Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 18 FPL News: “It’s Christmastime; there’s no need to be afraid”… Sir Bob obviously never played FPL at Christmas. Then again, “And the Christmas bells that ring there,
Are the clanging chimes of doom”, maybe he did! It’s the day after the big one and we all wake up to find out whether the FPL Gods will be kind to us with rotation or if they will kick us in the Bob Geldofs. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day with the family, or doing whatever it was you did. It’s over now though, back to the (second) day job – FPL. And we are in full swing today with no less than 8 games. Cruelly, at least for those who indulged properly, we begin with an early kick off which means it’s an 11.30am deadline today. We hope this news doesn’t come as a shock to many and equally that if it does that you are reading this prior to 11.30am! We have the early game followed by six 3pm kick offs before Hull and Man City round off Boxing Day for us with the evening game. The GW itself then continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with a solitary game on each day. Just for housekeeping purposes there is a break on Thursday but then GW19 begins on Friday and there is a game every single day then up until, and including, the following Wednesday. Just to confuse matters that run of games spans two GW’s – the break is between Sunday and Monday when 19 ends and 20 begins. Worry not though, we shall keep you well informed of when you need to wake up! In the meantime please join us to talk about the happenings on the pitch during GW18 and share your teams joys or woes as the games go on. Rate my team posts are always welcome for the following week and will always be answered, do whatever you want on here, it’s your platform as ever…

      • nishant says:

Wenger said it isn’t much of an issue

“Theo has a small calf problem, but a very small one,”

        The exact words
        How’d your week go?

        • inittowinit says:

Bit hectic mate! Birthday on Xmas Eve followed by 2, yes 2, Xmas Days and then another Xmas do yesterday with the footy lads. And then got dragged shopping this morning!

On top of all that I left my laptop at the mother in laws hence no new articles yet! Sent the Mrs to retrieve it now so we will have Capos this evening and then the site one tomorrow.

But if you meant FF then I think it’s 56 plus double Spurs defence tonight. Not great but glad I capped Ibra anyway!

          How are you?!

        • nishant says:

          That was really hectic mate.
But Christmas must be enjoyed to the fullest, which you definitely did. smile
You won’t have regrets later thinking what else you could have done

On that note, I wasn’t aware of your Special Day

          Happy belated Birthday mate
Or may be consider me the first one to wish you for your 2017 Birthday smile

I am really fine FPL wise. 73 points with a hit, I.e. 69 and Walker to come tonight

Santa did bring some really nice FPL points smile

        • nishant says:

Would you suggest any of these?

          1 Save Ft
          2 Wally to Phillips
3 Wally and Smith to Phillips and Alonso/Azpi for a hit

        • inittowinit says:

I’d be happy enough to save it I think assuming Wally plays.

        • nishant says:

          Cheers mate
          Appreciated smile

    Hi Guys,

Attached is my Team.Need experts suggestions.

    1. Is it worth to Replace Iwobi (Game time concern? is it Giroud nailed his spot which will lead Iwobi back to bench once Walcott recovered) , Can (Game time concern? is it Wijnaldum nailed his spot?I have Already own Lallana& Origi) or Moses (Aware that he is sure starter. His points are flat for last 5 Game weeks although operating as wing back? I have Already owned Hazard and Costa) for ANTONIO (is it West Ham fixtures nice?)

      Hey mate
How much is the money ITB? And FT?

I would do Iwobi/Can to Phillips if budget is an issue

    • 129.2
      inittowinit says:

That was a heck of a long number 1, I hate to think what 2 and 3 are like smile

I think Can and Iwobi are both liable to be rotated to some extent but you’d be unlucky if both sat out at the same time. I think you can get away with playing either knowing the other is likely to start if your chosen one doesn’t. Or just save yourself the headache and switch one for Philips or similar.

        Thanks Guys.
        I had the same thought.
I will leave this for another week or at least wait till Around the grounds got updated.

