Trends From The Top Game-week 12
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. For this week’s publication, I join your from the lovely city of Sofia, Bulgaria where games air 7 hours later than my standard NYC match times! (Well it’s actually the same time although I am in a different time zone). It was certainly an interesting weekend as Chelsea took on its 7th loss of the season and chatter continues to focus on topics such as potential relegation, firings and signings. It is important to see how this has effected or impacted the league leaders if at all and to see what insights and trends these fantasy football gurus have in regards to such happenings. Let’s dive in a bit to take a closer look at our top 10.
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Game-week 12?
This week, 40% of the top ten managers selected Vardy as captain (18 points), 30% Bony (2 points), 20% Ozil (16 points) and 10% Sanchez (10%). What is interesting here is the fact that 3 of the top 10 selected Bony, yet he is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Game-week 12?
Goalkeepers:
For this past gameweek 40% of the top managers selected Hart while 30% had Cech, 20% had Butland and 10% played de Gea.
Defenders:
This week we saw 16 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (50%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of 50% or higher. Smalling came in at 40% while Kompany, Clyne and Koscielny were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Moreno, van Dijk, Stones, Creswell, Azpilicueta, Dawson, Dann, Sagna, Zouma, Bertrand, and Monreal each with 10%.
Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 13 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Tadic, Mata and Couthino. Mahrez was the most popular pick with 100% ownership followed by Ozil at 60%, Sanchez at 50%, Payet at 40%, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne and Ayew each with 30%, and finally Mane, Wijnaldum and Barkley each with 20%.
Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers which again seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified and/or ever evolving or changing as needed. Vardy came in with 90% while Lukaku was the next popular pick as he received 60%. Martial was selected by 40% of the top managers with Bony and Pelle receiving 30%, Kane and Ighalo receiving 20% and Gomis coming in at 10%.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for game-week 12 were not many. They were Kolarov, Mahrez, Vardy, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ozil as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payer ruled out for 3 months with a knee injury !
*Payet.Bloody auto correct !
Christ Brookyboy that’s bad news & I feel an early TF coming on any news on Bony cheers mate.
Out for at least 2 weeks with a hamstring injury but is still joining up with the Ivory coast for International duty is the best I can find according to twitter Silvers.Actually the Payet injury might be a good thing for me to raise some cash.
Raise cash?
If Payet is out for long term, I think Payet > Ozil will be a popular transfer.
Brookyboy problem I have is Kun will be back before Bony is fit not sure what I will do taken so many hits this yr.
Wow that’s good news for my team (obviously never happy for a player to get injured though), will free up funds and help me get Aguero get in
With Payet’s injury, I think for most of the teams the decision will be down to:
A. Ozil
B. Aguero
If I get Ozil, there is no way i can fit in Aguero without downgrading all my defenders. But if Aguero needs to be brought in after the Liverpool game, Payet > Bolasie and Pelle > Aguero would be the easiest move.
So, Ozil or Aguero?
Thoughts?
I will be getting both, Ozil – Sanchez – KDB – Mahrez – Cheap 5th mid and Aguero – Vardy – Ighalo
I’m not sure yet, doesn’t feel right with both Özil and Sanchez. Might do Payet to a cheap fifth mid and upgrade another mid later.
Aguero, by a mile. Still, it will likely be a few weeks before he’s up and running. GW 16 or thereabouts could be a good time to make the move.
So would you suggest getting Ozil temporarily then? The fixtures are kind of awesome.
Yeah it’s an idea. Form and fixtures are pretty damn good.
A fit and firing Aguero all day long ! Would like Ozil but the only way I could squeeze him in would be to swap Sanchez for him.
Payet>Coutinho.. If u want Ozil in, then Sanchez>Ozil.. Then u can do Pelle>Aguero..
I’m going with both!
Alexis and Kane/pelle out
Ozil and Kun in
Thanks Beka, great info as always
Good Day,
Payet to Deulofeu????
others Mid : Ozil / Mahrez / Mane / KdB
Could be a great movie. Hes such a talented kid and really creatinh chances at Everton.
Bloody phone. Great move.
Tks
Depends on your forwards too, who would you bench?
my forward : Lukaku / Pelle / Vardy
Your going to have benching problems…….
I bought Wijnaldum for 5th cheap mid and had to bench Ighalo as my other forwards were Vardy and Costa and it costed me arnd 20 points, best is to have a cheap 5th mid, believe me I have been through that headache not worth it
That’s a move I’m considering. If he can stay fit he’s a great prospect.Would mean I didn’t have to decimate my defence to get back Aguero too.
Since you have 4 decent mids, just downgrade enough so that you can afford Aguero.
Tks
