Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 12 FPL News: A two week gap in FPL can seem like an eternity, especially when you have to watch the international games knowing that you’re precious assets are literally risking injury at every turn. Thankfully it’s now over and we can return to normality this weekend. All the worry over whether Sanchez / Hazard / Costa / ‘insert your player name here’ is either fit / injured / on a plane / missed a plane / drunk / ‘insert daft rich player behaviour here’, is almost over. This is a rare PL weekend as we have a grand total of 8 games on Saturday. GW12 itself begins on Saturday lunchtime as Manchester United host Arsenal and runs all the way through to Monday evening when the excitement will surely reach a crescendo with West Brom hosting Burnley. You can almost taste the sarcasm in that one. In between those the title race hots up as new leaders Liverpool visit Southampton at the same time that most peoples early favourites Man City hit the road to visit Lord Pardew of Palace. Elsewhere Lukaku will be a much captained hero or zero, as he always is, as Everton entertain Swansea before Spurs and West Ham bring Saturday to a close with a London derby. After an unusually busy first day, Sunday will feel a bit sparse with just the one game, which sees the Chelsea juggernaut travel north and it’ll probably plough straight on through Middlesbrough without stopping before returning back down south with 3 points and another handful of goals and FPL points in its back pocket. Cherish it though, as then there’s Monday…

Hey people..So, By far the worst GW for me since I’ve started playing FPL.On 11 points with only heaton and hazard to play..I shall be in this sombre for sometime now..still.want to hold on to my FT for next week..I fear that next week also is going to be a disaster for me as all my attack contradicts my def..how are you guys doing?

I’m really tempted to drop Austin down to Anichebe and go 3-5-2. So many decent options in midfield

Perfected my plan with 4-3-3 formation
I’ll be rostering capoue and Yaya Toure for the matches Toure won’t play.

In order to afford Kane considering taking a massive hit to complete this plan before the price rises make it impossible If I’m going to do this it will have to be the moment I get a free transfer.

Now my question to you guys is should I take the hit and chug it out thorigjt the rest of the season and hope for the best l. Or do I take it slow thorigjt the weeks and not suffer massive losses at the risk of not being able to afford Kane. And if that happens should I transfer in Wayne Rooney instead of Kane under the assumption that Rooeny will play like he did in his golden years?

Looking at this just makes me wish I had saved my wildcard sad

      • Matt says:

Woah mate don’t go taking that hit. You don’t need Yaya or Coquelin. Also you could downgrade a defender to raise funds. You won’t be playing them all.

        • Waxys says:

Coauelin is just for funds hahah and Yaya Was amazing today if he keeps it up I need to have him.

Also I’ll be playing all my defenders to cover all he major teams.

      • Smash10 says:

Absolutely crazy. You should be downgrading the defence to upgrade the midfield

        • Waxys says:

At this stage Hazard and Sanchez are impossible for me to get and keep my forward lineup the way it is.

Clean sheets will make the biggest differentiators in he coming weeks if hazard doesn’t perform then what? With a cheap defence clean sheets are unlikely Everyone will have a cheap defence who will have a Chelsea defender when hey cost over 6 million?yet Chelsea haven’t conceded in a long time.

      • Don’t do it.
I got sucked into working out more points per £ in defence and did 4/5 at the back half of last season.
        It seriously doesn’t work.
Defenders don’t score enough points, & they rarely do clean sheets reliably enough.
This season even more teams are going for goals not Clean sheets, so they are even less reliable.
You need 200+ per player on the pitch end of season to have a good OR.
From last season defenders there were 18 who managed 120+ point, only 4 of those managed 150+ points Zero managed 200+ points. All the high pointers were on the pitch near 100% so you got those points by owning and playing them 100% – in other words you doomed yourself to needing an extra 50 points minimum from your front line for every defender you played.

        Mids there were 26 at @120+ of those 13 @150+ of those 2 @200+
        Fwds there were 9 at @120+ of those 7 @150+ of those 2 @200+

Expensive tho they are you should be able to have 2+2 who will get you over the 200 and find enough by buying/selling on injuries, fixtures, form from the many 150+ to make it.
This season there are less CFs being played, so expect to find more in midfield

        Mostly 3-5-2 with some 3-4-3.

Coutinho is carrying four midfielders on his shoulders there. That can’t sustain.

      • Waxys says:

Yaya Toure Carried city in the 2013 season. His shaking today impressed me greatly and capoue scoring shows me he’s still got it. Matic usually gets 6 points each week and if Chelsea keep up the clean sheets then Cahill will earn me lots of points as well.

Not to mention Kane Aguero and Costa. As crazy as this is I think it may work as Capoue covers for the weeks Yaya is out of rotation.

        • Admire you optimism but a midfield with any combination of two (or three) of Hazard, Sanchez, Firmino, KDB will leave you behind across a season.

The forward line is amazing I agree.

        • Waxys says:

I agree with what you’re saying at the moment the midfields outclass defence and forwards. However with the exception of Hazard ( yet to be seen) all the expensive midfields have tanked this week . Liverpool have many mids and they cannot all score. However forwards usually have a greater opportunity to score.
With defenders all it takes is a clean sheet and every defender gets points compounded with bonus points , game time points and if they score or assist that can potentially garner more points than the most expensive midfielder.

I agree it’s foolish to completely infinite mids but matic usually gets me 6 points a week, countinho is a gun and Yaya Toure has a lot of potential he did after all carry city in 2013. Which is why I want Capoue on beck to cover in case Yaya isn’t on rotation.

We’re not even to the half way point yet and I do think theirs time for change as it’s bette proactive and anticipate the change than be reactive.

        • “all the expensive midfields have tanked this week” –
This is one week in isolation so I can’t support that that is grounds to dismiss all the premium midfielders.

“With defenders all it takes is a clean sheet and every defender gets points compounded with bonus points” – Conversely all it takes is one goal, a deflection, a mishit or an own goal to have a plum 2 points.

“Yaya Toure has a lot of potential he did after all carry city in 2013 –
Yes this was three years ago when he was fitter, a focal point and it was under a different manager with different players (not entirely I grant you) around him. Be honest, would you be considering him if he even so much as made the bench yesterday? He needs to do a lot of convincing still.

“We’re not even to the half way point yet and I do think theirs time for change as it’s better proactive and anticipate the change than be reactive” –
Yeah sometimes true, but sometimes it’s easy to get carried away with one performance (Toure) or swept up in the name of the club rather than points output (four expensive defenders).

Good luck with your transfers but I wouldn’t take crazy hits for it.

Just my views I hope you understand.

        • Waxys says:

He’s right about the hits that was silly of me.

In all honesty EPL this season is very unpredictable but yeah their is a trend towards midfields not forwards like previous years.

I think I’ll hold of getting Yaya until he’s proven myself and get Kane and Heaton and Milner until Lallana gets back.

Thank you both for the advice! It’s greatly appreciated.
