Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News

Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 38 FPL News: And there it was gone! 37 weeks have flashed before your eyes once more. And 38 will do the same as well because all 10 games happen on the same day at the same time. It always seems a bit cruel to have all your FPL hopes and expectations finally decided for you in such a swift fashion. Especially since we’ve all agonised over relatively minor points in game-weeks which have sometimes dragged on for as much as 7 days, as GW37 did. But that’s the way it is. Strap yourself in for a smidgen over 90 minutes. It’ll be agony or ecstasy for many. We hope it works out for you all. It wont. Not for everyone anyway. If it does then feel free to share and celebrate your success. If it doesn’t then know you have friends to share that with too. We’ve all been there and seen both sides of the coin. In a nutshell that is what has made this community great over the years, there’s a mutual understanding and respect and an empathy for whichever way it works out.

As the season comes to a close we would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Live Match Chat discussion throughout the campaign. You make each match day come alive with every comment. It’s been a pleasure to watch each game-week unfold from the eyes of dedicated FPL players but also just football fans in general. The discussions that arise can range from the sublime to the ridiculous but are always entertaining regardless!

Unfortunately we don’t have any World Cup or Euros to entertain and keep us busy over the summer but fear not as we will be staying ‘relatively’ active. We will forgive you if you need a break of course but we have a good number of articles in the pipeline already. We have a couple of interviews lined up and then we plan to gear up for next season with some articles featuring the promoted teams as we always do. And if you are playing MLS then Guy will of course be publishing his tips on that as normal every week. However you choose to spend your FPL free summer we wish you all the best, we thank you for spending the season with us and we hope to see you again in August to begin the merry go round all over again!

David Moyes has resigned as manager of Sunderland.

    Beware Watford supporters smile

Haha I didn’t think he’d leave this early.

      • Rosco77 says:

Maybe they can get ‘The Lord’ I hear he’s free, or John Carver as he’s the best manager to have worked in the prem! haha

ah I do feel sorry for their fans though as I work with a few and they’ve had to suffer some dross of late.

Good news for Sunderland, I’d say they’ve got a fighting chance of staying in the Championship now!

I find it an odd decision all round. Had he not been in charge he’d have probably been a prime candidate for the post given his previous experience in that league. He just looks like he’s had the stuffing knocked out of him. Proclaiming in August that they were crap and would probably get relegated possibly wasn’t the wisest move though!

        • RedVT says:

Yeah, those comments were really strange Init. To be honest, he’s looked pretty shattered to me ever since the United job went tits up. You’ve gotta respect the guy for grinding it out at Everton all those years without loads of money to spend on players, but I’ll never understand why Ferguson hand-picked him as his successor. There’s the Scottish connection, and the rivalry with LFC connection, but other than that I’m not really sure. I also don’t understand why in the world he’d go into United and start messing with one of the most winning formulas/systems in the world by chopping and changing so many things from the off.

Part of me thinks Ferguson knew it wouldn’t end well and wanted someone to struggle, rather than bringing in Mourinho or one of the ‘bigger name’ managers and watching them succeed, as that might take some gloss of his own legend or something. But who knows? In Moyes’ defense it hasn’t gone easy for anyone else who’s taken charge either though!

        • DMC says:

That’s one way to put it. The other is that he managed to make 24 top flight pts with ‘that’ sunderland team. #Legend smile

        • inittowinit says:

Red I think you’ve nailed his downfall right there – go in and take over but don’t touch anything else. The second he did that the writing was on the wall. Surprised they (SAF) let him do it.

    Evening guys
Just wanted to say a big thankyou to all the writers on here,
Without your fab tips articles God knows where I’d be.
Having started the season well reaching the top 5k I went in to free fall, dropping like a stone to 456k.
You guys and our fab community helped me finish 50k overall and win my ML buy 70 odd points.
    Thanks.

Topped all my private leagues comfortably, except one. Jumped from 3 to 1 in one of my ML on the last day. Also got one pesky H2H ML on the last day; just that one guy remained elusive to the end.
One that got away, Wenger style.

Due to this being only my second season, I panicked a lot. Made some stupid moves in hindsight because I either overthought it or listened to advice that went against my gut.
However, the two big decisions I took towards the end redeemed me. One was my unshakable trust in Sanchez; and the other was believing Kane’s promise; I took him at his words and capped him. Both paid off big. It’s important to listen to your gut. Lesson learned.

My best season; however this being only my second season, it’s not saying much. Everyone has a poor first season. Finished around 480k last year. 18k this year. Raring to go for the next season.

Nike – congrats on that rank mate. Well done. And that’s a brutal TV you got going there, especially considering the hits vs OR. Am I right if I say all or almost all of your hits imediatly paid off?

      • Nike_007 says:

I’ll have to do an analysis to check that, but off my head, they weren’t overwhelmingly good or bad for the most part. I guess I just had my share of “When they fire, they explode” moves, and not too many of “When it rains, it pours” mishaps. And I had both Sanchez and Kane in the end stretch.
But yes, to answer your question, being a cautious player, I did put some thinking behind each hit – mostly – so most of them gave me something, and like I said, there were no ‘Gabbiadinis’.
