World Cup 2014 Fixtures Schedule

World Cup 2014 Fixtures ScheduleFollowing on from our World Cup group by group analysis we are delighted to present to you our fixture tracker for the group stages. Many thanks to Andy who kindly volunteered to provide us with this along with his take on how it will all pan out in the usual colour coded fashion, complete with a current form guide which will give you an idea of how each team is shaping up in preparation for the big day. Hopefully this will be of some help to you all as you plan your fantasy teams and their progression through the group stages. We shall endeavour to update this as the competition progresses to the knock out stages to keep you as well informed as possible.

 Form Guide Key

W – Wins
D – Draws
L – Losses
F- Goals For
A- Goals Against
CS- Clean sheets attained in last 10 games

Rather than taking results from the last 6 games as per the norm I’ve stretched it out to include the last 10 games to try and include as much competitive football as possible as persistent freindly games are sometimes not the best stats to gather information from, I think only the Koreans have not had a competitive game in their last 10 games. The quality of opposition also varies greatly across the board.

NB All stats are up to date to the 23/05/14, all teams still have either 2 or 3 friendlies left to play until the competition kicks off.

Color Code Key

Purple – Not only do I think this team has a high chance of winning the game I also believe it may be possible for them to win by a fairly big margin.

Green – All green team games should be considered as favorites for this tie.

Yellow – All yellow team games should be considered, as it could possibly go either way.

Red – All red team games could see that team struggling in that corresponding fixture.

  1. Morning Cookster + Init, heres an early bird question for you both :- Name the six Gary’s to have made 200 or more Premier League appearances.

  2. When can you start setting up a team for the WC? ( sorry, i can’t see the site, it’s blocked at my work)

  3. Morning chaps…

Is there anyone using any other site for the WC f/footy..
I know we’re all using the mcD’s side, but other than The Sun (spits out phlegm)
is there any others out there…?

    • There is telegraph, but its not free. I have heard its quite good.

  4. Morning teaser…

    You should all get these..

Q.) 7 players have scored 30 or more premier league goals in a season ….
    Name them..?

  5. Seen this on another Forum and thought it would be interesting. Who are your predictions for the official awards:
    Golden ball (Best player):
    Golden boot (Top scorer):
    Gloden glove (Best goalkeeper):
Best young player (Under 21 at the beginning of the calender year):
    Misc. Awards:
Surprise of the tournament (a player that few expected to be one of the stars of the tournament):
The Poborsky award (a player coming from (relative) obscurity who has a great tournament and gets sold to a European powerhouse for silly money, only to flunk badly there):
    Flop of the tournament:

    • Golden ball (Best player): Messi
      Golden boot (Top scorer): Higuain
Gloden glove (Best goalkeeper): Casillas (spain) I think he’s crap but he’s won just about everything else before somehow.
Best young player (Under 21 at the beginning of the calender year): Unsure
Misc. Awards: Surprise Hondo (Japan) or John Obi Mikel (Nigeria) Plays totally different to how he does at Chelsea and was outstanding at the last African nations cup.
Hulk will probably get a decent move away after the tournament.

        • Think Yaya Toure without the goals although I think he had plenty of opportunity’s, this was of course the African nations cup so the standard will rise but Nigeria did win it beating Ivory Coast along the way.

        • Not something I knew about Obi Mikel either & if so he could be an ideal player for the World Cup game with the current rules benefitting defensive players and if he has offensive duties too then he should be great!

        • I have my eyes on him. He is a great player for Nigeria. Not your usual goal scorer but you can rely on him for the assist points if there are any goals scored.

Moreover, his tackling is splendid and this is where he will be a gem. He plays in the middle of the midfield and will earn lots of recovered balls points. smile

        • Great! Thanks B laugh
Looking forward to selecting my squad…. Of course, we all know it doesn’t quite work like that. Haha!

    • Golden ball (Best player): Ronaldo
      Golden boot (Top scorer): Ronaldo
      Golden glove (Best goalkeeper): Casillas
      Best young player: Pogba
      Surprise of the tournament: ??
Flop of the tournament: Rooney, as per usual.

    • Golden ball (Best player): Neymar
      Golden boot (Top scorer): Kun
      Golden glove (Best goalkeeper): Lloris
      Best young player: Pogba
      Surprise of the tournament: Sanchez
      Flop of the tournament: Rooney

    • Golden ball (Best player): Neymar
      Golden boot (Top scorer): Messi
      Gloden glove (Best goalkeeper): Casillas
Best young player (Under 21 at the beginning of the calender year): Julian Green
Surprise of the tournament (a player that few expected to be one of the stars of the tournament): Alexis Sanchez
The Poborsky award (a player coming from (relative) obscurity who has a great tournament and gets sold to a European powerhouse for silly money, only to flunk badly there): Miralem Pjanic (not sure if he counts as an obscure player, but whatever 😛 )
Flop of the tournament: Cristiano Ronaldo 😉

  6. Who is the only player to win back-to-back trebles (domestic title, domestic cup and Champions League) in European club football?
