

  5. So GW31 games and blanks are all but confirmed now, fixture tracker has everything you will need to prepare for that.

Looking forward to possible/likely GW35 blanks with the results of the FA Cup quarter final draw:

Tottenham vs Brighton (Spurs likely to beat Rochdale and then Swansea/Sheffield Wednesday)
Man United vs Bournemouth (United likely to beat Brighton)
Man City vs Swansea (City likely to beat Southampton)

Either Chelsea vs Huddersfield or Leicester vs Southampton will also be a blank, Chelsea are probably favourites but Leicester have a chance.

Means FH in GW35 is looking very useful at the moment.

    • Hi Mr Bean.

I don’t think that the FH is needed for GW35 and it’s already quite possible to build a team around covering both GW31 and 35.

Palace, Everton, Liverpool, Stoke, Watford and West Brom all play in both blanks. 3 Liverpool and two Everton is easy to do with both having decent fixtures in between. Palace have good enough fixtures between 31-35 to keep one or two players, as do Watford (especially if they keep scoring!) and a few clever transfers means a good team is possible right up to GW35, meaning a free hit for DGW 34 and WC in GW36 for a BB in GW37.

That’s my plan anyway, and I’d expect to have 7 or 8 playing in GW31, possible more in GW35.

Still working on the colouring but the below tracker I’m using might give some ideas – it also shows possible European nights to help think about which clubs will rotate.

      • Robbo, I think you just talked yourself into a job. Email me please 😉

      • To be honest I do like the sound of this.

However, I still have my TC which looks ideal for a KDB/Kane in DGW37 with their potential fixtures.

I also think 15 DGW players for GW34 will be slightly more effective than in GW37 as there are more options to choose from, especially on the cheaper end (Swansea and WHam) which allows for the big players. Trying to get 12 City/Spurs/United/Chelsea players for DGW37 could leave you with a very disappointing bench and wasted BB.

Am sure I will spend most of the next month planning a few options to see what works best.

        • I already used my TC which makes it an easier decision. Hopefully a few people will keep track of what they did around the free hit as this being the first year I think we’re all trying toi guess what the best strategy is.

  6. With the fixtures for gw 31 all but decided, as of now I’ve only 1 player (Salah) + Kenny if he plays.
What do you guys think is a good number of players to have for the blank gw?

    • 11 smile
