Trends From The Top Game-week 12
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. For this week’s publication, I join your from the lovely city of Sofia, Bulgaria where games air 7 hours later than my standard NYC match times! (Well it’s actually the same time although I am in a different time zone). It was certainly an interesting weekend as Chelsea took on its 7th loss of the season and chatter continues to focus on topics such as potential relegation, firings and signings. It is important to see how this has effected or impacted the league leaders if at all and to see what insights and trends these fantasy football gurus have in regards to such happenings. Let’s dive in a bit to take a closer look at our top 10.
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Game-week 12?
This week, 40% of the top ten managers selected Vardy as captain (18 points), 30% Bony (2 points), 20% Ozil (16 points) and 10% Sanchez (10%). What is interesting here is the fact that 3 of the top 10 selected Bony, yet he is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Game-week 12?
Goalkeepers:
For this past gameweek 40% of the top managers selected Hart while 30% had Cech, 20% had Butland and 10% played de Gea.
Defenders:
This week we saw 16 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (50%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of 50% or higher. Smalling came in at 40% while Kompany, Clyne and Koscielny were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Moreno, van Dijk, Stones, Creswell, Azpilicueta, Dawson, Dann, Sagna, Zouma, Bertrand, and Monreal each with 10%.
Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 13 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Tadic, Mata and Couthino. Mahrez was the most popular pick with 100% ownership followed by Ozil at 60%, Sanchez at 50%, Payet at 40%, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne and Ayew each with 30%, and finally Mane, Wijnaldum and Barkley each with 20%.
Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers which again seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified and/or ever evolving or changing as needed. Vardy came in with 90% while Lukaku was the next popular pick as he received 60%. Martial was selected by 40% of the top managers with Bony and Pelle receiving 30%, Kane and Ighalo receiving 20% and Gomis coming in at 10%.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for game-week 12 were not many. They were Kolarov, Mahrez, Vardy, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ozil as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

– Our current leader finished 706,351 for the 2014/2015 season.
– Struthious D, currently in second place, has held one of the top 2 positions for the past 5 game-weeks and has a better opportunity to maintain such lead when compared to our #1 leader as he has only utilized his bench boost chip.
– Our 2nd top leader has played fantasy football for the past 9 seasons and his best finish was 74,308.
– Our 2nd top leader achieved only 36 game points for game-week 12 which was 9 points below the average of 45.

Just need to get this straight as i am a new player this season,if u bought Payet at 7.9 million then u can keep him till he loses that
Until he loses what? You can keep him for the whole season if you wish.
If you bought him for 7.9, you can sell him for 8.1 (he’s valued at 8.3 so you get half the profit)
If he drops 0.1 then you can only sell for 8.0 because the ‘profit’ is rounded down.
Gents,
Need a decent midfielder for 5.6 or less
Just as a 5th mid, or someone who will need to play?
Who plays and can pick up some points now and again
That much is obvious I mean are you looking for a bench warmer or someone who’ll be in your first 11?
He will be on the bench mate
Ali, Dembele, ibe, lanzini??
Who’s the cheapest option? Surman or Anya maybe? Either way, keep it cheap. We’ve got a certain Argie who is close to a return. No need to spend extra funds that will need a hit to release.
I’d go for Anya myself.
Lingard?
Nope.
NIN – I’m on the verge of a -8 to bring him in
Who, Lingard?
lol – no, Kun!!
Just kidding 😉
Yeah, don’t 😉
Was in same situation bought Lanzini, with Payet injured he will be now even more involved !
Need to make a change tonight to avoid losing money on Payet. My team is below and who do you think I should replace him with? Will only have 8.4 to play with. Was thinking Tadic but already have Pelle and Cedric! What do people think?
igy4 – If it were me, i would drop him for a cheap mid who’ll just sit out most weeks unless one of your players gets injured. The cheapest player in your front eight to bench is 6m’s worth, and it’s Mahrez. Attacking overload, for me.
Thanks NIN! Who would you suggest as a cheap 5th mid to replace him with?
Anyone who plays. Watford have a few nice games coming up so maybe Anya. Chances are he’ll be nailed to your bench in those games though.
Would get a cheap 5th mid or else who would you bench? And have spare cash for Aguero and maybe upgrade Simpson or Richards !
This might be a stupid question (suppose I’m asking for any abuse I get!) but any preference for any of the 4.3 – 5.0 mids?
Probably should’ve read the post above first…. :stupid: Don’t mind me.
Gosling and Ali for me
Drinkwater is a good shout at 4.5m.
Cheers Brooky. I agree but already have 3 from Lei.
Not really, 5th mid will be a non-using one. In my case it is Westwood.
Anya.
ZOMG. I’m so happy. Got 2 FT”s and I can actually buy back Kun with 1 move. Will have to drop Costa, but that one doesn’t hurt all that much. Harharhar.
Anyway, I’m gonna wait and sit out the annoying IB. Last IB everything was looking superb at the start of the 2 weeks, hell at the end of the 2 weeks. Remember a lot of people doing early transfers and those FT’s hurting them in the end since those players got injured, hahaha. Was awesome. I did take a hit for I think Costa and ummmmm van Dijk? Costa scored/assisted and vDijk got a monsterhaul when he scored.
Be smart, don’t be a retard. :E
Have absolutely no idea how to get Aguero in my team.
I can’t drop Kane in the form he’s in
Pelle and payet out won’t get me enough money to bring Aguero plus any mid.
I could choose to ignore Aguero and go for lukaku instead but that’s too scary.
Why the rush for Aguero? He’s not even fit.
Even if I take my time (2-3 gws), I still don’t know who to drop
Make that decision in a few weeks when it’s time to buy Aguero. There’s no sense in sacrificing points now. You have no FT’s anyway so there’s not a lot that can be done.
The thing is I kind of need to make that decision soon, so I know who to replace Payet with + to get lukaku or not.
You’ve got 0 FT’s and want Lukaku and need to sell Payet? That’s a -8 this week. I’m wondering where that FT has gone and why you’ve got eight first 11 attackers with no idea what to do now that Aguero is close to returning.
Basically, there’s no point in taking a -4 to sell Payet for a bench player, and you’ve got seven strong attackers. I think you’re best off just losing some money on Payet and do something about it after next GW.
I got Ozil in on Sunday lol, stupid decision. Don’t ask me why I did it.
Sound advice, I’ll wait till next gwk and take Payet off my team.
Get Kun in mate!!
How??!
Kolarov out as well now that he’s a rotation risk? Surman/Anya as 5th mid.
