Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2018-19
International break time can only mean one thing, it is ‘Bore off’ time. The old guard is back in place for this one.
Thanks to Cookie, Init and Kop for once again jumping on here and providing some answers to some of the questions that many have on their mind and some questions that apparently only I would have on my mind. What are the fellas thinking about Kun’s minutes, Salah’s form and Giroud’s looks all that and much more…
Ok, let’s get it on!

I, like many others put in Kane only for the cardiff game. Instead of changing back to Kun as I intended, would Mitro and change neves to Sterling be a good move?
Do you have 2FTs? If so, it is a good move indeed, if Neves is your 4th mid! With so much value in the 6-7m strikers it ain’t a bad strategy at all imo to have Wilson/Arnie/Mitro for instance and then some heave mids!
It would take a -4 but would set me up to bring kdb for sterling and upgrade the striker. The other options are keep kane, but that leaves me with no city v Burnley. If it worked out ok my team would have Salah,Hazard, Maddison,KDB in mid plus Arnie, Wilson and a decent forward around 10-11m.
In a couple of weeks of course.
All of those players sound good! I am just very hesitant to advice anyone to take a short-term hit! If it was straight for KDB then yes, but if it’s Neves to Sterling for a hit with a view to then sell Sterling for KDB, well, we all saw what Kane in for a hit last week did when it went wrong, it’s risky! Might as well save it and then perhaps get KDB for free next round! It’s up to you of course, why not just keep Sterling for a little while (5-6GWs) and then reassess? We don’t know how the injury will affect KDB’s playing/points yet…
Thats a fair comment.
Only thing is, because of me risking getting Kane I now have no city. I could just swap back to Aguero but I don’t yet have Sterling. The move I meant was to bring Sterling instead of Aguero and the only way I could do that is by taking a hit. I would be quite happy to keep Sterling, I just meant that it gives me the possibility to get kdb in but not a necessity.
I personally would steer clear of Fulham for the time being. If they continue on their current goals against trajectory then they’re going to be doing a lot of huffing and puffing. Mitrovic has the fixtures but his side is in dire straits. If he was playing for a side in form, maybe yes.
How’s the “goals against trajectory” relevant in terms of having Mitrovic, “goals for” is the thing to look at… Fulham are rather attacking and that’s why they concede a lot, but also they can score a lot, especially against worse opposition than they have played recently, Arsenal, Everton, City in the last four… That’s the beauty of him actually, like Austin at QPR, conceded a lot but who cared when Austin kept on scoring, they are cheap because they play in poor teams yet they can score, FPL diamonds!
Everything’s relevant (or not relevant, depending on how you see it). I mean above in the cobweb gathering sense. But perhaps my beef with Mirovic comes from some deeper, sluggish stream of sour grapes brought about by not owning him yet.
I’m currently torn between him or King/Wilson for one of my striker spots. He ticks boxes for fixtures. I just worry about the service. Will it be silver, or an unseemly scramble?
Maybe we should wait to see if he’s one of the captaincy picks in the GW9 article. I’ll put my faith in that.
Out of the cheaper strikers the two I’d be advocating now would be Mitro or Glenn Murray.
So my plan was to old the ft this week and look to get KDB in after he plays spurs away. 1st Fraser poped up with a knock, 75% of playing with Wan-B 1st off the bench. I’ll leave it be….
Now salah and McCarthy both have the same issue Hart will play but could let on 4+ goals (No fault of his own)
Do I need to make a change? I have only kept hold of salah for the next 2 games!!!
Hey Gavy, there is every chace both players could be fit and they both have great fixtures. I would hold until you hear anyone is def out and evaluate then, in the meantime just enjoy the break!
No need to panic just yet. There are always errant yellow flags floating around during the int break
What the hell is up with Salah???
Seems to be a chronic lack of confidence.
Oh and he got a bit of a groin injury and has returned home for treatment.
Reports coming out on Newsnow Liverpool page that Salah out for 2 weeks.
Could make Shaq an interesting little punt for a couple of weeks. Or indeed Sturridge I suppose as they could always just shift Firmino wide a bit. Which means the uncertainty probably negates both thinking about it out loud
It’s a shame, that, especially with the Shaq so cheap. But what to do.
We won’t know until midweek, best to hold for now
Thanks guys already lost .2m on him not sure what to do ???
Just wait until official word comes out.
Can you afford 12.8 mill sitting doing nothing for 2 weeks? 11.3 mill gets you Hazard who is in fine form .Salah will probably go down when confirmation comes out,and Hazard is 50k from going up in price and is 47.5% owned. You get 1.5 mill to improve your team elsewhere. That’s assuming you don’t already own him!
