Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 16 FPL News: And the silly season begins… Our first game-week on top of another, quickly followed by another. Expect rotation, expect the unexpected. As much as traditional team selections may go out of the window, expected results often do too. Welcome to the beginning of the reason they give us an opportunity to select 15 playing players. We hope you took that particular gift and didn’t squander it as it’s one you may well need, starting this evening, in all probability. Talking of which we begin with two games on Tuesday as Bournemouth face a suddenly rejuvenated Leicester, don’t get too excited though, they won’t get to play against Stones and co every week. Arsenal then face a beleaguered and strangely uninterested Everton at Goodison. Wednesday then sees a bumper night with 8 fixtures in total with the likes of Spurs, Man City and Chelsea all having games from which they should, in theory, have us all celebrating good fantasy points…

Whether they do or not please feel free to join us on the journey and post your thoughts, feelings, frustrations and hopefully celebrations. And no doubt the odd rate my rate as GW17 follows in quick succession!

    17 points just sitting there staring at me …ffs!
    Hopefully I’ll have a couple of non starters, but clutching at straws TBH .

  2. Not sure if it’s already been highlighted on here but Eden Hazard won’t play tonight as he hasn’t travelled with the club.

      I’ve seen a lot of the papers carrying the story on twitter so I’m assuming it’s real. Can’t find anything from the club officially but then the presser has been and they are not obligated to I guess.

      Could also be bad news for Costa owners and captainers.

      • And maybe a good one to Williams-on-the-bench ones!! smile

      • They could just play Pedro and Willian which will give Costa good service

      • Could he be on pens now though? No Haz and Fab unlikely to play. Has he taken them before? Mito would know.

        • Costa used to take them at Madrid but has not done so at Chelsea. Could be Luiz

        • Based on history it should be Oscar more likely, he has taken them more recently, Costa took one versus Sunderland 2 seasons ago. Guessing Haz, Fab, Oscar and Costa is the order. But with Conte who knows, he may have Costa ahead or like Smash says maybe even Luiz.

        • Luiz be nice! Oscar won’t be playing I wouldn’t have thought, he’s off to China for £60m apparently!

        • Like I said anyone could be up. Every manager has their own order or has them decide. We can only go by previous history and if Oscar is not about. Costa seems next up, but Could be anyone really.

        • Penalty should almost always go to the striker of the team. Unless you have a special player or a specialist.

        • Yep just seen Willian’s penalty stats and not only has he not taken any for Chelsea he also only had 2 at Shaktar missing 1! Probably Costa then. Or Moses!

        • @DMC, don’t remember Costa being great at them. He got spot kick duties when Falcao left Atletico. He was about 50/50 also in La Liga that season.

        • @Mito – yeah sorry I had to leave. He’s 14 scored vs 4 failed. The failed ones though were all big wins for atletico while several of the ones scored were either winners or one of narrow wins for them which pretty much defines the bloke: unplayable when he wants! Now give them to Cesc please cause I don’t have him!!

    • Ben Dinnery says it was a nock at the end of WBA’s game. Nothing serious it seems.

  4. Chelsea midfielder Oscar says he is on the verge of completing a transfer to Chinese Super League giants Shanghai SIPG.

    Reports in England have claimed the Brazil international is set to reunite with former manager Andre Villas-Boas after Chelsea accepted an offer said to be worth up to €60million.

    And the 25-year-old is now expected to complete the move when the transfer window opens after claiming that the deal is all but finalised.

    “It’s 90 per cent certain,” he is quoted as telling SporTV. “It just depends on a few bureaucratic details.”

    Wow just 25 years old and on verge of ruining his career :/

    • Money is his biggest motivation. A waste, yeah. Means he just doesn’t have that pro mentality to fight for his spot.

      • A shame as I think he is a quality player. Although he doesn’t show that quality enough to be a regular at one of the stronger teams in Europe.

    • Don’t know why we think athletes have to be any different than us. All of us would jump at a career opportunity that paid us way more than what we get now. Somehow though, the athlete has to be better than us and turn down the money.

      Fck that…Show me the money!!

    • Maybe Middlesboro def , Figuring you have a budget of 4.8mil, Jones is a good option, Question marks over his game time though.

      • Boro def is a good shout. They haven’t kept many clean sheets of late but it’s not like they’ve shipped a lot of goals and they’ve got some decent fixtures coming up.

    • Cholevas or Smith for attacking potential

      Or Francis/Ake for BPS attraction

      • Was looking at ake – he would free up some cash! But boro fixtures do look appealing

    • I’d transfer out Hazard for Firmino

    • Mitro – out of my head there’s Janmaat at 4.7
