Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News: “It’s Christmastime; there’s no need to be afraid”… Sir Bob obviously never played FPL at Christmas. Then again, “And the Christmas bells that ring there,
Are the clanging chimes of doom”, maybe he did! It’s the day after the big one and we all wake up to find out whether the FPL Gods will be kind to us with rotation or if they will kick us in the Bob Geldofs. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day with the family, or doing whatever it was you did. It’s over now though, back to the (second) day job – FPL. And we are in full swing today with no less than 8 games. Cruelly, at least for those who indulged properly, we begin with an early kick off which means it’s an 11.30am deadline today. We hope this news doesn’t come as a shock to many and equally that if it does that you are reading this prior to 11.30am! We have the early game followed by six 3pm kick offs before Hull and Man City round off Boxing Day for us with the evening game. The GW itself then continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with a solitary game on each day. Just for housekeeping purposes there is a break on Thursday but then GW19 begins on Friday and there is a game every single day then up until, and including, the following Wednesday. Just to confuse matters that run of games spans two GW’s – the break is between Sunday and Monday when 19 ends and 20 begins. Worry not though, we shall keep you well informed of when you need to wake up! In the meantime please join us to talk about the happenings on the pitch during GW18 and share your teams joys or woes as the games go on. Rate my team posts are always welcome for the following week and will always be answered, do whatever you want on here, it’s your platform as ever…

I can get Lallana and Alonso in for Eriksen and Holebas but it has to be today. Will be a shame to lose Eriksen but I still have Kane and Holebas has been poor for ages.

    Any better suggestions?

    Front Three says:

I am not so sure about getting Lallana at this point given in the next 11 games, 6 of them will be against
    City(2)
    Man United
    Chelsea
    Spurs
    Arsenal

If you wanna score the first goal of the season real easy, that’s exactly what you want
    Sturrridge smile

I did Pieters to Jones for a hit at the last minute. That meant I played Grant instead of Foster. So I got 2-4=-2 instead of the 8 I would have gotten for not transferring and playing Foster & Pieters. I’m happy to be sitting on 61 with Kane to play but would have been ecstatic sitting on 71. Looking for a brace from Kane tomorrow!

Bob Bradley has gone. Is he statistically the worst Prem manager ever?

      Andy says:

He’s not even in the top ten, he never stood a chance at Swansea and I don’t think the next guy in will fair much better. Apologies for the Mirror link. With the amount of foreign managers in the English league system I’ve been pretty surprised at the level of hate being directed at an American.

      • SAFs_hairdryer says:

I don’t personally think he’s the worst manager but I said ‘statistically’ based on points per game. I doubt many are lower

        • SAFs_hairdryer says:

Just looked through the horro show on the link you posted. Can’t believe I forgot about Mick McCarthy! And Paul Jewell – 0 wins in 24 games – shocking

        • Andy says:

Eight points from eleven games will more than likely still keep him out of the worst conversation I think but it can all be very subjective, Hull for instance will over achieve this season and still get relegated smile

      • Raziel says:

Agreed Andy. Dude never stood a chance. Though, in all honesty, their last 10 fixtures haven’t been the hardest, they should have done better.

I don’t get why managers think it is okay to switch defenders every week though. No consistency.

        • Andy says:

Admittedly haven’t watched many Swans games Raz but I’ll agree with a settled back line being a decent tactic, I’ll imagine Sam at Palace won’t be very rotational unless forced.

      • inittowinit says:

I don’t think it’s an American issue Andy I think it’s just him! He’s lame. Watch his interviews, he can barely inspire himself never mind anybody else. I like Klopp, I like Pep, I like Jose – I never look at their nationalities or judge them on that, I look at the person and wonder whether they have it in them to lead. Those 3 do, he doesn’t. From what I see.

        • Raziel says:

You like Pep? Damn, you sure are a great human being. Mourinho I get. 😉

And Klopp, he owns the other pair. Klopp is the main man. What a cool guy.

        • inittowinit says:

Yeah sure, I like Pep, what’s up with him?!

        • Raziel says:

Personally not a big fan of fake humility. As long as he is winning, he acts like a great man, but as soon as things don’t go his way… you see another side. Mourinho is pretty much a prick always, so I don’t mind as much. Klopp on the other hand, always acts like a classy guy that doesn’t like to shave. Klopp is the main man with the plan. laugh

        • captain-kingpin says:

I’m a little removed from a lot of media being in New Zealand but I would hope the negative comments are aimed at the person and not the nationality. The EPL is such a melting pot and everyone needs to be accepted. Not everyone needs to be liked. Managers like Klopp are likeable because they are a little crazy plus has got liverpol playing some lovely football.

        • Raziel says:

Ps. I think the Americans themselves were the harshest critics before he entered the stage? The so called fans? Anyway, I am too far away from it all. England is so far from where I live and I don’t even speak the language.

        • inittowinit says:

You do alright with it Raz, especially the swear words! Just don’t say them when GP is around, he’s young you know 😉

      Smash10 says:

Yeah Swansea are awful they are going down. And I really dislike sacking managers on a consistent basis. They sold their two best players at the time

    Raziel says:

Lol, I was cheering for Pieters a tat too early. He went from 6 or 7 points to 3. 😉 Still take points versus Pool though. Let me think, if Pieters did not get that assist he would be on 0…

Firminho got a goal and 3 bps, this I like. smile
