Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4. Thankfully the International break is over and what a way to kick it off in GW4. A Saturday lunch time affair brings with it the most interesting fixture of the week. City will play host to Liverpool and their new arrival Keita…wait, apparently he arrives next season, oh well, at least we get to see how Virgil van Dijk fits in. As for City, while Alexis did not arrive, Aguero is more than capable of taking up the pouting. That game is followed by five 3pm games. Big money Arsenal welcome in The Cherries, high scoring Brighton tangle with The Baggies, Everton will look to sober up after that drunken performance last time out when they meet up with September Kane. Leicester look to steal some points off the champions and Saints and Watford mix it up in a battle of two unbeaten teams. We finish the Saturday fixtures when the powerful Man United side pay a visit to Bet365 stadium, where I am sure the owners will take your bets on United crushing the home team.

Sunday makes us wish we were still in the International break as Burnley gets their chance at 3 easy points when Palace comes in and if that wasn’t punishment enough we get hit with Swansea vs Newcastle in the late game.

Sunday had some terrible games, but not to worry, as Monday will not be outdone and they offer up equally unwatchable stuff when The Hammers welcome in Huddersfield.

    Evening everyone!
Have got 2 FTs and thinking I need some Spurs defensive coverage. Which would you prefer?:
    A. Stephens and Foster to Trippier and Elliot
    B. Stephens, Foster and Loftus Cheek to Davies, Elliot and Lee Chung-yong (-4)
Hope you’re all doing well this gameweek!

    Evening all,

Is it logical to assume that over the course of the season Ali & firminio will easily out score Kane and a 5.5?

If so then why do I find myself wanting to do the transfers?

      Evening hammers.

      1. Yes.

      2. Because like the rest of us, this week you have just watched the former total 5 pts between them, and the latter around 30 – probably more when you consider that if you had Kane he would obviously have been your Cappo.

I have similar thoughts about various players after pretty much every GW laugh

      • hammers says:

Yep that about sums it up.

Think it’s because he can be a devastating capt pick, whereas you’re unlikely to make someone like Ali capt.

You just have to accept the weeks he goes goal crazy and hope your 2 strong players score more than him and a weaker one I suppose.

      Mr Bean says:

I assume Alli will be no more than 20-30 points behind Kane if they both perform as expected. If Firminio scores the same as last year, your 5.5 midfielder would need to score 150-160 points which rarely happens and I would expect the 5.5 to be more around the 100-120 mark (none of them stand out at the moment)

However, if Kane is your captain vs Alli this extends to 40-60 extra points but I feel while if you own Kane you have to captain him every week, without him you are more free to captain players based on fixtures and these extra 20-30 points are negated. I also feel Lukaku/Morata can match Kanes scoring this season at a lower cost.

I personally like the Alli, Firminio option but it probably won’t be too different over the season.

      • Mr Bean says:

Well that was a long incoherent ramble with no real point in the end…

        • hammers says:

Lol, did make some kind of sense.

I was actually considering having lukaku morata and Kane up top.

        • Mr Bean says:

So with that I assume you can only afford Pogba/Mikhi and one of Salah/Eriksen/De Bruyne and then no Chelsea/City defence?

Kane and Lukaku scored exactly the same as Alli/Eriksen last year but the latter saves you 2/3 mil. This allows you to have Alonso/Azpi over a 4.5 defender who last season scored 40/50 points more than any 4.5 defenders. So for example last year Alli (c) and Alonso would have outscored Lukaku (c) and Keane by 60 odd points.

        • hammers says:

Yes you assume correct. Team is attached. Not overly fussed about city cover tbh, have Spurs and Utd.

I’m really happy with my 68 (-4 hit) this week.

Made 2 trades early, Kompany >> Mbemba and Willian >> Salah. Really didn’t justify the -4 hit except that it made me play Mee on field this week who had a CS. nice

I seriously considered taking another hit and trading out Gross, but some extremely intelligent people here told me not to. very nice.

Happy Birthday Cookie old boy! Looks like the FPL gods brought you a 70+ bday pressie. If only you’d cappo’d Kane and played Elliott ay.
