Here at The Sportsman, we like to challenge our readers, and we are giving you the chance of winning £10,000 for FREE in our popular Perfect 10 game. All you have to do is guess ten results from our ten selected games, and if you get them all them right, then come 5pm on Saturday you could be TEN GRAND richer. It’s as simple as that, so follow this link, and give it a go.
Now, much will be made of Sunday’s mouthwatering football matches, with Manchester United facing Chelsea in the Premier League, and Arsenal playing Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, but we have steered clear of those matches, and picked out some real intriguing clashes between some lower teams in the top-flight, while a sextet of cracking Championship matches, with Fulham’s home match with Wolves the obvious highlight.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Swansea City
Carlos Carvalhal has been a revelation since joining Swansea City a couple of months ago, and he has dragged them out of the relegation zone, but they will face a tough match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, as Chris Hughton’s men look to put more daylight between them and the bottom three, and this game could be a tight affair, and a draw is the most likely outcome.
DRAW
Burnley v Southampton
Sean Dyche’s Burnley have slipped way behind the top-six in recent months, and they are a team desperate for a win, and they will fancy their chances on Saturday of downing a Southampton side that are currently sitting in the bottom three, and Mauricio Pellegrino’s reign at St Mary’s continues to come under scrutiny, and he may be under more pressure at the end of this clash, with Burnley just edging it by the odd goal.
HOME WIN
West Bromwich Albion v Huddersfield Town
West Bromwich Albion are adrift at the bottom of the table, and you have to feel if the Baggies don’t beat fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town at the weekend that Alan Pardew’s men could be doomed in their quest to remain in the Premier League, but they can record only their fourth league win of the season on Saturday, as David Wagner’s Town side are shipping goals for fun, and the Baggies can prevail narrowly.
HOME WIN
Burton Albion v Millwall
Millwall are one of the in-form Championship sides, and are unbeaten in ten matches, and they will fancy extending that fine run on Saturday as they take on a Burton Albion side that are currently in the relegation zone. Burton picked up a huge win against struggling Barnsley in midweek, but Millwall can bring them back down to Earth with a bump, and land an away win here.
AWAY WIN
Leeds United v Brentford
Both Leeds United and Brentford will still have aspirations of making a late ditch into the play-offs, but Leeds continue to struggle under new boss Paul Heckingbotham, and having conceded a late equaliser against Derby County on Wednesday they may struggle to hold out a Brentford side heading to Elland Road on the back of a brace of wins, and the Bees can edge this Championship clash.
AWAY WIN
Reading v Derby County
One win in five matches has seen Derby County’s automatic push hit a significant blip, but the Rams, fresh from a 2-2 draw with Leeds, can return to winning ways on Saturday by getting he better of a Reading side that lack any sort of consistency, and it’s County that can cruise to victory, and duly get their push for promotion back on track.
AWAY WIN
Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa
One point from their last two matches has seen Aston Villa fall four points behind Cardiff City, but Steve Bruce’s men can put the pressure back on the Bluebirds, who play on Sunday by getting the better of Sheffield Wednesday, who have struggled for any sort of form of late, and they could well be focused on their FA Cup replay with Swansea City in midweek.
AWAY WIN
Queens Park Rangers v Nottingham Forest
These two sides look destined for a finishing position in mid-table, as they look comfortably clear of the relegation zone, and are too far away from the play-offs, so this could be a fairly tight encounter with neither of the sides too desperate for the win, so a draw is the safest selection in this Loftus Road clash on Saturday afternoon.
DRAW
Watford v Everton
We return to the Premier League for our penultimate Perfect 10 match, and it sees Watford host Everton, and while Watford sit 11th in the table, they are only four points above the relegation zone, and Javi Gracia’s side are a team failing to string any positive results together of late, and they could be vulnerable to Sam Allardyce’s Toffees, who look to build on a confidence-boosting 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last time out.
AWAY WIN
Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Arguably the most intriguing match in our Perfect 10 is the Championship clash between runaway leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers and fifth-placed Fulham, who are in tremendous form of late, and will fancy getting the better of high-flying Wolves. Nine points clear at the top of the table, Wolves have been the best team by a mile this season, but they have drawn their last two matches, and with Fulham making a late surge for an automatic promotion spot, it could be the Cottagers that narrowly land victory in this exciting clash.
