Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News: “It’s Christmastime; there’s no need to be afraid”… Sir Bob obviously never played FPL at Christmas. Then again, “And the Christmas bells that ring there,
Are the clanging chimes of doom”, maybe he did! It’s the day after the big one and we all wake up to find out whether the FPL Gods will be kind to us with rotation or if they will kick us in the Bob Geldofs. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day with the family, or doing whatever it was you did. It’s over now though, back to the (second) day job – FPL. And we are in full swing today with no less than 8 games. Cruelly, at least for those who indulged properly, we begin with an early kick off which means it’s an 11.30am deadline today. We hope this news doesn’t come as a shock to many and equally that if it does that you are reading this prior to 11.30am! We have the early game followed by six 3pm kick offs before Hull and Man City round off Boxing Day for us with the evening game. The GW itself then continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with a solitary game on each day. Just for housekeeping purposes there is a break on Thursday but then GW19 begins on Friday and there is a game every single day then up until, and including, the following Wednesday. Just to confuse matters that run of games spans two GW’s – the break is between Sunday and Monday when 19 ends and 20 begins. Worry not though, we shall keep you well informed of when you need to wake up! In the meantime please join us to talk about the happenings on the pitch during GW18 and share your teams joys or woes as the games go on. Rate my team posts are always welcome for the following week and will always be answered, do whatever you want on here, it’s your platform as ever…

Is everyone getting rid of Kane tonight? He’s predicted to go down was hoping on giving it till tomorrow

I got rid of him last week, and was happy to do so!
But since you hold on to him so far, I would keep him until tomorrow if I were you. If he shows great form, you will be rewarded to have kept faith in him and will surely want to keep him longer.
Except if this 0.1 ruins your future transfer plans…

I have to unfortunately if I want to bring in Aguero, I’ve had to to and fro all season now between early FT’s and late FT’s trying to guesstimate how much time I’ll be allowed before making decisions (Them price calculator sites have been invaluable again this season but I do sometimes wonder if all transfer information should remain hidden as in reality I don’t think we should be able to know how other managers are playing the game and while I’m complaining I’d ditch automatic substitutions and the VC choice next season to try and nullify the ghost ship teams a little, having 4 million odd teams now with only about 2.5 million active users is starting to get a little bit ridiculous, you should only gain points from your starting lineup ala NFL fantasy teams.)

    Walters goal. Pieters assist

    Hi everyone. And merry Christmas!
After three successive poor weeks (or was it four?) I am having a good one and hell that feels good!

    Heaton (Grant)
    Walker Hobelas Pieters (Nyom Kingley)
Sanchez Hazard Llalana Redmond (Pedro, suspended)
    Costa Ibra (Itchy)
    1 FT, 0.7 ITB

My two main options are: Kun (and poor defense) or Hazard (and better defense). I think that I will go for the latter, also because it would be easier to accomodate Coutinho when he will be back.
But I would prefer to wait before meeting that decision, and have a look at how Kun will perform when he is back, and whether Hazard will finally reliably score big points.

So for next GW, I was thinking Kingley–>Ake.
This would leave all options open, but obviously leave me with a team with one striker who sits on the bench, and the suspended Pedro.
    Any other idea?

      Smash10 says:

Yeah Ake would give you an option. Iheanacho would be my concern

      • Vinci says:

        Yes.
The problem with addressing Itchy now is that, if I finally decide to go for Kun, I will have lost a transfer for next to nothing (liking getting Llorente for just 2 GWs)
And since I have this Kingsley issue anyway…
The downside being that a well chosen 3rd striker could get me more points than a well chosen cheap defender…

I’d roll the free transfer over and see how the haz performs next week.
If you do shift him out I would get some Chelsea coverage atbthe back as their defence is mean at the moment.
