Jumpers for goalposts and all that. Also makes our ever present ‘Motty’ picture seem relevant again which is a bonus!

Hey guys, started off OK thanks to Boyd, Downing, and Taylor. Tried to be clever and brought in Rooney for Costa early to save some money though and that went over like a fart in church. I have 4.4 in the bank and 1 FT. I’d like to upgrade Wisdom to Azpi to beef up my defense, and replace Rooney if he’s not fit. If I get Bony in for Rooney I could then upgrade Downing to Hazard the following week, or I could just do the obvious and bring Costa back keeping Downing as my 4th midfielder. It basically boils down to Bony and Hazard vs Downing and Costa until the Jan WC. Any thoughts?
Foster (Myhill)
Baines Taylor Hutton Dummett Wisdom
Sanchez Fabregas Siggy Downing Boyd
Aguero Rooney Austin
Hi Red I would chk on Rooney fitness first if hes out I would bring Costa back in I would then save cash to upgrd Austin in a couple of wks Wisdom has 3 good fixture so I would leave just now
Thanks Silver, much appreciated. As I have two WBA keepers I’d like to drop Wisdom as I never feel confident to double up on WBA at the back. Just not sure Fab, Haz, and Bony will do me better than Fab, Downing, and Costa. It’s a scary thought to not have Costa in the team, but I’m considering going double Chelsea midfield with Bony instead of Costa. The good thing is that the Jan WC is on the horizon so it would only be a gamble for 5 weeks or so!
How did you make out yesterday, did you start off OK?
Red Not to good a start 16 points , hopefully fair better tonight to play Courtois , Baines , Sanchez , Hazard & Kun Cap Im top of Woofbet GW14 though hopefully top 10 finish
Haha, nice job on Woofbet man! You’ve been doing well on there. Hopefully your players do well today, I captained Aguero too- hope he brings us some big points!
Sorry Red forgot to answer your ? I would get Costa & Azp or Cresswell still leaves cash in bank You have a good team there Red
Red
I like Bony with Hazard and Fabregas as your Chelsea cover. I had Fabregas and Hazard without Costa and it served me well earlier in the season.
Mind you, I now have Oscar, Hazard and Costa but that’s only because I like that Costa appears to be fit after his rest and Chelsea do have some nice fixtures.
Sorry, not much help
Thanks for the reply Gallant. Just got back from running some errands and was happy to see some replies. I’m leaning towards Bony at the moment with double Chelsea midfield just to switch things up a bit and try to make up some ground. A couple semi-differentials are needed or the template-ish teams seem to just keep pace with each other, ya know? Best of luck today with your Chelsea boys, but I’d appreciate it if Hazard stayed quiet until I can fit him in, ha!
Hi Red, bit late on this one but the love for Costa has dropped a bit it seems due to the lack of, well anything, except goals and even those haven’t been as explosive as once was. That said, a hat-trick v Hull and he’ll be everybody’s must have again. I’d be scared not to have him for that one but overall I think I like the sound of Bony and Hazard. There is a third option which is to actually keep Rooney (fitness permitting) and Downing. In all honesty, unless Costa goes nuts for a week or two I reckon there will be little difference between any of those pairings over the next 6 weeks or so. But that caveat is the scary bit.
Thanks Init, I appreciate it. I wouldn’t mind keeping Rooney if he’s fit, and then our brilliant move of bringing him in for Costa this week wouldn’t seem like THAT much of a cock-up, lol. I guess it will depend on his scan and the extent of the injury. Hopefully I’ll have a better idea of which way to go after the matches conclude today. Best of luck to you and your remaining players!
Hey Red,
Tough choices there mate! As Init said I would be wary of not having Costa for Hull at home, though to be Frank (don’t call me Frank!), Hazard could do just as well as will probably play more minutes in that game than Costa. Drogba and Remy will no doubt get some game time that day.
With that in mind I’d take the Hazard/Bony combo I think.
Thanks Cookie! Bony looked pretty good yesterday and could have had a couple goals to go with that assist if luck was with him. Bony and Hazard are both on penalties as well, and that’s an added bonus in my eyes. Hope your ballsy captain pick works out for you today, I almost went Baines with you but I bottled it at the last minute and put the armband on Aguero with Baines as VC.
Red, let’s hope they both score a brace. And Everton don’t concede!!
Cheers Red, and you and yours. Didn’t expect to be sat willing on Kun at this point in the week but hey, C’mon Sergio!
Alright everyone . . ?
Little help?
Assuming i have no injuries to deal with between now and Saturday in my front eight, I’ve finally saved up 2FT to strengthen my defence. 0.2M in the bank.
Where would you start?
Thanks
TGP – I’d start with Moore and Duff, both with hard fixtures and not playing/injured. Hutton and Wisdom are the obvious options but if my maths are correct you will be short of cash to get both. Yun is another option or Bartley but this is a bit short term, Wilson instead one of them could be enough to make both moves.
Ah, sorry Albertini, no offence on the no response thing below. Hadn’t seen this but I usually write the actual Fixtures article in less time than my response to GP took
haha no problem Init!
Your answer is much more elaborated, anyway!
Evening GP. Initially I saw this and thought it was a bit of a disgrace that nobody had responded given that you help all and sundry all week. But then I just sat down and looked at it properly and realised why. You’re not giving us much to play with here mate! 0.2 itb and a cheap as chips lot to begin with…
Here’s my take –
Duff and Heaton have an ok next 2 but then it goes South v quickly
Dummy has dodgy fixtures throughout
Moore has a tough run in general
Forster has a tough next 2 then its intermittent
Chambers can stay
Wilson has to go
So probably rid yourself of Wilson for sure, then pick one of Moore and Dummy. Probably Moore. Given that they are a worse team.
Given it’s the bottom end of the budget you are looking at I’d consider these 3 –
Villa – decent up until GW17
West Brom – decent up until GW18
West Ham – decent up until GW18
I’ll close off by saying what you often do though. I dinnae ken, really
GP, I’ll be completely honest to give you a full answer with 2 recommendations I’d have to do more work, which I’ll do tomorrow for you.
The obvious first move to me though is Hutton in for Moore.
Albertini/Init/Cookie,
Thank you all gentlemen for your thoughts. I thought I’d posted at a bit of a dodgy time of evening but I’m not upset don’t worry. And very funny Init – I realise I’m cheap at the back and that the pool of talent is a puddle. 😉
In truth, I’ve been thinking along the same lines as your suggestions. Init – those were the two out I was considering, Cookie – Hutton was coming in. Albertini – Wisdom was my other one coming in!
One thing I was considering and feel free to work with this, was to downgrade Forster to 4.5 to free up some funds to work with. I did fancy Adrian in for Forster but that only gives 0.2M.
Hopefully you can see already this evening why my front eight should stay as is I think.
