The International break is here and it is of course time for another edition of Bore Off! This time we have given the 3 Amigos a break and found their possible replacements in the near future. 😉 Bry is welcomed in, many of you know him from his other work on the site or perhaps you have seen him busking on the tube in Japan. Banjo also joins us, luckily for him we have only asked him to answer questions and not make the coffee. However, I would still keep my distance as he answers, for your own safety. Last and least (according to FPL) is Smash, who we have asked as a form of therapy for him. Hey, let us get on with it and see what The Last SamuBry, Wilshere x8 and Hulk Smash have to say about their seasons so far and what is to come.

Latest wildcard effort. I have toyed with and without Hazard. Can’t really make my mind up but it feels if I don’t get him on the WC and with Palace the first fixture there won’t be a more opportune time.
Plus getting him now means an easy downgrade to anyone bar Alexis if needed.

I was reading through that team and after the defence, I’m saying “is this 5-2-3 here”?? Moving on from that I actually see merit in the rest strangely (sorry if that sounds cheeky)
Would happily roll with those three strikers myself. I would go with Hazard now if on a WC definitely. Also, on the rest of midfield, I feel a bit out of the loop due to the IB but Hazard and Sterling aside, it isn’t instantly attractive but depending on formation, I’m sure you have covered all eventualities/rotations.

I’ll be honest it was a case of get the 3 strikers in, get Hazard in, get City cover at the back and see what’s left! So a bit of a mish mash which actually rotates pretty well.

Personally don’t think a 5.5m goalkeeper is worth it, especially not Ederson. Pope and Fabianski are both very good options which give you an extra £1m.
Assume you are going to play 4-3-3? In which case Choupo Moting -> 4.4 and upgrade a defender to Azpi/Walker, or Sterling -> Coutinho/Salah/Eriksen (if possible) because when Aguero is back, rotation will always be frustrating won’t it?
If you’re going 3-4-3 then one of Simpson/Mee to a 4.0 defender and upgrade Cedric (or Sterling?).
Like the team other than that, like the Hazard pick. Cedric is good for 4 more weeks, then Daniels can easily replace him.
Bean, the idea of Ederson was to get City defensive coverage – he is cheaper than any of their defenders who are prone to rotation and don’t get many bps either as they are all taken up by the scorers!
I understand the idea entirely, but I personally think Fab/Pope can perform just as well and that extra £1m can be used usefully elsewhere.
Simply put I think you have 1 too many playing players. Simpson/Mee can be downgraded in a 3-4-3 or Choupo can be downgraded in a 4-3-3.
Overall this gives you £1.5 to £2.5m extra, is there anything useful you can do with that?
If not, the team is good to go. Sterling is a worry when Aguero is back…but you can worry when that happens
IMO, you can never have too many playing players!

With Kun out for 6 weeks, I’m relaxed with Sterling over this run of matches and as you say can deal with him then, if required.
I get your point on downgrading but I don’t want non playing players – you only have to see the problems managers have when they have the likes of Rangel, Mbemba and Rosenior in their squads. Any injury or rotation and they have little back up or a rubbish cheap midfielder (Carroll, RLC, Ince etc) coming in.
Didn’t realise it was 6 weeks…last I read it was 2, in which case Sterling should be fine.
I understand it’s a gamble, but even with one non-playing player, you need 3 injuries before you can’t field 11. And if it was downgrading Choupo, you’d still have a playing 4.4/4.5 midfielder, just a less effective points scoring option, but on the plus side you don’t have any selection headaches.
All just opinions, I understand the other view.
Choupo’s stats are remarkably good – he has had more shots on goal than anyone except Kane and Lukaku I think. it was defo Kane and someone. So with Stoke’s fixtures after this week I think he is a justified punt.
But I take your point and of course can see the upside in upgarding say Cedric to Luiz or something similar.
He plays for Stoke, just couldn’t bring him into my team.
Same reason I never picked Benteke at Villa and that didn’t turn out so well.

Just on the Choupo stat I think he’s joint 3rd with Salah, yes, but an awful accuracy.

Choupo’s accuracy may not be the greatest but the only midfield worth 5.6m or less to hit the target more than him is Fernandinho!

I like the team Cookie. I’d prob prefer Courtois over Ederson but I can see why you have gone with him. Can’t argue against any of the other players

Yes I’ve just sold Kane to J God. I can now get Ince to go alongside Richardlison and El Coupo Martini. Should be green arrows all the way now.

Hello mate, I think as a whole its a good WC!
I do think as a pair that Azpi + Otamendi will outscore Luiz and Walker but thats just my personal opinion!
I’m guessing Ward and Simpson rotate well?
Yeah I think between azpi/ota and walker/luiz could go either way I just think walker will outscore azpi.

Eriksen to Sterling & Firmino to Jesus seems like a sound enough move for the meantime – there might be gametime issues when Kun is back but should be fine up until then.

Nice read and good tips in there. Playing a 4-3-3, but feeling I should swap Cedric for another defender soon. Would love to get Jones in, but a few $$ short. Is it worth keeping Ramsey in for the next few fixtures, even when Lacazette is in my team?
I’d replace Ramsey, but at 7m there aren’t many options. Ritchie, Richardson and Gross stand out and will give equal if not more than Ramsey. You could use the extra mil elsewhere
I think double Arsenal in attack isn’t needed – their form and fixtures don’t really merit it. There aren’t many good options around Ramsey’s price other than Fabregas, who isn’t really firing (yet?). You could change Lacazette > Vardy and bring in a Chelsea Def for Cedric, with enough change to swap Jones for Daniels at some point.
