Live Match Chat FA Cup Special FPL News
Welcome to Live Match Chat FA Cup Special FPL News. This weekend sees the 5th round ties for the FA Cup, meaning that it is a FPL-free weekend. However, FPL-free does not signify FPL-irrelevant far from it. If you scan through the fixtures listed below you will see eight Premier League teams are left in the competition and bizarrely all eight have been kept apart in the draw. Now a closer scan of those fixtures will show that all eight top tier teams are firm favourites to win their tie – possibly Leicester being the less obvious. We have banged on about GW28 for weeks now – and this is when we get to find out exactly how disrupted GW28 will be as that is when the 6th round of the FA Cup will be played. At present only three fixtures are guaranteed for GW28 and if results go as expected in the Cup, then those three fixtures will be our sole game-week interest.
Therefore, keep a close eye on this weekend’s games to see how GW28 will pan out and also to keep an eye on potential transfers and injuries etc.
We talk about about things going as expected, but of course life doesn’t always turn out like that does it? Look at Brexit, President Trump, Arsenal losing to Bayern in the round of 16…….
….the FA Cup really can produce some upsets and maybe, just maybe some Premier League teams may get beaten by lower level opposition. Who would ever have predicted lowly Bournemouth humbling holders Man Utd in 1984, reigning league champions Arsenal losing to Wrexham who were bottom of the the old fourth division in 1992, non-league Sutton knocking out Coventry in 1989, Ronnie Radford’s famous goal leading Hereford to upsetting Newcastle or indeed Wimbledon beating the then mighty Liverpool on the biggest stage of all at Wembley in 1988?
See below this weekend’s fixtures and to the right of each fixture the GW28 match which is at risk if the Premier League team win this weekend.
FPL carnage! Love it.

Afternoon gents, I have already done Alexis-»Mane and so I have no FT (3.1 ITB).
My question here, besides normal RMT in general if anybody cares, is: should I play with 10 men or take a hit (a -2, in truth) to bring Jaku for Pickford?
Also, if you’d follow the “take a hit route to play with 11” would you still prefer that to taking a hit for someone (and who) for KDB’s slot?
Basically,
a) stay put
b) buy jaku for a -2
c) buy Haz/Snoddy/Other for KDB for -2?
Cheers,
Hey DMC, now let me think, what would I do? Hmmm, it’s a toughie as you could make a great argument for selling any of your bench….
Pickford injured and DDG blanking so you need a keeper. (Though Pickford COULD return this week, so maybe wait for the presser?)
KdB – an expensive luxury with likely 2 blanks in 3 weeks?
Diomande – not a regular starter and taking up a vital striking slot
Amat – lost his place.
I would keep KdB as there is no-one midfielder really pressing for this week (Siggy next week).
So that leaves the 3 numpties….
I think much may depend on the pressers – I would get Carroll if Bilic says he is fit. If not get Jaku if Moyes says Pickford isn’t fit. If still a no for those two, get Robertson for Amat? Or just get Alonso!!!
Not sure I have helped….
I’ll give you a straight forward answer – transfer in a goalie who will play GW26 & 28. I’d almost lean towards shipping De Gea for a cheapie like Jaku. Then deal with your bench in the coming weeks
A shameful lack of waffle there Captain
Ehehe in deed Cookie ! I almost made the question based on the amount of waffle and even maybe some banter it could bring! Onto a plane in the next 10 mins or so, but your thoughts are much appreciated! Thx
Actually Cookie, I’m leaning towards not looking too much at my bench for these blanks and all. Unless of course I’d be doing it to field 11. Or get someone capable of god points which narrows it over a bit. Will ride it out for now and who knows maybe Pickford does recover! I see your take on DDG captain but the thing within for me is that I think Utd are getting better at the back right now and will probably enter a good spell of CS, bar the blanks, of course, and it will be nice to have a top team keeper for the upcoming DGW. Jaku though does tick both 26/28 boxes so that’s where I may be going if Pick is not confirmed. Taking off now! Turn off your electronics I hear! … Sir, I command you to stop waffling on FF247 now! Ok that last part may or may not be truth!
Safe journey DMC!
Cheers Cookie! It was in deed and I’m now being told the same on the way back to Lisbon! All will be back to normality when I land, including taxi vs Uber fight in the airport and Monaco trashing City!
