Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News: And there it was gone! 37 weeks have flashed before your eyes once more. And 38 will do the same as well because all 10 games happen on the same day at the same time. It always seems a bit cruel to have all your FPL hopes and expectations finally decided for you in such a swift fashion. Especially since we’ve all agonised over relatively minor points in game-weeks which have sometimes dragged on for as much as 7 days, as GW37 did. But that’s the way it is. Strap yourself in for a smidgen over 90 minutes. It’ll be agony or ecstasy for many. We hope it works out for you all. It wont. Not for everyone anyway. If it does then feel free to share and celebrate your success. If it doesn’t then know you have friends to share that with too. We’ve all been there and seen both sides of the coin. In a nutshell that is what has made this community great over the years, there’s a mutual understanding and respect and an empathy for whichever way it works out.

As the season comes to a close we would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Live Match Chat discussion throughout the campaign. You make each match day come alive with every comment. It’s been a pleasure to watch each game-week unfold from the eyes of dedicated FPL players but also just football fans in general. The discussions that arise can range from the sublime to the ridiculous but are always entertaining regardless!

Unfortunately we don’t have any World Cup or Euros to entertain and keep us busy over the summer but fear not as we will be staying ‘relatively’ active. We will forgive you if you need a break of course but we have a good number of articles in the pipeline already. We have a couple of interviews lined up and then we plan to gear up for next season with some articles featuring the promoted teams as we always do. And if you are playing MLS then Guy will of course be publishing his tips on that as normal every week. However you choose to spend your FPL free summer we wish you all the best, we thank you for spending the season with us and we hope to see you again in August to begin the merry go round all over again!

Afternoon all, some great ORs being posted, well done to one and all. Out of interest who had the highest rank out of the regulars around here ? Derek did that interview with Cookie and i haven’t seen him around since, Cooks you can let him out the cellar now, the seasons finished. As for the worldwide FF247 league, i don’t know any of the top managers, thank god for the regs league. Anyways well done to everyone on here.

From what I’ve seen Red’s score has been top of the pops so far although I’m not sure where Derek Snr ended up, I do recognize one of the names from the top 10 of the the main FF247 league but I haven’t seen him post since he threw a wobbly about everyone starting Bojan on the opening GW a couple of seasons ago.

I looked up Derek SR last week and he was around the 600 mark, not sure where he ended up!
As Andy said, Red was the top one I’ve seen, I know Colonial was 3rd in the regs league, I got 5th and other than that I only really know Mitro, Pancho and obviously Init in the top 10

Thanks for the help guys. After a top 10k season, a top 5k season. This season I ended up in the top 20k. And it has been a pretty horrific season, apart from the last two to three gameweeks. Really funny, I have made much ground in the last weeks. smile

As many others have said, thanks for all the support, tips and general light hearted laughs.

By the way, take a wild stab in the dark when I started following the site from the pic below?

Some pointless info, but some of you might like it.

Looked through the Dream team and found that the most common formations were in this order.
    3-4-3 15 Times
    3-5-2 10 Times
    4-5-1 6 Times
    5-3-2 4 Times
    5-4-1 2 Times
    4-4-2 1 Time

As far as top scorer per GW goes
Kane and Son were top 3 times
Cahill, Ibra, Lallana, Alli and Alexis were tied at 2

Out of the top 20 FPL scorers
    11 were midfielders
    6 were forwards
    3 were defenders (All CFC)

As far as the points per 90 goes, only judging those that played significant minutes
    Kane 8.0
    Son 7.6
    Alexis 7.4
    Coutinho 6.9
    Pedro 6.8
    Hazard 6.8
    Alli 6.7
    Aguero 6.6
    Mane 6.3
    De Bruyne 6.2
    Eriksen 6.2
    Lukaku 6.1
    Ibra 6.0
    King 5.9
    Alonso 5.9

Players like Costa 5.7, Siggy 4.9, Firmino 5.3, Defoe 4.5 and Vardy 5.2 were high on the points list, but weren’t great on the PP90 list.

Guys to watch for next season, if they move clubs, stay injury free or simply get a starting spot.
Trippier was tied with all defenders for most assists with 5. He only played 568 minutes this season. Grabbed 7 bonus points in them few minutes. If Walker is sold and Trippier becomes a starter, one to keep an eye on. Gabriel Jesus was utterly ridiculous with a 9.3 PP90, he is one to consider if Kun stays and might be mandatory if Kun Leaves. Ake and Kompany were very good when they played, if Ake starts anywhere and Kompany is fit and starts, also keep them in mind. Coleman when he returns from injury, he was doing very well for a defender and along with Alonso were the only defenders who stayed above 5.0 PP90 of those who played significant minutes.

This chart is a Dream Team formation and best FPL points per GW chart.

Was doing some research on one of my favourite subjects this morning, namely hits!
Below is a list of the top 10 teams OR (on the left) and how many hits they took. Make of it what you will but thought it was something some of you may find of interest!

    1 – 8
    2 – 5
    3 -7
    4 – 9
    5 – 7
    6 – 6
    7 – 9
    8 – 12
    9 – 12
    10 – 5
    20 – 7
    30 – 23
    40 – 11
    50 – 12
    100 – 18
    200 – 37
    301 – 16

I think it shows that the top top teams are fairly restrained with their hits but position 200 shows you can still get a mighty impressive rank despite a number of hits (37) that makes Mitro (26) look reserved!

I ended up taking 19 with a final rank of 2109, I think next season I’ll certainly be trying to keep them down but as the figures show, you can still achieve a solid rank if they’re considered or unavoidable!

      Pancho says:

This is good stuff Rosco! Worth pondering for sure! And again, great season for you!

      • Rosco77 says:

Thanks and you Pancho, your final day score had me very very nervous in the regs!!!
Hopefully I’ll get a doubles partner this season, remember asking as a Newbie last year and nobody would take me up on it! Reckon i’ll see if Milburn wants a Geordie Double up!

        • Pancho says:

I’m not sure I want to know what a “Geordie Double-Up” is. Tried YouTube-Ing it but I think I’m glad nothing turned up smile lol

        • Rosco77 says:

Haha yeah I’d avoid that one especially if your’e at work!

Where in the US are you from Pancho? We ( the wife and I) love America, we come over every summer, in time I’ll visit more places but its largely been West coast with the occasional trip to NYC.

We’re heading back to L.A, Palm Springs and Vegas which pretty much mirrors last years trip, I’ll be there for week 2 in FPL and as last year found it so weird setting my team before going to bed and then waking up to half the matches already over!!

        • Pancho says:

Rosco, we live in South Dakota. It’s in the middle and nothing really worth visiting except maybe Mount Rushmore. We’re about a 4 hour drive southwest of Minneapolis and halfway between Chicago and Denver.

      Rosco

Told you I wasn’t that bad when it comes to hits!! 😉

      inittowinit says:

Really interesting that Rosco. I have a bit of a vested interest in hits now after that piece I did for the mag. I’ll be looking at mine later in more detail to see if I did more or less after it given that the premise was that they seemed to work, for me anyway. I have a feeling I did more after it.

      • Rosco77 says:

I certainly began looking at them in more detail after reading your article.

I think early in the season I perhaps made a few that could have been left, but as the season went on I was a little more willing to stick with good players ( players like Sanchez) even if they had a few blank weeks. For me it was all about learning the game and I’ve put a lot of effort into reading/listening to anything and everything I could to improve on my first season.
I’ll be looking at my own personal hits in detail this week to see how the hits worked over the long term and if I’d have been better to ride them out. I think I know what I’ll find in that I had players like McCauley from GW1, only to ditch him before he started popping up with dubious goals!
