Aston Villa 0-3 Man Utd
Man Utd were dealt a huge blow midweek with the news that Robin van Persie would be side-lined for about a month with a thigh injury. Aston Villa were without the influential Fabien Delph who was serving a one game suspension and the Villains were hoping to end their abysmal home run against Utd, their last league win against Utd was 18 years ago. Sadly for Villa after just 18 minutes of play they found themselves two nil down thanks to Danny Welbeck. The first came after Adnan Januzaj had hit the post and Welbeck was first on hand to slot home, the second came three minutes later following great work from Antonio Valencia down the right who produced a pinpoint cross into the path of Welbeck to convert. Man Utd keep up the pressure in the first half and both Welbeck and Wayne Rooney came close to increasing the lead. Villa on the other hand failed to test David de Gea. The second half was a feisty affair, de Gea and Gabriel Agbonlahor had a handbags moment shortly after the re-start which resulted in both being booked. Agbonlahor will therefore miss Villas next fixture away at Stoke. Utd kept up the pressure and were rewarded on 52 minutes when Tom Cleverley (yes that is correct!) finished off a Wayne Rooney assist to make it three nil. Mathew Lowton was the next name in the referee’s book when he caught Januzaj and shortly afterwards Utd supporters rose in unison to welcome the return of Darren Fletcher following serious illness. Rooney was unfortunate when he found himself clean through only for the referee to bring play back following more handbags by Welbeck and Nathan Baker. The remainder of the match just petered out with no more clear cut chances, Villas Ciaran Clark was booked and Christian Benteke was missing in action again and is clearly short of confidence. Man Utd will take some positives from this result, three crucial points, a comfortable win and signs that when they attack down the flanks the Red Devils can be a handful, Villa though will be very concerned with their poor run of form.
Bonus points: Welbeck (3) Cleverley (2) Jones & Valencia (1)
Norwich 1-1 Swansea
This intriguing encounter at Carrow Road saw Swansea without the industrious Chico Flores who was suspended and the home side were without their influential midfield pair of Robert Snodgrass and Anthony Pilkington due to injury. Fantasy managers were hoping this game would be as action-packed as the previous six meetings which have produced 25 goals and the signs at first were promising when Nathan Dyer put Swansea ahead on 12 minutes following a great passage of play from Ashley Williams. Michu should have doubled the lead but took a wild stab and saw his effort sail over the bar. The turning point in the first half came shortly after Dyer was stretchered off the field with a nasty ankle injury, when deep into stoppage time Johan Elmander found Gary Hooper and the former Celtic Forward unleashed a 25 yard volley that gave Michel Vorm no chance. The second half was a messy affair, Swansea were frustrated by The Canaries and picked up silly yellow cards, Angel Rangel, Michel Vorm and Jose Canas were all booked by the referee. Hooper was denied late on following great work by Leroy Fer and Michael Turner headed against the bar. Norwich will be disappointed not to have taken all three points, they were denied by the woodwork and outstanding goalkeeping by Vorm.
Bonus points: Hooper (3) Dyer & Williams (2)
Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool
Sundays stand out game was the visit of Liverpool to White Hart Lane who had their captain Steven Gerrard missing due to injury. Spurs had enjoyed a small run of form but have won only one of their last five home league matches. The first 45 minutes showed a side to Liverpool that has been lacking away from Anfield. They were relentless at times against Spurs, Phillipe Coutinho had a great chance after just 2 minutes following good work from Liverpool’s Stand in Captain Luis Suarez but the Brazilian scuffed his shot. Liverpools passing was played at a high tempo and was slick and they broke through the Spurs defence on 18 minutes when, following a period of extended pressure, Michael Dawson lost possession to Jordan Henderson and his pass found Suarez who obliged with a brilliantly well placed finish. Liverpool now had the bit between their teeth and Coutinho saw an effort hit the crossbar and Spurs were then forced into an early substitution when Sandro retired injured. To compound his departure more sustained pressure from Liverpool saw Henderson calmly volleying into the goal for Liverpool’s second after an effort by Suarez had been saved. Just before the break Simon Mignolet was fortunate when an effort by Roberto Soldado was disallowed following a shoulder barge. The second half performance by Liverpool showcased their potential, and the result was devastating to Spurs. Goals from Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling and Suarez were no more than Liverpool deserved and Spurs’ job was made all the harder when Paulinho was red carded in the 63rd minute for a foul on Suarez. The standout performance has to go to Suarez, 2 goals and three assists says it all, the home fans had long gone as the sound of You’ll Never Walk Alone reverberated around White Hart Lane. The result moves The Reds up to 2nd place, just 2 points off top spot. Sensational!
