Welcome to World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat. And then there were eight. Well, England plus another seven 😉 Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.
Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!
We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!
From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

Anyone still alive after yesterday’s epic what a great result big decision to make , go out to watch the semis or Traval down to London to go to Wimbledon if I hadn’t already been to Wimbledon I wouldn’t have to thk about it ???

Was going to drive down Wed night sorry 1230 thu morning 5/6 hr drive so really annoying , have to have a look at train times but not sure that an option

Why don’t you get a train down Weds lunchtime, watch the game in London, book a hotel then easy to Wimbledon for Thursday?

Silvers I know a great place in Wimbledon to watch the game. Getting a hotel in Wimbledon may prove tricky though.

Not tricky, it’s almost impossible. Very often some players who unexpectedly have progressed to that stage can’t even extend their accommodation.

That is true. With the crazy prices if you have a property in this area you can pay off your mortgage after two seasons 🙂

Silvers, there’s a pub/bar called the Garret and Gauge pretty much opposite the station. Gets really full so getting served can be a bit of a mission but if you’re after atmosphere that’s the best place to be. Songs, limbs and beer flying everywhere when we win. I will very likely be in there myself. I think you’ll struggle getting a hotel locally though unfortunately. Theres a Travelodge in Raynes Park that might have space and isn’t far.
