Trends From The Top Game-week 12

Screenshot_149Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. For this week’s publication, I join your from the lovely city of Sofia, Bulgaria where games air 7 hours later than my standard NYC match times! (Well it’s actually the same time although I am in a different time zone). It was certainly an interesting weekend as Chelsea took on its 7th loss of the season and chatter continues to focus on topics such as potential relegation, firings and signings. It is important to see how this has effected or impacted the league leaders if at all and to see what insights and trends these fantasy football gurus have in regards to such happenings. Let’s dive in a bit to take a closer look at our top 10.

Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Game-week 12?
This week, 40% of the top ten managers selected Vardy as captain (18 points), 30% Bony (2 points), 20% Ozil (16 points) and 10% Sanchez (10%). What is interesting here is the fact that 3 of the top 10 selected Bony, yet he is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Game-week 12?
Goalkeepers:
For this past gameweek 40% of the top managers selected Hart while 30% had Cech, 20% had Butland and 10% played de Gea.

Defenders:
This week we saw 16 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (50%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of 50% or higher. Smalling came in at 40% while Kompany, Clyne and Koscielny were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Moreno, van Dijk, Stones, Creswell, Azpilicueta, Dawson, Dann, Sagna, Zouma, Bertrand, and Monreal each with 10%.

Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 13 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Tadic, Mata and Couthino. Mahrez was the most popular pick with 100% ownership followed by Ozil at 60%, Sanchez at 50%, Payet at 40%, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne and Ayew each with 30%, and finally Mane, Wijnaldum and Barkley each with 20%.

Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers which again seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified and/or ever evolving or changing as needed. Vardy came in with 90% while Lukaku was the next popular pick as he received 60%. Martial was selected by 40% of the top managers with Bony and Pelle receiving 30%, Kane and Ighalo receiving 20% and Gomis coming in at 10%.

In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for game-week 12 were not many. They were Kolarov, Mahrez, Vardy, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ozil as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

What are some other interesting findings regarding our top leaders?
– 4 of the top players are new to the top 10.

– Our leader received only 40 points for GW 12 (5 points below the average) and has deployed ALL chips including his wildcard.

– Our leader started this season in 55,554th place and has held the top spot for the past 3 game-weeks.

– Our current leader finished 706,351 for the 2014/2015 season.

– Struthious D, currently in second place, has held one of the top 2 positions for the past 5 game-weeks and has a better opportunity to maintain such lead when compared to our #1 leader as he has only utilized his bench boost chip.

– Our 2nd top leader has played fantasy football for the past 9 seasons and his best finish was 74,308.

– Our 2nd top leader achieved only 36 game points for game-week 12 which was 9 points below the average of 45.

Other interesting facts:
– The average score for game-week 12 among the top 10 was 57.7 points which is a meager 12.7 points above average for the week.

– England maintains the lead for having the most players in the top 10 but barely. This week 30% of our leaders were from England followed by Australia at 20%, Ireland at 20%, and Scotland, South Africa and Canada each coming in with 10%.

– The average team value was £104m with £107.5m being the highest team value and £103.1m being the lowest value.

Best of luck in Gameweek 13!

Hey guys any suggestions would be really helpful for my team

    Myhill Hennessey

    Kolarov Moreal Darmian Davies Targett

    Sanchez KDB Mane Mahrez Payet

    Bony Pelle Vardy

1FT with 0.8M itb, any suggestions? I guess the first would be to get rid of Payet? but for who? Also what to do about Bony?

I’ve done Payet -> Deulofeu just now.
1ft left. Wanting to do Gomes -> DDG but thinking that one has a chance of ending 0-0. May wait until next GW on that one. Any other transfers that stand out as good options? 2.1 itb

      Pelle >> Lukaku for me.

Everton have a great run of games right through till christmas now, and Lukaku is looking on great form.

Personally I would consider using it on your defence.

Zabs is due to be back so Sagna is a rotation risk, bellerin is still injured, Oxford doesn’t play which leaves you short as well as having to play Evans v Arsenal

Ant and Hammers, thanks for the input.
I’m surprised I’ve seen people considering getting rid of Pelle right before a home game :/
Hammers, I agree on the need for defensive changes. Bellerin already moved from red to dark orange though, so I’ve a feeling he may play next GW. I would have done him to Kosc before last GW if Kosc had been nailed. Wish I woulda done it as I only ended up with 2 playing defenders. I’m also considering Cedric to VanDijk. I could afford both of those but not also DDG :/

Any early ideas on what to do here?

Can’t see any easy ways to get KUN, so i’m toying with grabbing Lukaku for Pelle with the plan of not grabbing KUN until early next year, feel he might take a little while getting back into it.

Payet-? + Pelle-Lukaku for a -4 or not worth it?

      Ant0800 says:

It would be a little tricky to get Kun in this team as it stands. But doing it with 2 FT’s for me would be De Bruyne >> Delafeou and Pelle >>> Aguero.

      • inwhiterooms says:

Was actually thinking of missing KUN for now and going down this path. Sounds like KUN is 50/50 at best for next GW anyway. I like Alli for 4.9 and really want Lukaku up front, think he’s capable of matching KUN over the next 4-6 weeks.

Worthy of a -4 hit? Would need to pull the trigger now as it maxes my bank.. Another Payet drop and i’m back to the drawing board.

Nothing stopping you mate but there is an awful long time to go before we reconvene for FPL. Loads of players have internationals, travelling and training so you could be sprung by further problems and there is also the possibility of having to do without Jamie Vardy (possible suspension incoming).

Risky move for me but it’s your call.

    Morning everyone.

Thank you Beka for another great round-up of the world’s best. I love this little round-up each week. The Smalling and Ozil ownership numbers have caught my eye.
