Aston Villa 0-3 Man Utd
Man Utd were dealt a huge blow midweek with the news that Robin van Persie would be side-lined for about a month with a thigh injury. Aston Villa were without the influential Fabien Delph who was serving a one game suspension and the Villains were hoping to end their abysmal home run against Utd, their last league win against Utd was 18 years ago. Sadly for Villa after just 18 minutes of play they found themselves two nil down thanks to Danny Welbeck. The first came after Adnan Januzaj had hit the post and Welbeck was first on hand to slot home, the second came three minutes later following great work from Antonio Valencia down the right who produced a pinpoint cross into the path of Welbeck to convert. Man Utd keep up the pressure in the first half and both Welbeck and Wayne Rooney came close to increasing the lead. Villa on the other hand failed to test David de Gea. The second half was a feisty affair, de Gea and Gabriel Agbonlahor had a handbags moment shortly after the re-start which resulted in both being booked. Agbonlahor will therefore miss Villas next fixture away at Stoke. Utd kept up the pressure and were rewarded on 52 minutes when Tom Cleverley (yes that is correct!) finished off a Wayne Rooney assist to make it three nil. Mathew Lowton was the next name in the referee’s book when he caught Januzaj and shortly afterwards Utd supporters rose in unison to welcome the return of Darren Fletcher following serious illness. Rooney was unfortunate when he found himself clean through only for the referee to bring play back following more handbags by Welbeck and Nathan Baker. The remainder of the match just petered out with no more clear cut chances, Villas Ciaran Clark was booked and Christian Benteke was missing in action again and is clearly short of confidence. Man Utd will take some positives from this result, three crucial points, a comfortable win and signs that when they attack down the flanks the Red Devils can be a handful, Villa though will be very concerned with their poor run of form.
Bonus points: Welbeck (3) Cleverley (2) Jones & Valencia (1)
Norwich 1-1 Swansea
This intriguing encounter at Carrow Road saw Swansea without the industrious Chico Flores who was suspended and the home side were without their influential midfield pair of Robert Snodgrass and Anthony Pilkington due to injury. Fantasy managers were hoping this game would be as action-packed as the previous six meetings which have produced 25 goals and the signs at first were promising when Nathan Dyer put Swansea ahead on 12 minutes following a great passage of play from Ashley Williams. Michu should have doubled the lead but took a wild stab and saw his effort sail over the bar. The turning point in the first half came shortly after Dyer was stretchered off the field with a nasty ankle injury, when deep into stoppage time Johan Elmander found Gary Hooper and the former Celtic Forward unleashed a 25 yard volley that gave Michel Vorm no chance. The second half was a messy affair, Swansea were frustrated by The Canaries and picked up silly yellow cards, Angel Rangel, Michel Vorm and Jose Canas were all booked by the referee. Hooper was denied late on following great work by Leroy Fer and Michael Turner headed against the bar. Norwich will be disappointed not to have taken all three points, they were denied by the woodwork and outstanding goalkeeping by Vorm.
Bonus points: Hooper (3) Dyer & Williams (2)
Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool
Sundays stand out game was the visit of Liverpool to White Hart Lane who had their captain Steven Gerrard missing due to injury. Spurs had enjoyed a small run of form but have won only one of their last five home league matches. The first 45 minutes showed a side to Liverpool that has been lacking away from Anfield. They were relentless at times against Spurs, Phillipe Coutinho had a great chance after just 2 minutes following good work from Liverpool’s Stand in Captain Luis Suarez but the Brazilian scuffed his shot. Liverpools passing was played at a high tempo and was slick and they broke through the Spurs defence on 18 minutes when, following a period of extended pressure, Michael Dawson lost possession to Jordan Henderson and his pass found Suarez who obliged with a brilliantly well placed finish. Liverpool now had the bit between their teeth and Coutinho saw an effort hit the crossbar and Spurs were then forced into an early substitution when Sandro retired injured. To compound his departure more sustained pressure from Liverpool saw Henderson calmly volleying into the goal for Liverpool’s second after an effort by Suarez had been saved. Just before the break Simon Mignolet was fortunate when an effort by Roberto Soldado was disallowed following a shoulder barge. The second half performance by Liverpool showcased their potential, and the result was devastating to Spurs. Goals from Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling and Suarez were no more than Liverpool deserved and Spurs’ job was made all the harder when Paulinho was red carded in the 63rd minute for a foul on Suarez. The standout performance has to go to Suarez, 2 goals and three assists says it all, the home fans had long gone as the sound of You’ll Never Walk Alone reverberated around White Hart Lane. The result moves The Reds up to 2nd place, just 2 points off top spot. Sensational!