Or if Hazard’s already in the bag then Mane springs to mind. Shaq for those who fancy a flutter.
On a WC, with 0.4m itb, thoughts on it so far?
Benching headache most/many weeks? Then again I’ve done me Christmas shopping already which means the Christmas rotation is near (and dear), which means your team actually looks rather good! Nothing to argue about, really, unless perhaps the fact that it’s tough to get another premium mid in with that midfield, if Salah starts firing or KDB becomes amazing value below 10m… Defense and attack are great!!
No Liverpool attack with only 1 top 6 team in their next 9 and 2 great fixtures next 2 seems dangerous for a WC team to me.
Good points. I was going to add that myself, forgot, then you obligingly came in and did it.
How many IB injuries/scares so far? I know the below among popular options:
Salah, Fraser, Rudiger, Patricio, Bilva
Anyone else?
You’re doing fine with that list. Don’t scare me any more. But are you spoofing about Patrício?
Physical problem…God knows what does it mean for a GK. I guess he is fine.

Thanks. Very gnomic. I wonder what it means. I doubt we’ll ever know.
A shame it didn’t say ‘aches and pains’ or ‘street sadness’ or ‘mother complex’ or something more interesting.
For those who struggle with either Portuguese or laziness –
Portugal has a session scheduled for 11:00 on the stage of the Sunday duel with the first 15 minutes to be open to the media.
After the training, at 12:30, national coach Fernando Santos and a player will speak to reporters at a press conference, also at Hampden Park.
Rui Patrício with physical problems, Pepe and Bernardo Silva, who started Thursday’s 3-2 win against Poland in Group A of League A of the League of Nations, were dismissed and failed the duel with the scots, joining the list of absentees Cristiano Ronaldo, who will only return in 2019.
Next thing you’ll be telling us is that you translate José Saramago.
Maybe ‘physical problem’ is a euphemism?
Wasn’t calling you lazy, simply translating for those for are who couldn’t be arsed to copy / paste into google translate. I doubt the Patricio thing is anything but we can but hope.
I know.
Shame it didn’t say ‘bitten by a vampire’ or ‘recovering from a Taser strike’.
Still tinkering with the WC Kralin? How’s it coming along?
I’ll be tinkering until the trap is sprung. May be saved the Salah headache by the look of things, but we’ll see.
Currently umming and ahhing over three premium defenders or two; King or Mitrovic; the rest is depressingly template. I did have a think about doubling on Liverpool’s defence.
Unfortunately that’s just the way unless you break ranks and go all Oscar Wilde: ‘Be yourself; everyone else is already taken’. Doesn’t tend to work out in FPL though unless you get seriously lucky. There’s a pool of about 18 to pick from I reckon, not counting substituting like for like on cheap defenders. Not saying it’s a good idea but whenever I play a WC I always make sure to take a punt somewhere, usually on the 4th mid. Someone with low ownership and decent fixtures who’s looked ok but just hasn’t quite yet attracted much attention. It’s usually someone called Puncheon or Walters but obviously that isn’t an option this time! It’d perhaps be Siggy this time if I was in that situation.
Yes, alas. I don’t need to do that to win my ML but I like to go for as high an OR as possible. Siggy is of some interest, as is Sterling. At the moment I have, of course, Richarlison and Aguero. But Sigs has been a good pal in the past (not that that should determine selection).
But Sterling to KdB (perhaps, as/when) and Firmino now instead of Kun, may allow for the return of Kun, if necessary.
Kenedy is a possible leap in the dark, but playing him in a 3/4/3 seems risky to me. But on the bench, very possibly.
Morning,
How is everyone?
Anyone made any moves yet if so what are they?
Probably just going to do Kane to Aguero unless salah is defo out. Would Alonso to Mendy be a good move?
Or should I be looking at Lacazette?
Morning Mitro,
You’v identified the two I’d recommend. Prob Kun for me.
Salah to Sterling could well work if Salah is out.
Not done anything yet, but will v likely sell Zaha for Mitrovic if I have no injuries to deal with.
How do Cookie! I hope you are well mate? It’s been a while, read a couple of your diary articles, I must admit I did have a smile on my face
I have been looking at sterling. could do this but it would be for a -8. (I am Trying to limit the number of hits the season)
Mitro,
I think if Salah is out yoi’ll get your -8 back…..
However, only a 4 at worst is probably necessary!
Hello Mitro. Did Holebas to Duffy after his match day. Thinking of saving the other FT for now and keeping Kane. Don’t know why, but i don’t think Pool shall score many against Hudds.