Hey kids, are we all enjoying our hard-earned time off?… or like me, are you all just counting the minutes ’til 26? I’ve yet to make a move and currently have 2FT’s and 1.1 ITB… original plan was to go Amat and Ibra for Coleman and Costa.. but I’m thinking of just doing Amat to Maguire or Ranocchia (or even Mawson) now.. would leave me with 12 for this weekend if Lukaku plays.. and bring my tally to 7 for GW28 with 3 ft’s between now and then.. got a 50 pt. lead in my ML and don’t need to do anything drastic.. so.. Am I ok with leaving Ibra and Sanchez on the bench for this week or should I tinker some more.. Thank you all for your consideration…
I would just do the one transfer to replace Amat – you have a full team and if you’re happy with the squad in general then no need to use up the extra transfer – an extra week or two to check on form/fitness of players you want for GW28 onwards will be useful
Thanks for the vote of confidence RR.. I’ll wait a few more days to make sure nothing changes then probably go for one of the cheap defenders…. which would you recommend?
I’m looking to replace Holgate myself as non-playing bench fodder isn’t much use when blank gameweeks are around. Cheapest getting a game seems to be Stephens (Sou) at 4.0 and Fernandez (Swa) at 4.2. If you want to pay a bit more there are plenty of good options out there.
Highaction, if you are suitably placed in terms of personnel for GW26 in relation to your closest challengers then I would hold your transfer.
Is there anyone they have that can realistically hurt you?
Kane and Costa are the two that worry me..but no Chelsea defensive cover could as well… I’m not bringing Kane in right now.. and can certainly let Costa have a goal or two without too much damage.. and i’ve ridden out and increased my lead without any Chelsea defense for months now.. so.. probably play it conservative still… Thanks for the reply.
Hey guys hope you’re all well! I’ve already moved Sanchez out for Mane as many of you have. I’ve now got 3.2 and 1 FT, thinking of what to do next!
My options are:
1.Coleman in for Amat this week ( think he could do well against Sunderland
2. Nothing and Mawson and siggy in for Amat and Allen next week
Or something else! Help!
Hey Rosco.. I like the wait and play next week move.. Mawson and Siggy could both do well over the next few weeks.. and Coleman is no differential.. if that’s what you’re after..
Thanks Man, I’m not really bothered about a differential ( as siggy is probably as template as Coleman for the coming weeks) more just trying to get the right players for the most points!
Copy.. I think your team looks fine for this week and would prefer to have the 2FT’s going into 27. Who would you bench for Coleman and would he be such a significant advantage over that player?
I’d welcome your thoughts on my predicament above as well…
Yeah I think you’re probably right, I’d drop chambers for him but might be best to hold as working with 2 FT could be beneficial!
In regard to your team I like the maguire move, I was debating him or Mawson as both could be a decent pick in coming weeks. Sounds like we both might be better served saving 1 FT this week and work with 2 next!
cheers R77… just have to be patient now.. the hardest part..
Evening all feeling I made wrong move putting Haz in for Sanchez as Che blank in Gw 28 I’m really going to struggle in Gw 28 might be able to get six if I’m lucky I will take a hit this Gw & nk 😉
On the flip side Hazard is in reasonable form and could get good returns v Swansea and West Ham. As mentioned in one of the articles on here 7/8 players seems to be around the recommended number for GW28.
Silvers
Not sure why u went Hazard but if it felt right at the time then stick with it, good player plus Dgw ahead.
I assume uve already got Mane ?
6-8 in Gwk 28 is the average for us serious gamers
Those ghost team noobs will flop.
Cheers Captain & Big no I haven’t got Mane yes ideally I would like to have 7 maximum really need to take a good luck at this
Hi guys.
I have no clue on what to do. Could someone please help me?
1FT and 2.6 ITB.
How much does selling Iwobi plus your bank leave you for a replacement please viktor?
How very polite Init
Am I not normally?!
No
How rude!
Am i not normally?!
No
Ohh.. Wrong picture. Thank you for your time
How about him to Lallana? Snoddy is another option but you already have a Hammer. Maybe even Barkley for something completely different. Anyone who plays in 28 is what I’m looking at basically.
Arsenal 2-0 up

No cup upset
