Live Match Chat Gameweek 17 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 17 FPL News: After the excitement (maybe not!) of the midweek fixtures we are back with a long weekend of games beginning on Saturday lunchtime with Chelsea chasing records at Pardew’s Palace. We move swiftly on to four relatively dull looking games at 3pm, if we are being totally honest about it! It reads more like a relegation audition or next seasons typical Championship fixture list than any sort of Premier League bonanza. Ahem, sorry, we’re supposed to build you up into a frenzy of excitement to encourage the conversation about what is to come and what is happening aren’t we?! We’ll actually forgive you if you leave at 2pm and return at 5pm though, just this once! The evening game could actually be an interesting one as Man United visit West Brom, both of whom enjoyed midweek wins. Sunday begins with a south coast derby followed by arguably the clash of the weekend as Pep meets Wenger at the Etihad. At the same time as that one Spurs will seek to gain some ground on the leaders as they host Burnley. Our game-week closes out on Monday with another derby game, this time on Merseyside. Please join us to talk about the happenings on the pitch and share your teams joys or woes as the games go on. Rate my team posts are always welcome for the following week and will always be answered. Rant, rave or just wave, do whatever you want on here, it’s your platform as ever…

Evening all. My strike force is a bit of a mess!

I have 2 FTs but nothing in the bank.

Selling prices are: Costa at 10.5m, Stuani at 4.8m, Kane and 11.1m.

I’m thinking of keeping Costa (to avoid wasting money if / when I have to buy him back) and doing Kane —–> Ibra instead… is that reckless? Given that Kane’s my only fit striker.

If so: Stuani —–> 4.6m striker (Barnes? Not nailed…) or Coleman —–> 5.3m defender would be required.

Alternatively: Kane —–> Benteke? That opens up the option of (finally!) getting some Chelsea defence in there. Palace have some great fixtures coming up!

Benteke and Chelsea defence sounds nicer but Ibra could be an essential given United’s upcoming fixtures.

Any thoughts, as always, would be much appreciated.

Hi James, my initial thoughts on this were that I wouldn’t be p*ssing around with lower options I’d just jump in and get Ibra but having read it again you make a persuasive argument for the latter two. You can play a Chelsea defender every week knowing that more often than not it’s a 6 pointer if not more and Benteke’s fixtures look OK as you say. I think he’s still on pens too isn’t he?

      • jamesimmo says:

I believe so, aye, it’s the sensible pairing I think.

You’re right, though, in that not having a mid-price striker won’t kill me. Not having Ibra could.

        Now my decision becomes:

        1) Stuani —–> Barnes (nabbed a goal today after a rare start; can rot at 4.4m if need be).

        2) Coleman —–> Pieters (or any old cheap-ish defender… meh).

        3) Foster —–> Grant (or Randolph, actually, as an uber-differential).

I’m leaning towards 1) as Stuani just keeps on dropping in price.

James, bit of a curveball for you,how about Costa to Benteke,Kane to Zlatan ? Costa could possibly drop by .3m this week so his buy back price would be 10.7m meaning you only lose .2m.You could then look to get him back by maybe downgrading Payet and upgrading Stuani in a couple of weeks.

      inittowinit says:

Starts on the 14th. Assuming the normal 2 week ‘law’ applies they could in theory be called after 19 but I think it’s more likely they will all depart after 20. Not entirely sure though.

      • highaction says:

Cheers innit… that’s info helps quite a bit.

        • inittowinit says:

Not really mate, I’m a bit vague! Mito will probably have their flight plans though, he’s good at this stuff!

        • After GW20, should be when they depart. Articles on Sadio Mane from months ago always talked about him missing United as the first epl game he would not be there for.

        • DMC says:

That’s interesting Mito. I read today in a portuguese sports journal that they are due on the 2nd day of the year. This was about Porto’s Brahimi and they were saying that Algeria coach wasn’t opened to exceptions, etc., so it will be important to know in the next few days when do they need to go. Made a quick search but couldn’t find any relevant article on this.
Maybe, as you say, they can play gw20 on January 2 and then leave but for people like Zaha or Bony (I knew you’d be interested) who only play on January 3rd it may be too much.

Hey guys had no luck over the last month with my trades, any suggestions?

    – No FT
    – transferred costa to ibra before price rise/drop
    – ditch Kane for costa next week?
    – I need Sanchez also

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey guys,
My pan for GW18. Which option is right? Thanks so much!
    1. Iheanacho to Origi/Neregdo/Rondon/Lorrente
    2. Pedro to Lallana, Walcott, Sigurdsson,
    3. Kane to Ibrahimovic
    4. De Bruyne to Hazard, Sanchez
    5. With -4pts, combine 1,2,3,4.

Just Nacho to Origi/Negredo and you are fine for the week

      Vinci says:

I can recognise some of my own concersn in your team (Kane, Iheanacho, Pedro).
I’d be tempted to keep Nacho one last week. City plays Hull, if Pep finally starts him he could bring many points. If he were your only issue, I would change him anyway; I am just saying that I would focus on more pressing issues. For the same reason I’d hold on Pedro.
From your list, I’d do 4: Sanchez seems a must have and he has great fixtures. But you probably miss a couple of 0.1M, don’t you?
And then, if money is short or you want to keep KDB for Hull, 3.