Bonus points: Suarez (3) Henderson (2) Flanagan (1)

If i do aguero to negrado, i’ll have 9.6m in the transfer kitty!
Jeez pho selecta. Can I borrow some?
Guys, need your thoughts on this transfers;
1. Aguero + Brady OUT > Negredo + Walcott IN
2. Aguero + Brady OUT > Rooney + 8.0M Mid (WHO??) IN
My team atm;
pants, kelvin
coleman, dawson, mert, chester, ward
ramsey, silva, hazard, morrison, Brady
lukaku, suarez, Aguero
Thanks
#1 for me. No real sure thing in that 8.0 price range for mids.
has to be A. Can see Silva and Walcott really kicking on points wise over the next few weeks. Rooney is too big a gamble at his price point imo and has little to no supply.
Option 2. Lallana or Mirallas as your 4th midfielder.
This could be brave or either stupid………
Current team….3-4-3
Mignolet (Boruc)
Coleman,Gabbidon.Fonte ( Rat,Williams)
Yaya Toure, Ramsey Hazard,Silva (Morrison)
Kun Suarez Lukaku
Could it possibly be time to shift formation and new team would be…3-5-2
Mignolet (Boruc)
Coleman,Gabbidon.Fonte ( Rat,Williams)
Yaya Toure, Ramsey Hazard,Silva,Walcott
Suarez Lukaku and ??????
any advice would be helpful. Thanks
Guys: I want Walcott in, but not sure if I should sell Oscar for a 4pt hit to do it this week, especially as Atsenal face Chelsea and I have Özil with no other Chelsea coverage…
…any advice? Just don’t want to miss the Walcott train
..or should i sell Özil? Or just wait? Arghhh too many possibilities
No t worth the hit…..
Perhaps not – but what if Oscar doesn’t start? I could suffer
I think maybe the time has come bite the bullit and Ozil for Walcott time….
Ummm sadly I agree – but would I be best waiting til next week?
We have scored 3 past City at Ethiad and Chelsea are not the same deffence they once was….I think Walcott will become fixture proof and is our best chance of scoring from now on…Giroud will still play his part now and then as will Ramsey.
So far I’m considering Aguero —–> Rooney, and then it’s a case of choosing one of:
a) Fonte —–> 6m defender (4pt hit)
b) Özil / Oscar —–> Walcott (4pt hit)
c) No hits and ride it out
What do you (or anyone) think? Pretty torn
Untouchy +1-Thats the move I was going to make. Aguero has scuppered this so im just holding off. I think Wally will destroy Chelsea! Put a monkey on it, Monthster!
Why not just go Ozil out and Walcott in??
Chop this is why in contemplating Aguero out 3-5-2 in….need my balls to grow a bit more for me to hit the button…lol
Unsure about the 352. Ive been playing 4 at the back most season-purely for the simple fact that def arent that far behind the mids and youre talking £3m+ cheaper. Will see where that gets me though. My plan Sept time was Ozil AND Walcott as I see Wally giving more passing options. NOW-Ive gone off Ozil as his score to price value isnt great. He looks lazy too (not sure if thats his style)
GK: Gazzaniga Davis
DF: Dawson Ben Turner Ridgewell Vlaar Chico
MF: Ramsey Lallana Hazard Ravel Fer
FW: Aguero Suarez Rooney
That’s my team. I have 1FT & 3.8m in the bank.. I don’t know whether to change Aguero or to upgrade a MID (which was my original plan). I’m mindful that if I go Ag —> Negredo I have 6.3mil burning a hole in my pocket, which is far too much.
Happy to take a hit this week or maybe even 2.
Can anyone help, please ?
This is my Dilemma too as mentioned in post above,,,
Demsie buddy. Why dont you do the obvious and either sign suarez twice like me(he is my cpt and vc) or go lukaku. Then you can massively upgrade yr mids. Negredo would be a good move also.