Bonus points: Suarez (3) Henderson (2) Flanagan (1)

Don’t really understand this price protection lark
Is aguero protected or not now he has a red flag?
Cancel that. Found an article elsewhere
Hammers, I would like to know the definitive answer about price protection too, from what I have read no player is completely price protected but when they are ‘protected’ this is only after the flag has been removed and it lasts 8 days? Don’t quite see how that works. Still don’t know why Kun did not go down last night tbh? Anyone actually know the exact way it works?
herewegoagain – you are spot on with your understanding of it. He can drop now until the flag is removed at which point the 8 day countdown starts. I believe FPL Statistics has a countdown on it on the site which tells you when the 8 days are over.
Thanks for confirming inittowinit, any ideas why 8 days, I wonder whether this is halved when 2 GWs in one week? I assume this only refers to red flags? Also is it right players can still go down/up when protected but need double the amount of transfer activity?
Gasco is correct below mate which just confuses the issue further. It’s all flags as far as I know unless they’ve changed that as well and when they are protected they cannot move regardless. FISO have a section that explains it all.
not sure, but from what i can make out, this year they are reseting the tf’s in/out every time they change the flagged status ie when a platyer changes from green to orange or orange to red then their transfers are set back to zero. noticed this a few times with RVP this season on a few ocasions he should have fallen but his status had changed and he stayed the same price
Yeah that would make sense actually, as I kept seeing RVP not dropping when I thought he would. Obviously works well for people who were waiting for the news but basically punishes the people who took the risk to transfer early to avoid the price drop, also means more people can transfer him out for only one price drop which again is not ideal
hammers&herewegoagain – I’m going to try and clear this up,a lot seem to be confused by it,it is a bit weird in fairness,okay..when a player gets injured/suspended they are yellow/red flagged, until their yellow/red flag is removed then their NTI is slowed down,i don’t know the exact figures but lets say it takes roughly 100k transfers for a price rise/fall okay..when a player is flagged it will increase to 120k or whatever it increases to because the player will be seeing a lot more activity because they are injured/suspended,now..when the flag is removed the player’s NTI is reset to 0 and they are frozen from price rise/fall for 8 days,it’s all just to stop crazy shit happening in the transfer market, hope this helps, and again..my figures probably aren’t correct but you get the idea yeah?? If i’ve made a mistake anywhere here can someone point it out please..
Haha, cheers NIN I think I understand, not exactly the most simple mechanism. Basically the long and short of it is to just keep an eye on TotalFPL price changes!!
herewegoagain – Yeah it’s a weird system but it’s good too,it took me a while to get my head around it too haha, and yes, just keep an eye on it and you should be fine,it’s very accurate, only 1 mistake so far this season that i know of which is great.
Evening all!!
Probably heard it a few times today but who is the better choice out of lukaku or negredo to replace aguero
Hi Mitro, between the two I would say Negredo, most people are between Rooney and Negredo I would say. Guessing you have Rooney and Luis already?
Yep got Rooney and goofy!!
Do you think negredo is risk for rotation??
I’m sure people will tell you he is and of course there is a chance, but I think City need to keep the pressure on and Negredo is their second best striking option after Kun, if anything once the game is won we may see him coming off after 70 odd minutes more often.
Good good and to be honest he’s been looking good these past few weeks.
Another one. Would you take out coutinho and replace him with silvia or Walcott got hazard Ozil Ramsey and ban an at the minute
Hi Mitro, Coutinho is a real headache especially as a Liverpool fan, I think he is a great player but for FF this season he just isn’t doing the business. Annoyingly I tipped Henderson to step up with week but got laughed down by my mates and decided against the transfer, tbh though he most likely would have been on my bench as I thought Oscar would have played the whole 90. If you have another FT I would go Silva, if I didn’t have Yaya he would definitely be in my team, no point in doubling up on Arsenal coverage, Walcott has great point potential but got to stick with Ramsey – assuming you got him early and made a heap of cash on him?
Should I do the aguero to Rooney move now because if aguero drops price I’ll be getting less money out of it I can pick up 1 mill now if I make the move or do it on Friday
I wouldn’t wait till Friday to get him out, I suspect he will fall by .3 this week. if you have made your mind up with Rooney I would do it this eve mate. Depends how much you rate team value vs a potential point hit if someone was to get injured in the cup games, also depends on your subs and if they are playing.

