Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 30 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16

Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 29Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Captain Picks for GW30! We are entering the part of the season where the difference between the newbies and the experienced becomes obvious, so if you all, like me, are looking to salvage some pride and climb up the rankings, this is the time to do it. Part of doing that is selecting the right captain, and I must admit, it was a bit more difficult writing this article than usual as half the teams don’t play this GW. On reflection though, it may be a vastly reduced game-week but the captain pool doesn’t suffer as a result, as there are still a good many exceptional candidates this week, so let’s get right to it.

Sergio Aguero (away vs Norwich)
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]

[/three_fourth]The obvious choice for many would be Aguero for this round. He was the obvious choice last round as well, and rewarded his cappers with 2 goals, which could have been 3 had he converted the penalty. Now he’s coming up against a Norwich side that have tightened up a bit defensively lately, but still haven’t kept a clean sheet since GW20. While Aguero blanked in his 2 matches before last week’s brace against Aston Villa, he has scored 8 goals altogether in his last 7 matches. Clearly, he is on form and should haul a decent amount of points against relegation candidates Norwich, who sit last in the form table, having lost 5 of their last 6 matches. Expect Kun to be topping most Captain polls this week as many will just default to the tried and tested method when in doubt of #alwayscaptainkun.

Harry Kane (away vs Aston Villa)

[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]

[/three_fourth]If Aguero was the standout captain option last week because he was up against Villa’s defence, then Kane has to be one of the standout options this weekend as it’s his turn to go up against the same. Spurs were on a 6 match winning streak before losing to West Ham and drawing to Arsenal, and will surely look to rebound with a win against Villa. Kane may have blanked in 3 of his last 5 matches, but that shouldn’t matter much against a defence that has managed to concede 15 goals in their last 4 matches. This should be a walkover for Spurs, just as it was for City, and Kane should be expected to be among the goals. Villa really are at a low, in every sense of the word and an early Spurs goal has every chance of opening the floodgates for another thrashing.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (away vs Bournemouth)
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]

[/three_fourth]If you’re looking for a differential this week, my recommendation would be Sigurdsson. The Icelander has scored more goals this season than any season before with 8 goals, and most importantly, 6 of those 8 goals have come in his last 10 matches. That being said, he comes up against a Bournemouth team that have conceded only 1 goal in their last 3 matches. Furthermore, they have won 3 of their last 6, putting them 7th in the form table. Still, Sigurdsson can put in a performance against anyone, as he has proven by scoring against Manchester United and Everton, and coming off the bench to assist against Arsenal. While he is not as recommendable as the other options in this article, he represents a differential to all of them.

Riyad Mahrez & Jamie Vardy (home vs Newcastle)
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]

[/three_fourth]This match really is a top vs bottom tie as 1st-placed Leicester welcome Newcastle, who sit 2nd last in the league. While Leicester have struggled a bit lately, drawing against West Bromwich and barely winning against Norwich & Watford, their struggles are nowhere near Newcastle’s struggles, who have lost 6 straight matches away. Regardless of their form, Leicester should be expected to win comfortably against this Newcastle side. Mahrez has registered 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 7 matches, while Vardy has 4 goals and 1 assist in just as many matches. Which one you want to give the armband to is much down to personal preference, but both players should be considered safe options for this round. Newcastle have conceded 12 goals in their last 5 matches, so both Mahrez and Vardy should be among the points this weekend.

That’s it for this week’s Captain Picks. Good luck!

Great stuff Tekno, nice and straigthforward picks. I have ´em all so will need to choose wisely. Who are you going with?

    Hey everyone,
2 FTs and a 1.5m in the back, what would you do with his lot for GW30?

I could play just 2 mids, and not make any changes but I don’t want to lose the transfer either.
    Myhill is a concern too.

I think you’re fine with that 5-2-3 specialK. Maybe take the chance to get rid of Deadwood for let’s say Ben Watson or Lingard. They´ll both have a DGW around the corner. That way you are able to field a decent 11 this GW without losing Payet / Ozil and you don’t completely waste the transfer while keeping that extra dosh quiet. Just a thought of course. If you want to strenghten this GW”s 11 then I’d be looking at Silva/YYT and bench VVD out of that lot.

Is there only me with only 9 players for GW30 ?

Good stuff Tekno, cheers, not an easy choice at all this time.

Silva over Yaya? I’m not blown away by either of them right now but I need to sell Sanchez for one of ’em really.

There where certain players I just didn’t what to get rid off I had to much cash tired up in them which I’m certain will come in handy in the DGWs I have a SP off 105.3 not sure how that compares

    Same question as most.
    Who to bring in.

    Sanchez > ?
I’ve narrowed it down to these..
    Silva
    Yaya
    Arnie
    Siggy

Based on form & potential Dgw ahead, who should I go for?

I could save transfer & field 11 in a 5-2-3 but I’m relying on Targett to play.
