Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team

fantasy football team tips hintsWhat do Heart of Midlothian, AFC Wimbledon and Galatasaray have in common?
They are all football clubs owned and operated by their supporters.
So?
So, I thought that seeing as this works brilliantly within (some) football clubs, then I wondered if this could be transferred to the fantasy world. A hugely talented fantasy player friend of mine first mooted this idea this close season and it got me to thinking, what if we did have our FF247 community represented as a single entity this coming season? I wondered if it could work. I wondered how it would work. I wondered if people would like the idea or how popular it could grow to be. I wondered if the FF247 Community Team could be the first supporter-owned team to win the World Title.
As far as I am aware, there is no other fantasy site with a community team. So are you with me?
Alright, first of all, the selection of everything to do with our team will be “one member, one vote”.
Basically if you go as far as to log in and leave a message to a supporter vote question, then you are a member.
So here is how it will work.

Initial selection
We will firstly vote to decide on our preferred playing formation.
The second vote will be to ask how you think the money in our team should be shared across all four playing positions.
Thirdly and most excitingly of all, the next vote will determine our first player.
I think it is fairest and most sensible to select players alternatively by position in turn beginning with strikers and working back through the team so we would vote thus:
Striker /Midfielder /Defender /Goalkeeper then returning to Striker to continue.
Ahead of each vote I would gauge the popularity of particular players through your discussions and early RMT enquiries and present to you a selection for you to vote for. The aim is to make the list as concise as possible but fear not there will be plenty of choice.

Weekly selection
I will ask you to vote for one goalkeeper and one outfield player you WOULD PLACE ON THE SUBSTITUTES BENCH. This vote will indicate who the least popular players are for the week and determine the most popular sub – i.e. he who most of you think WON’T have a good gameweek, goes to the last place on the bench, next most popular goes second and third takes first outfield spot on the bench. Goalkeeper with most ‘sub’ votes takes the sub GK spot.

[divider_1px]

Transfers
Each week there will be two transfer votes.
The first will ask “Who do you think should be sold from the FF247 Community Team?”
The second will ask: “Who do you think the FF247 Community Team should buy valued at £ ‘X’ ?
Multiple transfers (Points Hits), Wildcards and Chips
This is where it can be a bit hairy for us but not insurmountable – the theory will be that if at least five members request using any of the above, it will be put to a vote.

[divider_1px]

Captaincy
We will use the existing captaincy poll on site and select the most popular player for that week who is in the FF247 Community Team. The second most popular within the team will be vice-captain.

Summary
We will no doubt encounter little problems as we move along but where possible, I will always seek the advice of you, our members as to how they would suggest the problem dealt with.
I will be happy to address any issues or answer any questions you might have – leave them on our Community Team page which will be with us soon. If I don’t answer right away, please check back, I will answer.
I hope you will become involved with each vote as it appears. There may seem like there are a lot of votes but it will literally take you five seconds to take part as most of your replies will be one word.
This is intended to create additional interest away from our own teams, to not take itself too seriously or be bogged down with ‘what-ifs’. We should be democratic but not boring.
It is meant as a way for our fantastic community to bond further and with a bit of luck, to draw new visitors and encourage them to take part with us.
We may even be lucky and form a bit of a local FF247 fantasy rivalry as we progress…..
This is for you guys and your support is appreciated.

A word from FF247…

Team Management!
The Gallant Pioneer is your team manager for this one and he will be ably assisted by his two beautiful assistants in the form of NZAlex and Ellefcee. Please support them in this venture, it’s a brave new frontier but something that could work brilliantly given the community we have here.

Just one point though – the second you all start beating the site team it’ll be pulled quicker than a Jack Wilshire muscle 😉

    **FF247 COMMUNITY TEAM – WILDCARD & GW5 TEAM**

    A reminder . . . .

    Hi everyone

The management of the FF247 Community Team have been furiously and painstakingly piecing together our final wildcard squad based upon your votes, your comments and suggestions and those who responded via twitter and we are pleased to now reveal our squad post-WC which will be given it’s debut tomorrow when Game-week 5 begins.