“Good-Game, “Good-Game”
As Brucie would say.. :cuckoo:
Bigpots…
Well done indeed.
You beat me very easily.
Hope you push on now
Potty
Somebody tell me Fonte will be restored back to the startling line up this weekend before I offload him for -4 ???
Evening fellas….
Just logged on, so just catching up..
Yesterday I took a -8 point hit,,,,thought id treat myself to some much needed transfers..?
I guessed Aguero would be out for a while, so he had to go… Reluctantly..!
My gamble to have 3 Everton players in defence last week backfired, with Fulham getting a suspect penalty, oh well..!
So 1 had to go to make room for Lukaku..
Walcott has been on my radar, & with his impressive display against City,, it was time to pounce..!
So here it is…
Aguero > Lukaku (was thinking Negrado but wanted Wally more)
Ward-Prowse > Wally
Distin > Chester
Final team, waddya think..
Howard.
Ivanovic / Coleman / Chester .
Walcott / Yaya / Hazard / Ramsey.
Suarez / Lukaku / Rooney.
Subs.Gk Davis / B.Turner / Shelvey / Moxey.
Should do well mate, hope the hits work for you, would still be a bit hesitate over having double Everton deference coverage away.
Herewegoagain..
Yea I know but Everton got good fixtures & the most CS … We’ll see..!
Ta, for feedback tho..
Yeah I see your point I just don’t bank on any cleansheets as cant seem to pick them. I always assume 2 pts per player from my defence and anything more is a bonus. Crazy to think there were so many cleansheets in the early part of the season with bonus points flying round the defences, now not so much, don’t see many teams with 4 at the back anymore.
Herewegoagain…
True..
I’ve had Coleman from the start.. He,s a keeper for me….
Howard,, well he’s currently the top goalie so, he must be doing something right..!
I’ve tried different defenders & goalies but your right, .. You can’t predict anyone keeping a cleanie.. I mean Chelsea v Palace… You’d a thought guaranteed CS right….?
wrong..!!!
I know exactly, I really have given up on predicting clean sheets and therefore my defence to some extent! I know I should really get rid of Migs but then again he kept a cleansheet against Spurs away so whose to say Pool cant go on a run of cleansheets and then i’ll be annoyed I wasted my transfer on a keeper! Think I’ll just wait till the Jan WC to make that sort of transfer. Anyway your logic with Everton is correct and have a good a chance than any to keep a cleansheet and if they do you’re laughing.
Good side. I was gonna criticise that move then but I seen your team linked and thought actually you look like you know what your doing, nice overall for all the hits you have taken there . Can u have a look at my team linked mate. Ive just switched Aguero to Roo for my FT but im now considering Fonte to Chester and Lampard to Silva for a -8. What are your thoughts ??? Maybe just a -4 ???
Ripsaw…
I would be careful….you got a good team there,..
however you could do with some city cover ,,
I only make -4 / -8 hits if I can justify it to myself, I’m not too concerned what people might think, as long as I’m confident I can recoup those hits with the quality I bring in…it’s ok for me…!
long term they generally pay off…it’s a game after all & sometimes taking hits is part of it.. Plus if you get them in early enough & beat the bandwagons, you tend to benefit from their price rises…most of the time..
Back to your team…I’m not goona say do it …. because that’s up to you to decide..?.
But sometimes doing something is better than doing nothing..!
Thanks for your feed back..!
Nice advice mate cheers. Will decide after the midweeks. Good luck with your moves hope they pay off for you
Bigpopz – I like the transfers, probably wouldn’t have taken an 8 hit for them though but it’s done now, expect to drop in the rankings this week because of the 8,looking ahead though they should be profitable moves.
NIN….
How you doin
Cheers for your feedback earlier….!
What your plans for Aguero….& surly your not sticking with Terry R U ..?
Bigpopz – Howdy mate i’m good thanks for asking, you??
Aguero is gone already haha,i needed cash for my midfield so done Aguero&Brady >> Hooper&Walcott,Hooper is a short term move until the JWC is available at which point i’ll decide what direction to take.As for Terry….sigh, very frustrating to say the least, this weekend will be the first week i leave him out, will play him against Swansea and then that’s it,no chance i’m playing him vs Liverpool and then he’s out the door during JWC (which i plan to play straight away).
