Pottys Predictions Gameweek 2
Hi all my Potty Punters, just as we catch our breath Gameweek 2 is upon us in a flash but before we move onto my plans for you this weekend let’s reflect on the past week. So 41 of you walked through Pottys Bookies door to play ‘The Six Pointer’ and early indications show that many more will follow this weekend? The majority of you went with the picks of Costa and Fabragas in the deciding fixture between Burnley and Chelsea but by then the damage had been done for 2 lucky punters, yes Horse and NIN’s quartet of Rooney (C) / Ramsey /Sturridge / Sterling had gained them both 43pts so the 17pts Costa and Fabragas added to their total’s means these two FF247 members are the joint winner’s for Gwk 1 and your medal’s are in the post for you as you read this. HORSE and NIN well done lads.
So who remembers that old TV competition starring Ted Rodgers and his Dusty Bin? (I bet Kop and Elleffcee do), well I give you Pottys……..

Pottys 1st Plonker of the Week Award
This was not an easy decision to make as many failed to nominate a Captain which cost those dearly but I give this weekly honour to Rick Grimes whose 6 chosen players netted him a diabolical 25pts. Sorry Rick!

Ime currently in a money league of 25 people. Ime sitting at 13th with 51 points and this week it seems every in captaining Fabregas or Costa. Does anyone think Sigurdson could be a good gamble. Swansea has Burnley at home?.
Morning, I don’t think it’s a bad call at all mate
Morning mate. Ime just hoping Fabregas doesn’t do much and then my whole league loses out. I already have him aswell so I can’t fall that behind if Sigurdson doesn’t do much surely.
Ant, I wouldn’t be too worried about being behind in your mini league right now – I’m not. Just careful planning, some discipline and patience will see you climb the league. Don’t forget, May is a long way away, don’t need to start chasing this early, you need to plan.
Well said Cookie planning is the game was bottom of leauge or there abouts for first 3 mths & managed to finish 1st / 2nd mini Leagues & 6000
What type of planning do you do cookie?. Do you just keep an eye on players and fixtures?.
Ant, obviously fixtures are important – for instance look at Liverpool fixtures from GW4 and Everton from GW6 I think it is – it may well be that you think a Sturridge, Sterling, Baines or Lukaku may be good options from then – therefore you may need to raise some money in the weeks preceding that.
Also, spotting the bargains are where you can steal a march on your rivals, especially those that don’t follow FF247 or come other FF site. I’ll give you an example, Ramsey was tipped by Init before GW1 last season and we all know how that turned out!
Many will be piling into Hutton, as he kept a clean sheet and is 4mln but maybe haven’t seen their fixtures coming up soon…it may well be there are better options at the same price…Dummett maybe? He didn’t keep a clean sheet so may have flown under the radar and their fixtures are good.
There’s other stuff that people don’t think about…will Hull’s Europa campaign mean rotation in the league, same with Spurs and Everton.
Form is obviously the most important – everyone can see Fabregas and Siggy grabbing the headlines at the weekend – but it’s the detailed stuff that makes the difference. People saying Tadic playing well, despite losing – he will be ignored by the casual manager, but their fixtures are now good….can prob say the same about JWP at 5mln. That’s just 2 examples….grab the detail, not just the headline.
Thanks Cookie. My problem last year was taking hits all the time. There was a week where I took 24 points and my team only got me 28 haha. Won’t be doing that this year.
Ant, I think we’ve all learnt lessons season-by-season, I’m sure Mito has prob taken a 24pt hit a few times!!
Hi Ant, this is my second season too and tbh I didnt even know the concept of doubling the captain’s points till GW9. leave others jargons apart. but, trust me.keep an eye on all the articles from this group. they are real good. dont just be impatient if one of the GWs goes bad. I went through all the GW scores of tom(13/14 champ), and even he scored once or twice in 40s adn many times in 50s.still he was able to make 2634 at the end. dont make an extra subs unless required heavily. at last its just a game of hit and trials. none of us are the foreseers and cant predict any game score. but ya, can go with the best possible probabilities and combinations and choose our squad accordingly. ok..written a lot. cheers
Is filipe Luis going to play this week
Dazza, if we only knew the answer! You would assume he’ll get a run out soon, with many speculating last week that Mourinho would debut him at home and away at Burnley, so fingers crossed for those Luis owners.
Cheers
So, after a great debut(ish) in the Premier League, Fabregas is the most talked about player it seems after picking up 2 assists. I look at the main stats behind his performance, and whether there are better options out there.
Fabregas leads the assist table with 2 assists to his name after the first GW. He created 3 chances for Chelsea against Burnley, proving the quality he possesses in the final third is still what it once was. Fabregas didn’t manage a single shot on goal during the game though, perhaps highlighting his deeper role and reluctance to shoot from afar.
But it’s a name most of us won’t be expecting that leads the way for creativity in the first weekends games, with Joey Barton (yes this isn’t a joke!) creating 6 chances for the newly promoted QPR. He also had 2 shots at goal, however neither were on target.
Perhaps a better option would be Alexis Sanchez, playing against a Crystal Palace side that still proved to be a solid defensive unit, he managed to create 5 chances with one of those being an assist. He also managed 3 shots at goal, with 1 coming from inside the box and being on target. With Ozil on his way back, we could see Alexis playing higher up the field.
Many discussions were had before the new season kicked off regarding Manchester City’s strike force, and whether Jovetic or Dzeko was the best option. The latter seemed to have paid off for those who went with him, although it was Jovetic that stood out statistically from the crowd. Jovetic created 3 chances to Dzeko’s 1, but Dzeko managed to gather an assist for his. Dzeko also managed to take all 3 of his attempts at goal from within the box, where Jovetic managed the same number with 2 extra from afar. The return of Aguero could limit the time Jovetic has on the field, and it’s still up in the air between these two.
Another standout performer of the weekend was Raheem Sterling, he managed to net a goal and an assist towards his points haul, whilst creating 2 chances and taking 4 shots at goal with a 75% shot accuracy. His teammate Sturridge managed to create zilch all game, whilst having one less attempt at goal, with only 1 of those 3 being accurate.
thanks Flingy, so I should ignore Fab and grab Barton – that’ll save a few quid!! Only joking ya, great analysis mate, cheers.
Nice bit of info Flingy Barton beleive it are not is in my side he is a useful 5th Mid FK / Coners
Thanks Flingy, some excellent points there! I also thought the Southampton boys; Tadic, WP and Davis played well. Would be interesting to know which was the best statically.
Morning Alex. Bad luck for your boys last night! :big-lol: Made me a few quid betting in play!
Flingy-Top stuff. Glad Iv held out from buying cesc atm. I did say I think Mourinho will hold him back a bit. I was interested to hear he didnt shoot. CESC DIDNT SHOOT?!?! wtf! He still looked impressive tho. Im having a conservative strategy this season. Its proving to be shit gameplan. Only time will tell.