Afternoon peeps. Some observations over the wkend. Ramsey is on his way down! Thats right. Now wally is back Ramsey looks to be playing safe and not risking the shots/goals/trips forward. Why venture forward when you can rely on walcott.
2nd-Yaya same as above. When Silva plays, yaya is inhibited. He isnt as involved as he was before silva came back.
I will hear you talk about Ramseys assist or yayas goal. 1. Ramsey wasnt as involved as I hoped he might be. Lacksy daisy approach. Yayas penalty is what I call ‘Fake goals’. Penalties are not common. Lucky if you get a peno. Fake goals mask a players true score.
Just my thoughts
I hate fakes! In particular when they are pretending to be great fantasy assets all the time.
I know you took stick for your yaya comments but, Ive never had him. Dont rate him. He’ll decline loads now. My only regret is that i didnt get his value!
Ps. you getting stick isnt all bad :hippo:
You would know!! We had to replace all the sticks on our emticons. :ban: :stupid: :spammer: because they all showed signs of wear and tear from apparent personal usage. Only person that was seen at the back messing with the sticks was you. I least that is what Demsie said, he is our security officer. : hippo:
Ha ha. You cant live without :hippo: and literally….I dont know what were talking about anymore
@Choppy is this not where we always end up? This is what makes our chats so important, we all need to occupy some part of our day with utterly uninspiring events, so the rest of the day by comparison seems well spent.
Or something like that….wth are we talking about again?!
BTW I put hazard in the ‘fake’ box (even though I have/had him)
Chopper – do you like the look of Aguero —–> Rooney and Oscar —–> Wally?
It would be a for a 4pt hit – and Oscar out would leave me with no Chelsea coverage and 2 Arsenal mids… so, as Untouchables said, perhaps Özil —–> Wally instead?
Though that seems like a slightly sideways move considering it’s for a hit…
James how will Ozil to Wally cost you a hit?
Because I have 1 FT and have Agüero to sell too man
I was under the impression you had 2 free transfers, then sell Aguero and Bring in Negredo this week and sell Ozil for Wally next week with no hits SIMPLES………….
Untouchables – you reckon Negredo > Rooney, points wise?
Also, you think I’ll be okay without Walcott this gameweek?
I feel he could beast it out vs Chelsea..
I feel he Will beast it out at Chelsea but not enough to warrant a hit as it is just a feeling…
to answer your second question I would go Negredo as Wellbeck seems to take the limelight and let Rooney do all the hard work with supplying him with ( Assist Man )
I cant say Im happy with it-However, My move this week wouldve been Hazard-Walcott. My plan then would be Ramsey-Oscar. Purely Oscar at 8.8 gives better value than Hazard at 10 IMO.
Conclusion-GO FOR IT!. Ive had to do a -4 for Aggy-Rooney. The diff between you and I is I want Oscar in. Alot depends on this though. 1.his form 2 his midwk fixt. In your position Id be more than happy to have Ozil and Wally for the chelsea game. Ars coming out fighting after 6 goals and chelsea crumbling defence
You say “would’ve been”, have you not made this move? Just curious as to what other transfer you’ve made…
Well, perhaps I could ship Özil out instead then? Because I agree, if Oscar starts, I’d want him in my team at 8.8m, so it feels slightly wrong to sell him
But I will do the Rooney transfer now and wait on Wally/Oscar/Özil til later on this week. It’s hard to say really, Özil and Oscar are both class!
I say wouldve because without the aguero problem My would wouldve been Hazard-Walcott only. Now Im considering the -4. Im 90% sure I will do it. Im keeping an eye on the matches mw.
The problem for you is-will Oscar play Sat, and will he play well.
Your option of Ozil-He WILL play! Play well? Lazy-YES. Get points-Most likely. It sounds daft, but why dont you transfer Oscar -wally then look to get Oscar back in at some point. Holding Ozil gives you the option of monitoring Oscar
Ah I see, darn Sergio. Yes I like your I thinking, Chelsea have tough fixtures so an Arsenal double midfield could pay off. Özil is a sure starter and is getting the pints in right now, unlike Oscar (sadly) so maybe I will.
A 4pt hit to take out my value Chelsea mid – sounds mad doesn’t it! But, like you say, I can easily get him back in if he takes off again…
Sounds good. If Ozils getting the Pints in….tell him to get me one
Haha! Chopper, Özil’s got the Grolsch in by the gallon 😉