        • inittowinit says:

There won’t be an Around The Grounds this week mate, just don’t want you to be disappointed. If you need press conference info though just shout and we will do our best to assist.

    Matt says:

Afternoon fellas, just a question for you all about this Gabriel Jesus that City have signed for 1st of Jan? Was reading about him today and he has been given some big praise by Pele and Ronaldo who have called him better than Neymar and also the best no.9 Brazil have seen in years. Coming of them comments do you think Pep will play him with Kun??

    • 130.1
      Smash10 says:

Yeah the guy has a big reputation already. I believe he can play wide but yeah he could make an instant impact

    • 130.2
      inittowinit says:

I imagine he will initially compete with the other Jesus of the Navas variety and Sane for that slot on the right of the 3 behind Kun.

    • 130.3

He is best suited to play up top, but he does have pace on him and can be tricky on the ball and with the way Pep runs his team, a winger in the Nolito sense would still suit him. Nolito seems to constantly be in front of goal. He probably is the best 9 Brazil has seen in several years and while that is a compliment it also is a condemnation of Brazil since Ronaldo. They really haven’t produced great strikers in a while. Good player, he is 19 years old though, so I do wonder how Pep will take it with him.

Striker almost always and occasionally left wing is where he slots in. Guessing he could play right if he had to.

      Matt says:

@Smash, Init and Mito – Cheers lads some good views there. I think you are probably right and Kun will be left up top on his own. Haven’t really followed Brazilian football for a while so didn’t know they haven’t produced much I just assumed Neymar was the main striker. Will stick him on the watch list but I have a feeling City cover will stay out of my team for a while.

Seasons greetings everyone. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

Having a shocker of a GW18 so far on 30 pts! (3 spurs players left to play). My reluctance on bringing Ibra on a hit last week really made a big dent on my overall rank. Got 2 FT and 0.2ITB. What moves should i make to improve this sorry lot. Pickford injured so should i play without a keeper this week or take a hit to bring one?

    • 131.1
      inittowinit says:

Hi Eagle, personally I’d do Payet and Kane to Lallana and Ibra and ignore the keeper unless you can still do the Kane one plus a playing keeper in which case I’d consider that but not sure that’s possible.

      • Eagle says:

Thanks Innit. you’re always around to give solid advise. I was planning to do those exact 2 moves last night and when i clicked the transfer button, it re-directed me to the transfers page but this time with Kane’s selling price decrease and Lallana’s 0.1 rise. I lost 0.2 by clicking the transfers late before the price changes took effect. By the way can’t get Ibra and the GK move since i need the second transfer to fund the move.

        • inittowinit says:

Unfortunately you can’t get round the price rises by being on an old page. It always refreshes. Were you on it about 2am though and expected they hadn’t yet happened? Bit unlucky in the timing if so. Can you still do those though, price rises aside?

        • Eagle says:

I was on the page after around 7pm local time which would be around 1pm UK time. I guess I missed it by a few minutes. Anyways it gives me time to fully analyze what to do. Looks like i’ll be playing without a GK this week.

Jordan Pickford set for lengthy spell on sidelines in major blow to Sunderland
        • Goalkeeper suffered knee injury in Sunderland’s defeat by Manchester United
        • Pickford may require surgery and could spent three months on the sidelines

        • nishant says:

JORDAN PICKFORD has given Sunderland a devastating blow after being ruled out for more than two months.

        • Smash10 says:

Ffs now I need a keeper. What are the best cheap options

        • Andy says:

          Mannone Sun Hennessey Pal (4.3)
          Valdes Mid (4.5)

I’m not really sure on Grant’s situation and whether or not he’ll be heading back to Derby or I’d have popped him on the list.

        • Smash10 says:

Thanks. Can’t go Hennesey as Mandanda may be number one. May wait hopefully hear something on Grant as he maybe best. Valdes is a decent shout. Never really bothered about keepers as long as one plays

        • Andy says:

I’m the same, as long as they give me the opportunity of getting 2 points every week then the cheaper the better, anything else is a bonus.
