Live Match Chat Gameweek 24 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 24 FPL News: After the hectic and somewhat disappointing midweek madness it’s straight back on the horse again barely three days later and we begin with a cracker at Saturday lunchtime. Arsenal practically wrote themselves out of the title race with that limp showing against Watford and if they are to have even the slightest chance of catching leaders Chelsea then this is a must win. We then have a chock full Saturday of entertainment with six 3pm kick offs before Spurs end our Saturday fun as they host ‘Boro in the late one. That leaves just the two on Sunday and Man City open it by playing Swansea in what looked likely to be a walkover a few weeks back. Maybe not now though, let’s see. Current Champions and current relegation strugglers Leicester round us off for the week by welcoming Zlatan and co at 4pm. Be sure to get involved as ever and post your comments below as the matches take place, your thoughts on them, your teams performance, your next moves ahead of GW25. Anything really, it’s an open platform. Most of all enjoy the games and good luck!

  1. I’ve got 5.1 to spend on a defender.
Is there much more benefit to getting Williams rather than the cheaper Funds mori?

    • Neither producing more than the other and no reason why either should.

    • Williams is s guranteed starter. While FM is a starter but I’m not sure he’s guranteed to start looking at his play time.

    • Given that they let in 3 yesterday we might see Holgate return in a back 3. He would then be the cheap way into defensive points and Baines and Coleman would be the more expensive attack minded options

    • Thanks all

  2. Does anyone know anything about Hull? This new manager appears to be working miracles, and with guaranteed gametime in weeks 26 & 28, is there any value to be had? If so where / who? Even if they end up as a rotator / bench fodder, someone like Robertson at the back for 4.3 is tempting.

    • I’m sticking with Jak hahah

    • banjo

I actually like Kamil Grosicki as a punt for weeks 26 & 28. A player with a decent goalscoring record from particularly at international level with Poland.

Bringing him in along with Sigurdsson and using Snodgrass an Phillips who I already have is something I’m thinking about lining up with as my midfield four for these gameweeks. Just one idea I’m swirling around my mind this morning.

Ranocchia looks decent. I was actually surprised they managed to get him!

      • Hi GP. Grosicki is an interesting shout. That never would’ve made my radar. Problem is my midfield currently consists of Sanchez, Alli, Snoddy, Phillips & Fletcher. It seems sideways to ditch Snoddy, Phillips or Fletcher as they’re guaranteed gametime. I’m then very reluctant to move Sanchez or Alli, as I’ll lose shitloads on them. Therefore I may look elsewhere, i.e. defence. I think I’ll monitor this Ranocchia, with the view of finally getting rid of Amat. Thanks.

    • Banjo, to be fair Hull have played some pretty good football in a number of matches earlier in the season. However they were generally poor at the back and/or unlucky (I think it was the West Ham game where they could have scored a hatful themselves but still lost) Yesterday Liverpool should have scored a few as well.
Therefore I would stay away from the back line.

Jakupovic is a cheap option for GK as he may get a number of save points.
N’Diaye could be interesting as a cheap attacking mid if you need one.

      • Thanks Leprechaun. See my comment above as to why I’m reluctant to change the midfield. Jaku is an obvious move. I do have foster, who isn’t affected by gw 26 or 28, but long term having him as a rotator could work.

  3. Good morning guys. I’m happy for once in the FPL world. I brought Lukaku in and gave him the armband. I’ve got Ibra and Aguero today so fingers crossed ?

    • Magic stuff smithy.

    • Exactly the same here smithy! God bless good old reliable LKK 😉

To be honest, he’s saved me. My other 8 players only got me 21 points!

      • I can honestly say I deserved it! I’ve had rotten luck with captain picks all season. I’m also expecting a brace each from Ibra and Aguero! Not to much to ask for world class players against poor opposition (as long as Aguero plays).

        • Well I hope your expectations come true!

  4. Hey guys.. Having a decent week after long. Lukaku captain saved me. On 63 right now with sterling, Valencia and Ibrahimovic left to play. how do i get Alonso into this team? Snapshot attached. Or any other suggestions?

    • Hey constantine. I’m of a similar mindset. How can I get Alonso. I think you’d have to lose Ibra. Maybe for Defoe? Then Amat to Alonso would still leave some funds to boost the midfield. In all honesty, it’s your midfield that concerns me the most. I’d want to upgrade one of the budget guys to someone a little better. Snoddy perhaps?

      • Thanks for the reply Banjo. Actually I dont want to lose ibra just because of a blank. Utd have decent fixtures ahead and ibra has to be at the very focal point for their games. Thinking of getting rid of Sanchez (even though they have hull ahead, as hull seem to have transformed under marcos). Amat needs to go, yes. I’ll be preparing my team for gw28 too once we’re sure of the teams blanking by GW26 most probably

    • Constantine

With potentially two blanks ahead, it would be Valencia making way for me. As you have Kane, what about Eriksen to Snodgrass? That would hopefully also help you improve Barry or Fraser further on.

      • GP. I like the Valencia transfer pick. Had Alonso and Walker both in my team till GW20. Got Alonso out in the week he scored 21. He’s increased .4m since then. sure loss. Anyways, what do you think of doing Valencia and sanchez to Alonso and any MF?

  5. Gents

Do you think these moves sound ok?

    GW25 – lallana to snoddie
GW26 – Ibra and Sanchez to Lukaku and hazard/Alli

This would leave 4.8 ITB – or is there better moves I should be considering? Could keep Sanchez and upgrade sterling to hazard

    • Mitro,

Lallana to Snodgrass and see how the next week goes. You might need to keep an eye on Sterling with the blanks ahead. Sigurdsson for him would be fine and bench Ibra for his blanks. As Cookie says Ibrahimovic looks excellent for GW27 and then GW29 & GW30. Taking him out is wasting transfers I think.

    • Mitro, I’d not lose Ibra yet. Lallana to Snodgrass looks good as a preparation for the blanks ahead.
