The Pre-season Friendly Hub
Pre-season friendlies have begun. The time of year where you sit down to watch a game and then it is ruined in the second half by subs being made every two minutes of the second half. You forget who is playing where and generally drift away to write an article about it! This happened yesterday – Preston North End v Liverpool had 43 substitutions and so as my interest waned, I checked out all the Premier League teams and how their pre-season either shaped up or had begun. From a fantasy point of view, it is worth while keeping an eye on these matches regardless of how meaningless you think they are. They often throw up little nuggets of information which can help you settle your initial squad and prepare you for future transfers. Bear in mind though that it has been known for players to play all pre-season and then the search party is out for them on GW1! But it is better having pre-season information and basing your selection policy and your transfer strategies on them than going in completely blind. Here follows some information on what has already gone on. Our grand plan here is that you use this article to post as normal for now but then refer back to it as and when tou have any relevant pre-season info to add and post relevant comments to keep it updated over the next few weeks. So please take it upon yourself to add in the comments, any information from pre-season games, training or whatever… You might just be helping one fellow manager with a nugget of information but that’s what FF247 is all about.

Think i put this is the wrong section.
Here it is again please help
Hello All, I am still tinkering and would be grateful for any comments regarding my new and improved team , i think
Please Review
Guzan, Krul
Luis, Vermalean (if he joins Manu), Debuchy (Wisdom, Upson
Mata, Fabregas, Sanchez, Markovic, (Sassegnon)
Bony Dzeko Pelle
I’m not a huge fan of Mata as we have no idea wether he’ll do well under LVG.
I wouln’d recamend villa’s defence as it’s rubbish but if you need the cash Guzan is the best option, other than argubly Vlarr.
I think there’s way too much cash in the defence tbh.
Really, you want at least one big hitter upfront (like van Persie, Aguero, Sturridge or Costa).
I like Sanchez and Fabrigas alot – I tink they’l both do well this season for sure.
Debuchy is very good value for money and krul is good for 4.5mil.
Markovic is being overlooked at the moment alot so he could be a good differencial – he’ll almost definately be rotated tho…
wow quite a breakdown there! lol
Great breakdown and a very good review. thank you. Now back to the drawing board
Replied to your original post too Gunner, just in case you missed it.
lol sorry about that! :/
Elle if your about can you check your e-mail , cheers
Cheers Bench, thankyou mate.
GP,
Thanks for the article pal, very handy Is everyone well?
Hi Alex, yes they are 😉 You? Just sorting your Leicester article now mate so thank you in advance. We have Eddy’s Burnley analysis going up tomorrow so expect to see yours on Wednesday mate.
NZ
Thank you my friend. Looking forward to the Leicester read where you are going to tell us exactly who to select and take full responsibility for it
Yeah I’m fine thanks
Hope you are too.
Yo bros RMT Please!
Courtois / Myhill
Vlaar Debuchy Bruce / Long (Burnley)Steven Taylor
Fábregas Sánchez Albrighton Silva / Baker(Chelsea – that’s if he can land a loan somewhere)
van Persie Ings Sturridge
it’s so hard this season…
all replys apprecated!
Bob not sure Steven Taylor will start will he?
Not a bad squad with RvP in it though
Yo Bobby.
– I’d watch out for Bruce’s and Taylor’s game time, not sure how nailed on they are.
– Honeslty I have no clue about Burnley so not backing this up with anything (!) but is Long a starter? And is Ings the best value for money as a 6.0 forward? Most on here seem to be going for Austin, though I’d go with Weimann myself.
– Albrighton is usually in a team as a 5th mid, so to have him as a playing 4th means you should have the rest of your team pretty well covered I think. You have a lot of that cash tied up in the forwards though.. Maybe downgrade RVP to Rooney or Costa then upgrade Albrighton to someone like Shelvey and also upgrade a defender. Man Utd have strong fixtures at the start so would be good to cover that if possible.
yeah im hopeing my big hitters will make up for my lack of squad deph…
I’m a bit of a fan of ings but I won’t be scared to slash him if he underproforms. Ausitn is also a good option… I do like Weimann myself, but, as is seemingly every villa player, I think he’s not consistant enough…
I have hight hopes for vanPersie with vanGall at the helm – he’s a favorite of his!
I certainly think a man u defender would be good, but i just can’t find the cash!!
if they make some big defensive signings, I’ll definately have one in my team…
Not sure Bruce will start. Steven Taylor won’t either. He’s 3rd/4th choice at Newcastle.
Sturridge is obviously quality but they have a tough start. I’ve went with Costa initially as Chelsea have the favourable fixtures
Well i have Fabrigas as chelsea cover? If Costa’s on fire I’ll sell fabrigas and upgrade ings to Costa?
Bruce probably wont start and nither will Taylor – i just dont want to axe anyone!!
Here we go guys, first RMT of the year. i can see the comments about the Midfield coming already.
I’m going for the year of the clean sheets
DeGea, Krul
Shaw, Cameron, Clyne, Lescott, Debouchy
Sanchez, Barkely, Ince, Schneiderlin, Siggy (if he moves)
RVP, Costa, Long (in for the time being, but prob will change)
And a whopping 0.5 mil left in the bank.
Mutts, I debated RvP for ages and I think he’ll do great if he stays or gets fit. But I just see his price tag as a huge problem where the rest of the squad is concerned.
I know, but people were paying 14mil last year. i think he could hit the ground running this year with United’s fixtures and the Van Gaal effect.
Matts Hummels now slashed to 1/6 to join United.
Mutts wasn’t it RVP who wiped you out last season before you ever got started. #justsaying
Cheers Mito.
I persoanlly think RVP AND Costa make up for the mid – if you had a cheapy instad of costa you’d have hazard or some chelsea mid instead which is just as expensive if not more!!
@ Long, how about Ings? Top scorer in the championship, superspeedy, 6.0 and a target man?
Not sure about both shaw and deGea, oh and where the hell are your Chelsea defenders?!?!!!!
Debouchy is very good value for a very good defence.
like Clyne and lescott but both are 5 mil – are you prepared to have at least one defender worth 5 mil or more on your bench every match?? Seemsa little overkill to me…
Barkley is also being overlooked and will be a great differencial imo, even if he is a little overpriced. Who isnt tho this time? lol. He’s grown in cofidence since last season too!
Siggy will be good for the price…
I’d rarther have Albrighton than Schniderlin…
LOVE RVP and Costa – I think that’s a good move!!
so yeah
The lack of a Chelsea Defender does worry me.
They are certainly must have IMHO!!!
Mutley
– Double Utd defence when Chelsea have great opening fixtures too and Mourinho is a clean sheet master?
– Figuring Schneiderlin will fill the gap now Lallana’s gone? Could work well that. As you said, a 7.0, 6.0 and two 5.5s in midfield are generally very low, but that’s the price you pay for having Sanchez and RVP. If they both hit the ground running then you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
– Also in the same vein, I wouldn’t normally want as much as 5.5 on the bench at the start of the season, but I guess you will be rotating between 3 or 4 of your front 8 so that could actually be a great option.
Hi Mutley good GK same as mine not to bad Def might be better to go with Rooney to give yourself a better MF but that’s what most are doing depends who else Man U sign not a bad first draft not sorted mine fully yet
is there such thing as a good MF?
:big-lol:
Just make it up as you go alg with this kind of money it will be hard to get a good anything
yea well there’s that too…
I was refuring to how mf can mean something very rude tho! lol
Yes know what you mean but picking a team on my mind @ mo but should get priority right cheers
