Trends From The Top Gameweek 6
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. Last week we saw a lot of our current “leaders” rise to the top by taking advantage of the new chips. What trends did we see this week? What are the leaders doing and will they continue to maintain their leads?
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
This week, 50% of top managers wisely selected Mahrez (22 points) as their captain pick. And while in hindsight this makes sense, and many of us wish we had done the same, two of these managers actually initially selected Silva over him and had Mahrez as their vice captain choice. 20% of our leaders selected Aguero (10 points) and Wilson (14 points) while the remaining manager chose Pelle (26 points but again this also a vice captain choice to Silva).

What recent trend have most of the top managers been deploying?
In researching this week’s leaders, it was interesting to see that once again, most managers have used many if not all of their chips! 3 of the top 10 have exhausted ALL of their chips and the manager currently holding the 5th position also deployed their wildcard in gameweek 3.

What are some other interesting findings regarding the leaders?
– Only 3 of this week’s managers were in the Top Ten for gameweek 5.
– The best finish for any of these players was 61,276 (manager in 8th).
– Our current leader’s best finish was 374,049 and he has played for 8 seasons. (He sure gets bragging rights for this week but his reign will possibly be short-lived).
– 3 of the top players have no past season experience.
– I tend to be of the opinion that research, knowledge, analysis and a bit of luck help propel folks to the top. I also believe that top performers have a history of repeated success. Therefore, I would be most shocked if any of these players made it beyond the next few weeks in the FF top 10.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
Goalkeepers: For this past gameweek 50% of the top managers selected Cech while 10% had Hart, Butland, Mignolet, Boruc and de Gea.
Defenders: This week we saw 18 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (80%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of over 50%. Azpilicueta came in at 40% while Koscielny, Fonte and Smalling were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Cresswell, Darmian, Martin, Jagielka, Alderweireld, Sagna, Targett, Skrtel, Richards, Ivanovic, Bellerin, Francis, and Amavi each with 10%.
Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 14 different picks with Mahrez being the most popular with 100% ownership followed by Ayew, Barkley and Yaya Toure at 40%, Wijnaldum and Payet at 30% and Tadic, Mata and Pedro at 20%. Several others managed only 10% of the vote such as Coutinho, Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez, and Sako
Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of a whopping 11 picks among the top managers which seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified. Pelle came in with 60% while Wilson was the next popular pick as he received 40%. Benteke, Vardy and Gomis were selected by 30% of the top managers with Aguero receiving just 20% and Lukaku, Martial, Defoe and Ighalo each receiving 10% a piece.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 6 were not many. They were Cech, Kolarov, Mahrez and Pelle as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Thinking of Gomez -> Cresswell. Last chance for Sanchez this week, if he doesn’t give points against Lei will remove him
Sounds like a decent plan and one I’m considering. Can’t make my mind up between Cresswell and Azpi at the moment.
I have Begovic so would definetly get Cresswell 😉
Superb article Beka.
Will see in the next couple of weeks.
Is Gomez going to be a none starter now ???
hope not, my defence sucks as it is. Need to Replace Huth i hate useing transfers on budget defenders
Looks like.
If Diouf is back, will Bojan get the starts?
If Diouf is back which I hope he is Bojangles will play just behind him , hasn’t the pace to play up front as a No 9
Ta Silvers. How do you rate him as a 3rd cheap striker? I mean, with all the early bandwagon from last year forgotten, is he a worthwhile addition considering Stoke’s juicy fixtures?
I have him but if he doesn’t make it back this wk he’s gone , Stoke have really good fixture & Diouf stands a better chance of points with Bojangles back so I would say yes.
Thanks for this Beka, interesting read, I haven’t even looked that far up the table yet ?
I haven’t hit confirm yet but after another really poor week I’m looking at using my WC, what do you think of this draft?
Silva staying in is dependant on injury news
Bego / Schwarzer
Sagna / Williams / Evans / Francis / 4.5 def (might leave Oxford as bench fodder)
Silva / Mata / Mahrez / Payet / Ayew
Aguero / Martial / Wilson
Hey photek join the club really bad GW for me 5 players didn’t start this looks like a good team maybe down grd Ayew to Sako , Barkley or Arnautovic this would give you cash to up grd Wilson tough fixtures coming up. Martial I would only use for 1 GW as you have Mata. Looks good 😉
cheers Silver, I feel your pain mate, i don’t think i’ve had 1 good gameweek yet.
was thinking Wilson only on current form, could try Vardy, Sakho or Diouf instead.
photek if any of the above I would go with Diouf if he’s fit , you have Lei & WHU cover. The move with Pelle could also work you would still have a strong MF , I would fancy Diouf out scoring Pelle over nk 5 GW if he is fit much easy fixtures , but Pelle seems to be hitting a bit of form tough one 😉
Cheer Silver, i’ll give it some thought and have a look at the fixtures a bit better.
Ayew > Sako leaves me enough for Wilson > Pelle.
Could give Martial a week or 2 and if he dries up downgrade him to someone cheaper 😉
Afternoon all nice interesting read that.
I got 2 ft this week with 0.1 in the bank.
Really unsure what transfers to make
Any ideas?
Nothing to replace there so would take out Morgan as Leicester have shite defence and get Watford’s Nyom or WH’s Oxford as Ogbanna is injured he or other cheap would get run of 2-3 gw’s and save the other FT for next week for Sanchez and Pedro if they fail to perform and get Payet or Martial for either !
