Trends From The Top Gameweek 6
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. Last week we saw a lot of our current “leaders” rise to the top by taking advantage of the new chips. What trends did we see this week? What are the leaders doing and will they continue to maintain their leads?
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
This week, 50% of top managers wisely selected Mahrez (22 points) as their captain pick. And while in hindsight this makes sense, and many of us wish we had done the same, two of these managers actually initially selected Silva over him and had Mahrez as their vice captain choice. 20% of our leaders selected Aguero (10 points) and Wilson (14 points) while the remaining manager chose Pelle (26 points but again this also a vice captain choice to Silva).

What recent trend have most of the top managers been deploying?
In researching this week’s leaders, it was interesting to see that once again, most managers have used many if not all of their chips! 3 of the top 10 have exhausted ALL of their chips and the manager currently holding the 5th position also deployed their wildcard in gameweek 3.

What are some other interesting findings regarding the leaders?
– Only 3 of this week’s managers were in the Top Ten for gameweek 5.
– The best finish for any of these players was 61,276 (manager in 8th).
– Our current leader’s best finish was 374,049 and he has played for 8 seasons. (He sure gets bragging rights for this week but his reign will possibly be short-lived).
– 3 of the top players have no past season experience.
– I tend to be of the opinion that research, knowledge, analysis and a bit of luck help propel folks to the top. I also believe that top performers have a history of repeated success. Therefore, I would be most shocked if any of these players made it beyond the next few weeks in the FF top 10.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Gameweek 6?
Goalkeepers: For this past gameweek 50% of the top managers selected Cech while 10% had Hart, Butland, Mignolet, Boruc and de Gea.
Defenders: This week we saw 18 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (80%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of over 50%. Azpilicueta came in at 40% while Koscielny, Fonte and Smalling were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Cresswell, Darmian, Martin, Jagielka, Alderweireld, Sagna, Targett, Skrtel, Richards, Ivanovic, Bellerin, Francis, and Amavi each with 10%.
Midfielders: When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 14 different picks with Mahrez being the most popular with 100% ownership followed by Ayew, Barkley and Yaya Toure at 40%, Wijnaldum and Payet at 30% and Tadic, Mata and Pedro at 20%. Several others managed only 10% of the vote such as Coutinho, Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez, and Sako
Forwards: This week, the front line consisted of a whopping 11 picks among the top managers which seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified. Pelle came in with 60% while Wilson was the next popular pick as he received 40%. Benteke, Vardy and Gomis were selected by 30% of the top managers with Aguero receiving just 20% and Lukaku, Martial, Defoe and Ighalo each receiving 10% a piece.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for Gameweek 6 were not many. They were Cech, Kolarov, Mahrez and Pelle as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

Hey peeps, very early to consider transfers I know, but before it’s too late:
Gomis + Wanyama —–> Emnes + Payet on 2 FTs tonight?
My concerns are that Gomis has a high ownership, so selling is risky, plus Wanyama plays whilst Emnes… doesn’t.
To be honest. I don’t like it. You only have 3 triker slots and to that would be a waste. Can you get Ighalo in instead?
No
Don’t mince your words there LaB
Hi James, that represents a change in formation and leaves no back-up in that department at all. That feels very risky. Also it leaves little room for manoeuvre if say another forward suddenly hits form as Wilson is so cheap. Not sure I’d be doing that move mate in all honesty.
Thanks for the feedback lads! Labyrinth especially… 😉
It’s what I expect to hear. Risky indeed! Considering I have Targett and Muniesa too.
Will back down for now! I hate Payet aha…
Tq james..
Lol
Hey guys
I’m starting get a grip on my side
Steadily progressing up the ranks.
I have Few tips..
Go with your gut feeling.
Take a hit if you want.
Don’t be too hasty to pull the trigger.
Pull the trigger early if need be.
Keep a balanced side, with low budget PLAYING bench options….
Lastly remember the Mantra….
Form over Fixture
Form over fixture
Form over fixture…..
It don’t matter who they play…jump on that Form Bandwagon before it leaves the station…
Martial is a Kid in form & O’ my God he’s as cool as a Cucumber.
You’ve been warned.
BigPopz,
Been doing quite well myself, thankfully, and here’s my list:
Go with your Excel sheet
Don’t take hits
Pull the trigger Friday evening or Carry over FTs
Get 15 players with solid stats (money is not an issue this season)
Fixtures over Form (repeat 3x)
Don’t jump on that bandwagon
Martial is a kid
I guess there’s more than one way to skin a cat!!!
Oh, Martial is going to punish me now, I can feel it in my bones :O
Bigpopz – a man of my own heart – well said
The whole afternoon’s debate over what is essentially Martial vs Utd’s fixtures has been very entertaining and informative. I agreed with Saint earlier and perhaps should have prefaced it with ‘I am almost certainly buying him myself this week’.
If nothing else it’s sorted the intro out for tomorrow’s Fixtures article!
Can’t wait for it Init.
You won’t be naming names will you?
Init still debating it don’t know if he might be rested now & then what are your thoughts ?
See below answer mate but as for being rested, if he’s the one firing them to victories he won’t be.
This Martial is getting on my nerves what makes it even worse is he goes up tonight & Gomis goes down he will be out of my reach without a hit then.
But he does worry me against Sun they are so poor. I might have to hit the trigger & worry about my def later decisions decisions. 😉
Silvers for what it’s worth I’ll be getting him I think but also I have the luxury of waiting a few days just in case any other problems present themselves in the meantime. Him and his form against Sunderland at home look too good an opportunity to pass up really. I’ll happily keep him against Arsenal and Everton also.
Can you really afford to wait until he’s gone up 0.3? I know most around here don’t rate the importance of team value very highly, but he’s rising like a rocket! And if you know you’re getting him anyway…
Yeah I’m waiting. Don’t worry CC, I’m rolling in it
What’s your guys thoughts on Zouma?
Viable way into a good defence?
He looked good on Saturday against Arsenal!
50Shades
I see Mourinho picking his defence depending on the fixture. I’d say Begovic is a safer bet personally.
This is my thought exactly. If i had 2 freebies this week I would have Begovic or Azp in my squad.
Pelle to martial or no?
Cedric to zouma or no?
Got 2 FTs. Will use one
which one??
1. Schmeichel to Adrian?
2. Muniesa to Dawson?
i am starting Schmeichel Kolarov Naughton and Francis this week in a 3-4-3
with Rudd Muniesa and Oxford on bench among backs
which one Guys??
cheers
Leicester feel a bit leaky and free for all so I like that move but I think the second one is better overall.
Schmeichel should get plenty of opportunities for saves this weekend. I would do the second personally.
cheers guys
appreciate your help
Is Evans WBA nailed on baring injuries ?
Yes
Rate so
I am also looking for a Gomez to Evans
