Trends From The Top Gameweek 6
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. Last week we saw a lot of our current “leaders” rise to the top by taking advantage of the new chips. What trends did we see this week? What are the leaders doing and will they continue to maintain their leads?
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
This week, 50% of top managers wisely selected Mahrez (22 points) as their captain pick. And while in hindsight this makes sense, and many of us wish we had done the same, two of these managers actually initially selected Silva over him and had Mahrez as their vice captain choice. 20% of our leaders selected Aguero (10 points) and Wilson (14 points) while the remaining manager chose Pelle (26 points but again this also a vice captain choice to Silva).

What recent trend have most of the top managers been deploying?
In researching this week’s leaders, it was interesting to see that once again, most managers have used many if not all of their chips! 3 of the top 10 have exhausted ALL of their chips and the manager currently holding the 5th position also deployed their wildcard in gameweek 3.

What are some other interesting findings regarding the leaders?
– Only 3 of this week’s managers were in the Top Ten for gameweek 5.
– The best finish for any of these players was 61,276 (manager in 8th).
– Our current leader’s best finish was 374,049 and he has played for 8 seasons. (He sure gets bragging rights for this week but his reign will possibly be short-lived).
– 3 of the top players have no past season experience.
– I tend to be of the opinion that research, knowledge, analysis and a bit of luck help propel folks to the top. I also believe that top performers have a history of repeated success. Therefore, I would be most shocked if any of these players made it beyond the next few weeks in the FF top 10.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
Goalkeepers: For this past gameweek 50% of the top managers selected Cech while 10% had Hart, Butland, Mignolet, Boruc and de Gea.
Defenders: This week we saw 18 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (80%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of over 50%. Azpilicueta came in at 40% while Koscielny, Fonte and Smalling were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Cresswell, Darmian, Martin, Jagielka, Alderweireld, Sagna, Targett, Skrtel, Richards, Ivanovic, Bellerin, Francis, and Amavi each with 10%.
Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 14 different picks with Mahrez being the most popular with 100% ownership followed by Ayew, Barkley and Yaya Toure at 40%, Wijnaldum and Payet at 30% and Tadic, Mata and Pedro at 20%. Several others managed only 10% of the vote such as Coutinho, Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez, and Sako
Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of a whopping 11 picks among the top managers which seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified. Pelle came in with 60% while Wilson was the next popular pick as he received 40%. Benteke, Vardy and Gomis were selected by 30% of the top managers with Aguero receiving just 20% and Lukaku, Martial, Defoe and Ighalo each receiving 10% a piece.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 6 were not many. They were Cech, Kolarov, Mahrez and Pelle as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Evening all few problems Silva & Diouf injured hoping both back @ wknd anyone any news. Gomez , Muniesa & Cedric all didn’t start will they be back .@ wknd ????????. 😉
Tough luck there, Silvers. Your best bet is probably to wait for the league cup matches and then reassess. Hopefully, the law of averages will be on your side, and at least 2 or 3 of these players will be back for the weekend. None of them deserve to be shipped out for the sake of it (with the possible exception of Gomez):
-Silva is just class
-Diouf has nice fixtures and able support in Bojan
-Stoke did not look better without Muniesa
-Cedric’s pace will be key against Swans
Cheers Los thought I had covered all my team hit with 5 out plenty of red arrows. I will keep Silva & Diouf just hope there back & wknd.
Rest I will keep an eye on.
From a saints fan I expect Cedric to come back into the team, the team was more defensive against united which didn’t pay off, Yossida didn’t have a good game and was clearly at fault for the second goal. Keep an eye of the cup game tomorrow, if Cedric starts I thinks hes nailed on for the weekend
Pedro > Silva for GW7 ?
Newcastle are awful so can imagine Pedro scoring/assisting
I expect Cheslki to win comfortably. Then everyone will be like oh chelsea are back. But aha its jsut terrible newcastle so it means nothing even if they win 6-0.
Just the biggest question is who from chelsea, none of them are a safe bet IMO. Pedro to me looks the safest, or even Oscar if he didnt rotate so much. Not convinced with fabregas, costa or Hazard at the moment. Especially with their ridic prices. I aint going to decide this till last minute
Everybody is talking about United’s run of fixtures being tough soon so don’t bring in any of their players. Maybe people should look at Van Gaal and United’s record against the top teams last season.
Hi MarkGL
You did make me check. Four points from six against Arsenal, three points from six against City and one point from six versus Chelsea. They weren’t invincible.
And I’m not saying anyone shouldn’t bring in United, just reminding those to look beyond the next fixture.
I agree with GP MU fixtures after Sun arnt great & they are still finding there feet if you want to take in any United player it should be Mata just my opinion.
Anyone think that is it for Gomez hands up
Silvers
I don’t think that Moreno has nailed down his place by any means. I think both might be in and out. Enrique is also still there I believe so he might get a shot
The end of you being able to rely on him every week maybe.
Cheers GP any ideas on a replacement thinking Nyom or Martin ?
Silvers
Cover West Brom if you haven’t already, if you have then Nyom looks decent to me.
I’m hoping it was more of a tactical/setup decision from BR. Straight three in the back meant Gomez was first to go. How’d that work out v Norwich? 😉
I think so mate.. I hate having a player in the team and praying for him to start.. Worst thing is he might be benched and might come in for
15 mins or so.. Better to ship him out and get someone who starts every game.. I will ship him out if both silva and benteke are fine..
Thanks praveen it’s a bloody pain.
Evening all!!
Hate jumping on bandwagons! But as the saying goes form is key, class doesn’t matter (be it I really do hope the big hitters start firing soon….. Yes you Kun)
I have succumbed and brought in martial and payet! (Had payet at the start and regretted transferring him out ever since) I will deal with my defence next week with my extremely cunning plan once I have worked out what that is
Current team for GW7. Thoughts?
is Martial seriously going up again 2night? I wanted to wait for news on Benteke and mid week games
