Trends From The Top Game-week 12
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. For this week’s publication, I join your from the lovely city of Sofia, Bulgaria where games air 7 hours later than my standard NYC match times! (Well it’s actually the same time although I am in a different time zone). It was certainly an interesting weekend as Chelsea took on its 7th loss of the season and chatter continues to focus on topics such as potential relegation, firings and signings. It is important to see how this has effected or impacted the league leaders if at all and to see what insights and trends these fantasy football gurus have in regards to such happenings. Let’s dive in a bit to take a closer look at our top 10.
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Game-week 12?
This week, 40% of the top ten managers selected Vardy as captain (18 points), 30% Bony (2 points), 20% Ozil (16 points) and 10% Sanchez (10%). What is interesting here is the fact that 3 of the top 10 selected Bony, yet he is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Game-week 12?
Goalkeepers:
For this past gameweek 40% of the top managers selected Hart while 30% had Cech, 20% had Butland and 10% played de Gea.
Defenders:
This week we saw 16 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (50%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of 50% or higher. Smalling came in at 40% while Kompany, Clyne and Koscielny were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Moreno, van Dijk, Stones, Creswell, Azpilicueta, Dawson, Dann, Sagna, Zouma, Bertrand, and Monreal each with 10%.
Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 13 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Tadic, Mata and Couthino. Mahrez was the most popular pick with 100% ownership followed by Ozil at 60%, Sanchez at 50%, Payet at 40%, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne and Ayew each with 30%, and finally Mane, Wijnaldum and Barkley each with 20%.
Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers which again seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified and/or ever evolving or changing as needed. Vardy came in with 90% while Lukaku was the next popular pick as he received 60%. Martial was selected by 40% of the top managers with Bony and Pelle receiving 30%, Kane and Ighalo receiving 20% and Gomis coming in at 10%.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for game-week 12 were not many. They were Kolarov, Mahrez, Vardy, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ozil as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

i can’t believe it.. finally i thought i can dedicate this gw to sort out my defense.. and bumm now payet is off, vardy will likely be off and the international matches haven’t even started..
would be great to switch vardy to kun but i’m not a rockefeller..
it’s a challenging year in fpl
Just got a buzz on my phone. So are you needing a rock, fella?
you got my point
Come on Aguero
“I don’t think I’m too far away now,” said Aguero. “Physically, I feel good and I’ve kept as fit as I can during my lay-off.
“I still need to work hard for another week and if not this week, then maybe next, I hope to start training with the rest of the lads and so and my target is Liverpool.
“I’ll take things slowly and not rush into anything, but I’m not far away.”
Whats all this Vardy might be out rumours?.
he stuck his fingers up at the lino Ant
there is a pic on the twitter page i think or just do a search for Vardy ban
Personally, dont think Vardy will get the ban. Englishman is on his way to make a record.
Anyone know when Payet’s price will go down?
Looks like tonight. He was on -96.6% when I looked about 3 hours ago.
Tonight photek..-110%, reducing with an escape velocity of 3.50% per hour..
Cheers guys, i best get him out today.
Was thinking to get Alli at Spurs for my 5th mid and free up some funds for the return of the Kun, sound alright?
yep, i’m on a same tactic but i’ll pick lingard
photek..lanzini is one of the options, if u could afford.i like drinkwater as a fifth MF too as he is a sure starter and can provide you with an assist or so…kun looks fine to be in
thanks Constantine but i’ve already got Mahrez and Vardy so i’ll leave Drinkwater.
I looked at Lanzini, Deulofeu is another option but i’m gonna need more money for Kun.
Guys, what are your views on Payet to Willian?Chelsea have some decent fixtures coming up. Cant afford Hazard(or dont want to).cheers all
I’m still not convinced by Chelsea at all but if i was to plump for one of them it would be Willian, he’s been Chelsea’s best player this season so far and is a danger on set pieces.
not the craziest idea, however i see too much gamble on that move
Chelsea’s fixtures are too good to be ignored at this time I think, and I am definitely considering one of Hazard/Willian in place of Payet.
But for me the thing is that if i get any of those two, I wont be able to get Aguero after the game against Liverpool. And I have a strong feeling that Hazard will start coming good.
Dont like Willian a lot, from what I have seen in the last two games of Chelsea, he does not get a lot of goal scoring opportunities directly, but he does have corners and free kicks, so kind of a “True” Payet replacement.
Thanks B..I have the same feeling as you..So, its done now..Jose is keeping Hazard on bench a lot lately..but, willian looks like a clear starter and the one on free kick/set pieces. rest time will tell.
Thats a big move mate. Huge differential.
thanks guys…call me crazy, but done the transfer.. cant afford to lose 0.2m or may be more on the deal as payet is destined to lose and willian to increase in price tonight. also, i sense a comeback for chelsea post intnl break.
Hey folks. Anyone seen this? Rooney preparing for life after United (which, judging by the way he’s been playing, will come sooner rather than later):
http://www.101greatgoals.com/top-stories/watch-official-footage-of-wayne-rooneys-participation-in-wwe-monday-night-raw-video/
Yeah i saw that earlier, was not amused.
Haha. What do you mean you weren’t amused?! Shiz is hilarious. Wazza ‘The White Ali’ is the right man for pro wrestling. Didn’t he get knocked out by a friend of his in his own home while they were sparring in the kitchen?
yeah i saw that in my lunch break Sanchez he’s got the bulk to get in the ring :]
