5 must have players in your fantasy premier league team:
Each week of fantasy football entails some common questions related to transfers, captaincy doubts, the bandwagons, etc. But there’s one important goal that many fantasy football managers forget – finding ‘set and forget’ players. There are some of these players every season that you must have in your team. Their value for the price makes the sport betting market for them almost impossible to be shipped out, that’s why they’re praised all across the fantasy football space. We’ll only be talking about these players in this article. Without further ado, let’s get to the business.
1. John Lundstram [£5.2m]
Could it get more obvious? He has been the hidden gem on this season and it’s unbelievable to even think he started the season with a mere £4.0m value. If you got him in the beginning, good for you. If you didn’t, it’s not a bad time to lay your eyes on him. Although it’s recommended to buy him after GW24, as his value may also come down and all the dicey fixtures would be gone. His value would be somewhere be around £4.8m, which would still be an amazing value for the output he generates. Sheffield Utd are a very defensive team and probably one of the best defensive sides in the league. It’s a no-brainer to have at least one Sheffield defender after GW 24. One of the best things about him is the fact that he plays out of position. Despite being listed as a defender in the FPL database, he has never really played as one. He plays as a central midfielder and has been involved in 5 goals (3 goals, 2 assists) so far this season along with 7 clean sheets.
Make sure you keep this gem in your watchlist.
2. Martin Kelly [£4.4m]
Another cheap defender with amazing sports betting value. Quite similar to Sheffield, the strength of Crystal Palace also lies in their backline. With how VAR has affected the games this season, investing heavy in defenders isn’t really a great bet, unless they’re very involved in the attacking plays of the team, like Liverpool’s fullbacks. Hence, with 6 clean sheets so far, Kelly is a solid asset. His fixtures are pretty reliable (don’t be scared of that Arsenal game) until GW24. You can swap him and Lundstram after GW24. Given Palace’s defensive record this year, having one of their defenders is a must-have for the season.
3. Jamie Vardy [£10.1m]
This man is in the form of his life and it would be silly to not have the leading goal-scorer of the league in your team. Let alone he’s still much cheaper than most of the premier forwards. He has scored 17 goals along with 5 assists. Given the form his team and he is in, it’s no surprise that he’s the most owned player right now. The only tough fixture he has for now is against Liverpool but you can’t really bet that he won’t score against even them, can you?
4. Kevin De Bryune [£10.4m]
He is the magician who pulls the strings for the majority of Manchester City’s attack. His usual partner in crime, Sergio Aguero was absent in recent weeks and that somewhat regressed his output too. Now that the Argentinian is back and City have the luxury of good fixtures until gameweek 24, Kevin De Bryune is going to punish every owner that transfers him out.
If stats do a better job at convincing, you must know that this player has scored 12 goals so far along with 7 assists. Hope this is good enough to throw money on this man.
5. Çağlar Söyüncü [£5.1m]
Leicester City’s defenders did draw a healthy amount of scepticism when Harry Maguire left for Manchester United. However, Leicester are surprisingly revitalised at the back ever since this man joined the club. With 7 clean sheets so far this season, Söyüncü’s price and Leicester’s form make him an amazing asset. Let alone there are many teams that are defending well this season. So it’s better to stick with a few only.
There are some other players like Todd Cantwell, Marcus Rashford and Nick Pope as well but they belong to the second tier of must-haves this season.