Let us talk you through it but first, the squad:

    BEGOVIC / McCARTHY
    NAUGHTON / MORGAN / KOLAROV / MARTIN / GOMEZ
    MAHREZ / SANCHEZ / PEDRO / STERLING / WESTWOOD
    GOMIS / AGUERO / WILSON

This time yesterday who could have seen Begovic being in this squad? But this is why waiting until the manager’s speak on Thursdays and Fridays at their press conferences is vital. We now have a nice cheap route in to the Chelsea defence (hardly at a worse time grated, but nonetheless it’s Chelsea) and will have Alex McCarthy as back-up or an alternative option dependent on him holding on to the gloves for Palace. McCarthy was already with us pre-wildcard so not a risky transfer ‘in’.

Kolarov (no explanation needed) and Gomez stay with us and we welcome new recruits Kyle Naughton (Swansea), Russell Martin (Norwich) and Wes Morgan (Leicester). All three have their own merits – Swansea are playing some excellent attacking football and full-back Naughton is a huge part of that. Martin although he plays for Norwich has scored twice already this season and has goal-scoring previous at this level and at £4.5 is well worth having with us and Wes Morgan – he who needs no summer break – comes in to our squad as Leicester embark upon a period of some very fair fixtures.

We should say here that Naughton is in our squad at the expense of Joel Ward of Crystal Palace who is now injured and due to miss 4 to 5 weeks.

In midfield we sensibly have retained our man of the season, Riyad Mahrez and brought in players who are just a wee bit good to support him – Pedro (Chelsea), Sterling (Manchester City – incidentally Silva until this afternoon) and Sanchez (Arsenal) create a top class midfield ably supported by Ashley Westwood of Aston Villa if required.

The strikeforce definitely has a template feel to it but that doesn’t worry this management and we are happy to retain Sergio Aguero and supplement him with Callum Wilson of Bournemouth and The Bounding Panther that is Bafetimbi Gomis from Swansea City. Each of our new strikers have four in four so it’s no surprise you have selected both men.

So there you have it, your newly-shaped FF247 Community Squad.

Due to constraints on settling the squad and a management pow-wow earlier this evening, we have had no time to run a captain poll so we will, for this week only, revert to the site poll which has Sergio Aguero out in front so he gets our armband. Should he be missing for any reason, Alexis Sanchez takes up the duties.

On behalf of us all, thank you for your input this week – the management have had to use a little artistic licence to bring the squad together but have left it to your votes wherever we could.

Visual representation of the team will follow below.

Enjoy this team, your team and having FPL back!

    Good morning everyone

    ***FF247 COMMUNITY TEAM UPDATE***

GW5 was our first post-wildcard and the headline is we finished 2 points BELOW average.

The team is shown below bit basically a combination of poor showings defensively from Chelsea (no surprise), Swansea and Leicester and a captain-bomb from Sergio Aguero has left us falling nearly 160,000 places to 808,597 overall.

We will begin transfer voting soon but meantime, here is the team:

    **FF247 COMMUNITY TEAM TRANSFER VOTE**

Well we do not have the luxury (for luxury, the FF247 management say ‘read “torture”’ ) of a wildcard this week and we only have the regular transfer a player or save the transfer.

Now we know we have a lot of European football to play this midweek but logistically the community team voting must proceed as normal and therefore we open the voting tonight on how you think we should use our free transfer ahead of Game-week 6.
Now you may vote tonight but the vote will close at about 10pm (after tomorrow night’s Champions League matches) and it is then we will announce the result and open the team selection vote.

Note: As the Champions League and Europa League are now under way for the season, the FF247 Community Team management would remind you that if there are any late injury problems AFTER a vote has taken place we will endeavour to ask you for your suggestions on changes and make an executive decision between us in the interests of our team.

    So for tonight:

The FF247 Community Team would like to know how we should use this week’s Free Transfer:

    SELL BEGOVIC
    SELL McCARTHY
    SELL NAUGHTON
    SELL MORGAN
    SELL KOLAROV
    SELL MARTIN
    SELL GOMEZ
    SELL MAHREZ
    SELL SANCHEZ
    SELL PEDRO
    SELL STERLING
    SELL WESTWOOD
    SELL GOMIS
    SELL AGUERO
    SELL WILSON

    SAVE TRANSFER

Thank you all for your attention and let’s have your votes.
