Well, England plus another seven 😉 Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.
Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!
We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!
From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

so, FPL. Come May and the end of the season we often look back at our squads from GW1 and think, jeez if only I’d have kept ‘so and so’ or ‘so and so’….
…in that regard is anyone tempted to pick some select names…(ie Salah, Eriksen, Alonso, Robertson, Mkhitaryan) and just leave them in there unless they get an injury ? Not those names necessarily, they were just random, but you get the point? I’m thinking about it….

I’m thinking along those lines too, someone posted up a team on twitter and it was all the usual suspects; Salah, Azpi, DDG and if I remember Vardy and Bobby up top ( no big hitter) anyway, that team would have netted enough points to do really well (don’t recall how well!) but the point was that there are certain players who always perform over the course of the season, even if they go through barren periods.
Obviously it’s easy in hindsight but I do think identifying the key players and building from that should always be your starting point, then it’s a case of having the stones to stand by them through thick and thin!!

depends on the rest of your team really AK47 – on the face of it, it sounds fine, though not for a hit.
He is an enabler really, don’t expect much from him. The Maguire to Trippier upgrade looks good also.

The big deals are still to come. I am glad that finally they decided all transfers to be completed before the start of the season. We won’t have the problems like before when suddenly a player has been transferred away from the EPL and it’s already GW 2.

If you decide to use Maximum Captain it doesn’t matter who you pick as long as by the end of the round, your highest scorer is in your starting eleven.
You would alter your subs as appropriate after today’s games.

Good luck mate. I am going with Mbappe for today, if he fails Kane should do the job tomorrow. Mind you, Belgian players look attractive as I expect today to be the end of the road for Brazil 🙂

I used the Max Cap in the last round and all I got was 14 points from Kane. It’s hard to say as the games are becoming low scoring affairs.
