Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 Part 2

The International break is here and it is of course time for yet another edition of Bore Off! As ever during the international break we take the time to catch up with some of our site regulars, ask them how their seasons are going and get their thoughts on some key issues that we all want answers to. And then of course ask them some stupid questions that we all really don’t want answers to but are too intrigued to look away. We have already caught up with 3 of them but such was the clamour to be involved this week we have a bonus ‘part 2’. And so we are delighted to be joined by Serendipity, Milburn and Footy Fantastic (Guy) for part 2.

  1. Thanks Seren, Milburn (poor man’s Rosco 😉 ) and Guy.

Guy, nice to see you have a new Naismith at Everton with Niasse.

    • Naismith would be an upgrade on that donkey. Niasse that is, not Guy. Don’t know if you saw his goal against Watford but even when he’d gone past the keeper he did his best to mess it up, his final touch was an accident as he was falling over.

    • Like a dagger to my heart that Mito. It hurts cos it’s true! Haha.

      • Ha ha there’s nothing poor about you mate!

        • Cheers mate I’m touched, not in a Kevin spacey typea way though!

      • Hahaha man alive it’s all gone a bit Pete Tong for Kev! How’s your WC going?

        • Well its a lot more top heavy than his usual type. I’m more concerned about no more house of cards to be honest!
          Any advice?

        • Yeah me too I love House of Cards!
          Wow that’s some front 7!!

I’ll be honest the big 3 up top destroys your defence and keeper situation, I think if you’re set on a big 3 then this is close to perfect, I’d probably be inclined to bring in a Brighton defender over a Bournemouth, regardless of fixtures, Bournemouth have conceded the most shots in the last 4 GWs
          .
Personally I’ll be moving back to an enabler such as Tammy/Vardy/Firmino as it allows for a much stronger defence but only time will tell which is the better tactic!

My main concerns would be Hunemeir as I think over Xmas we’ll need a full squad, and Speroni but understand why both are there!

        • Cheers man, appreciate it

  2. The Man City line-up conundrum continues to confuddle us. I think Guy has it right though – just stick with the same player through thick and thin and it should hopefully even itself out over time!

We think we might have stumbled across the answer though…Pep plays FPL!

Yes, it’s been a slow news day in TSZ towers…

    • That’s good stuff there Mastermind, I know it was a joke, but I actually do love the “Park the Bus” chip idea. smile

      • Haha yeah, as I was writing it I was like…hang on a second, this isn’t a terrible idea!

        • I am currently looking at the City attacking six and when you first posted the link I thought I was going to have to throw out my upcoming article. smile Was happy to see the direction you went with it.

    • Out of curiosity who’s everybody else’s preferences of a city treble in order of priority?

    • Thats great, I read that with a smile on my face but when I got to the bullet points that smile turned to laughter. Fantastic, thanks mastermind laugh

    • Love this! Feels like it could be real!! Haha

  3. Once again, made my moves very early to avoid price changes… here’s to no injuries over the IB!!!! :shake:

    • Like ur team banjo

      • Cheers Shane. It’s a long time to wait and hope for no injuries! I’m a sucker for price changes though. How are you shaping up?

        • Not good can’t decide between 3 big strikers up top or heavy midfield

        • Tough call. For me, 3 big guns up top just shades it. I just think the ~6m mids are looking slightly more consistent than the similarly priced strikers.

    • That’s a great team Banjo I love it

      • Cheers Smash. I’m actually quite content with it at the moment. Davies losing gametime annoyed the hell out of me, but I quite like the Azpi switch! If Pogba hits the ground running on his return I’ll lose Sterling.

    • Hey Banjo, I think we have very similar team. I’m also contemplating the same move that you made. I’m not really convinced by Otamendi but I have to give up DDG (which I’m not so keen as well given the coming fixtures for Man utd) to get Dave.

      • I was quite content with Otamendi & Davies, but switched to Azpi & Mee, which I’m quite happy with.

  4. It’s all gone fingers and toes…

Butland out of the England squad, just in case anybody has him. Not sure how long a broken finger keeps a goalie out though. Banjo will probably know, I’m sure he’s broken one of them along with almost everything else.

    • From my experience that could be career ending. My medical notes state ‘fractured’ fingers, when actually the end has come off.

  5. Thoughts on not having Lukaku? He’s out of form has 2 nice home fixtures. However Newcastle and Brighton don’t seem to leak many goals

    • I’ll stay aeay from him because of the reasons stated by you

    • I fancy him to start finding the net in the coming weeks. They’ve got very nice fixtures and he enjoys playing against the lesser sides. But I’d still rather Kun or Kane, so dunno how you can squeeze him in. The money saved by having Morata over Lukaku goes a long way, and Chelsea’s fixtures are good too.

  6. Hey Guys,
I have some options. Which option is right?
    1. Ritchie to GroB
    2. Choupo-Mooting to Doucouré
    3. -4pts, Eriksen & Ritchie to Sané & Richarlison
    4. -4pts, Eriksen & Ritchie to Sané & GroB
    5. -4pts, Ritchie & Choupo-Mooting to GroB & Doucouré
    6. -8pts, Eriksen & Ritchie & Choupo-Mooting to Sané & GroB & Richarlison
    7. Your suggest.
    Many thanks!

    • Has Moting not been getting points. Probably Ritchie to GroB. However I like Richarlson and Sane moves if you want to take a hit. With City scoring 3 goals a game you really need some coverage

      • What do u think smash.
Another quick draft on way to work ha.
Lukaku will become morata in 2weeks

        • For a 4-4-2 can’t really find anything wrong with it. Francis maybe as Bournemouth ain’t the best defensively

    • Option 3 for me wazzalam

    • Option 3 for me too wazza. You need absolute minimum of 1 City attacker, if not 3 😉
