Good Evening and welcome to the launch of my Summer Competition. Given as UEFA have left all us good fantasy folk stranded with no actual competition to play I thought I would step forward to try and fill the void a bit with my own little competition, just to keep us entertained. The competition is based on the Under 21 European Tournament which starts on Friday 16th June. Screw UEFA then, let’s get on with it…
Your aim is to gather as many points as possible, its that simple.
Follow this link to the UEFA site to find all you need to know when selecting your men who’ll hopefully bring you European Glory (then click on the Under 21 tab).
Lets Play ‘Its A Pre-Tournament Gamble’
The Rules.
A – Select 5 players from any position you wish.
B – Highlight one as your Captain (C) for double points.
C – Your men may come from just one of the Under 21 teams or a pick and mix from any.
D – Your five man team must be picked ahead of the tournament starting, hence its all a Potty gamble.
E – There will be two groups which I’ll draw on Monday at 9pm, with the top four after the group stage is complete making the semi-finals stage.
The Potty Points System!!!!
All your players will gain points as follows…
Appearance (and even off the bench) = 15pts
Goalkeeper/Defender cleansheet = 25pts
Goalkeeper/Defender conceeding = -10pts per goal
Any player making an assist = 20pts per assist
Any player scoring = 30pts per goal
Yellow or Red Card flashed = -5pts & -8pts respectively.

The 1st part of the competition, and your 5 picks as per above, are for the group stages only. You will get to pick a different squad after that but stay tuned for details should you qualify that far.
So do a wee bit of research then post those men of yours below.

Morning guys! Hows everyones U-21 Squads shaping up? Spent a day pouring over every article I can find and now feel I actually know who a lot of the players are! My selection for Pottys comp is now looking iffy but hey ho!!
I’m now looking forward to watching the U21 comp a lot more now that I’m doing the comp!
Hey Rosco, how’s your summer going mate? Just set up my team yesterday but it was a lot harder to do than I thought. Are you able to change your lineup? My players won’t switch.
Good mate, missed FPL but also enjoyed a break!
This comp will ease us in gently!! Yeah no problems in switching players in the ‘My Squad’ page, presume you mean for formation?
Haha same here, the fixtures coming out has helped get a bit more excited for the new season!! I’ll have to try again then!!

DMC – if you’re around mate I just want your opinion on the Portugal team, does Bruma start up top for Portugal or is he out on the left? Can’t decide between him or Renato!
Matt – To be honest I don’t know!
This is what we ‘know’ ATM: GK: should be Varela, who did the qualifying, but Utd’s Joel Pereira may be the one. Avoid the risk for gw1.
Def: Cancelo, Figueiredo, Semedo and Rebocho.
Mid: Ruben Neves (dmc) Renato and Fernandes
For: nobody really knows.
I’d say Guedes is nailed on for his background in this team but he hasn’t played a proper game since joining PSG in January.
I also think Podence will start the first game. He has speed and pace and ended the season well at Sporting (I may be bias).
Paciência will too if we play with a man up top.
If not , then Bruma (good full season at Galatasaray) comes in and Guedes will be wandering around the front line. People like Iuri Medeiros, Ricardo Horta, Diogo Jota can all play in any forward positions (as can the others mentioned, bar Paciência , who can only do the number 9 role).
If I had to second guess the first XI it would be :
Varela
The said four and three in defense and mid and then Podence, Guedes, Bruma.

Cheers for this DMC. Definitely a lot of options for ye lot then!! Think I’ll just stick with Bruma then.
So Renato would come in for Carvalho in mid and then the other changes in defense and GK I mentioned.
This pic basically shows that we have played without a classic striker (Paciência being the only one also indicates he won’t favor that system) before.
