Live Match Chat Gameweek 20 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 20 FPL News: We hope you enjoyed your 17 hours free from FPL and football in general! Yes, you read it right, GW19 ended last night and GW20 starts this morning. Now if that doesn’t smack of rotation then we don’t know what does. Obviously the teams are spread out in some sort of equal ‘ish’ fashion but there is also the issue of having so little time that some injuries will not be reported on. It’s a bit hit and hope in that respect at this time of year and so the team sheets will be eagerly anticipated and we begin at 12.30pm with ‘Boro hosting Leicester, followed by four 3pm games and today ends with Man united visiting West Ham. Tuesday evening see three games, before our week and Christmas period itself finally ends on Wednesday with Spurs hosting Chelsea amid echoes of a certain New Years Day fixture two years ago ending up 5-3 to the hosts, albeit a few days earlier than the anniversary.

This is due to be my squad after the next game week (transferring in Jones for some United coverage in defence).

I’ve been looking at my options and one is to sell Sanchez and free up some cash. So with the same squad as above

    Which would you choose?

    a) McAuley, Sanchez and Rondon
    OR
    b) Vertonghen, Alli, Giroud

Answering you question I’d probably choose B. However contradicting that I wouldn’t be losing Sanchez; I’d be more inclined to go Pogba to Alli

      • IanDouglas says:

Yeah, I have considered that switch (Pogba to Alli). Makes a lot of sense, Alli is a bit more likely to score on current form and it would give me some Spurs coverage (as I already have Ibra for United). But as a United fan, I am quite enjoying seeing our improvement in form and Pogba is beginning to really make an impact on games. At the moment, I’m enjoying the prospect of having 3 United players (defender, midfielder, striker) in my squad. That said, Spurs have a nice little run and Alli is on great form so I may change my mind.

So my hit didn’t just work out, it made my week. And paid me back for a few of my other hits haha.

Origi and Hazard out for Giroud and Alli. Boom

Thanks to GP for the reassurance before my decision

    Hi all,

    1 FT, exactly 0 ITB.
I was planning to be wise, wait after the cup, and possibly bank the FT…
But now I am very tempted to do Haz->Alli.

I have been holding Hazard for a while, but his return is definitely not worth 10.4.
And the extra 2 mil would help me balance a bit more my Kun-Ibra-Costa team. I coud afford Philips and Baines, for instance.

All those prices are due to change, so should I do Hazard->Alli now? And possibly a hit for Philips or Baines right before GW21?

It’s a little bit risky but sounds like a plan. At least you will have a viable 4th mid then.

      Vinci,

Seeing as you still have Costa then in principle the move sounds good to me. Alli is in sparkling form and it’s never too late.

Whether you would go in just now is a personal choice. If I could afford to wait, then I would but that’s just me. If you like a risk and like how your team is shaped with it, then yeah go for it.

      Innit, GP, cheers!

Since I was lucky enough to have quite a good team value after 10 GWs, I normally try to avoid chasing price changes. But in that case, it is likely that Hazard will go -0.1 or -0.2, and Alli +0.2 or 0.3. I believe it is worth the risk, no hit is involved so far.

Giroud and Ali are the ones to watch out for. Everyone else Aguero included is old news. Keep whatever team you have but bring in Giroud and Ali or at least Ali he’s on form..

Help guys. I’m slowly losing ground in my ML and am wondering what needs to be done to get me moving up. I’ve got 2fts and 0itb and wildcard available if you think it’s needed. Any help much appreciated. Cheers

    lsd1980s says:

    Activated wildcard…

    Here is the preliminary team

    Grant, Foster
    Mee, Azi, Ake, McAuley, Amat
    Stanislas, Sanchez, Lallana, Ali, Philips
    Ibra, Costa, Giroud

In my haste, i sold out eriksen. But i am not wondering whether downgrading Giroud to Defoe and then upgrading lallana to Eriksen might be a good move?

Am i also spending too much on keepers?

    Thanks boys.

      Vinci says:

      Lsd1980,
      I like your team.
I wouldn’t struggle to get Eriksen; I’d prefer to have Pool coverage rather than double Spurs coverage. Pool may very well explode in the coming weeks, while Tottenham could turn less efficient.
If you want to scratch some funds, I’d rather downgrade one of Stanisals or Philips for De Roon. Your keepers are already cheap, and I wouldn’t turn one to a non-starting one to save 0.2M.

      • lsd1980s says:

        Thanks Vinci,

Appreciate it. Any concern about Giroud being a non-starter? And also do you think not having City coverage is wise?

        Thanks again!

        • Vinci says:

Giroud non starting is a possibity.
But as Cookie mentionned above, you would probably get more points from him playing the last 20 minutes of a game than from a weak 5th mid, in average. And he will certainly start more often than not!

The problem with City coverage is that the only promicing player – Kun – is so expensive. KdB is great but expensive, and does not score that many points. And the others (Silva, Yaya, Navas, Sterling, Nolito) rarely score a lot…
Personnally, I went for Kun on top of Ibra and Costa, but that was 1- because I was lucky enough to have quite a high team value and 2- to the price of half my team (the defense and 2 mids) being less than 4.5…

So my personal feeling in your case is that the Giroud/Lallana/ni city coverage configuration is the best compromice.
          But this is highly arguable!
