As the taste of turkey fades, the Yuletide mist dissipates, and we come to terms with the damage we’ve done to our wallets, our waistlines, and in some cases our reputations…
Welcome to our FantasyFootball 247 Leagues round up – including our first Monthly Hall of Fame inductee!
The Season League
Well, a rapid and at times fairly crazy few game weeks have passed since we last checked in on our leader board, (a mere two real world weeks ago!) but some things in life can be relied upon. We’re not referring to Potty’s fleeting relationship with reality, nor the fact that Mito may be the most connected man alive, but to our league leader. Barntons Bashers hold on to their top position in our main league after GW20. Now ranked 62 globally(!) with 1,349 points, it’s difficult for any of us to feel bad about being “second best” to this powerhouse of a team. In fact, with a launchpad such as this, at this stage of the season, dare we say anything is possible…? But let’s not jinx one of our board regulars!
Moving up from fifth to second spot, with 1,312 points, and somehow now at 835 in the global ranks, is James101. Just 13 points further back, rising five places to third spot, our own Cookie on 1,299 points leads a group of 3 teams within 3 points of each other. Those being Robin Van Pricey, still at forth, and The knights of ni a new entrant to our top ten in fifth place.
Our mid-month ranking’s number three, Shane-PAIN FC continue to score solidly but fell to sixth in our league table, though the gap back to third is a only fifteen points, so little more than an inspired captain choice away! Seventh in our table, just 4 points further back, is last time’s number two, Herewegoagain, followed closely, two points behind, by new top ten entrant Peps Packers. Mr Bean and Michu’s Grassy Ass make up our top ten, all of whom, we are pleased to note, are within the global top 7000 ranked teams!
A special mention must go to JTFC, who rose fast with a creditable 60 points last week, to 11th place in our rankings, only two points off our top ten, and only a captains choice off ninth spot, but it’s tough to blame anyone for betting on Suarez… Well JTFC, are you a sprinter or a marathon man? We look forward to seeing where you are next update!
The Monthly League
So we reach our first month end, and with it name our first Fantasy Football 247 Monthly League winner. Well, you’d not need Glen Hoddle’s clairvoyant friend to help you guess this one – yes, the scarily good Barntons Bashers had a hell of a month, racking up 473 points, 24 clear of the rest of us! As we wrote above, with that kind of a score you simply have to tip your hat and say well done, luck’s got nothing to do with it. And so we induct B Bash into our monthly Hall of Fame, and wonder who will take the title next time round!
In joint second spot, mid-month number two, The Untouchables and number one, X-treme, scored a very impressive 449 points in December. This would probably top a lot of leagues, but standards are high at FF247, and we want them to stay that way! Up from seventh to fourth spot, and only 4 points behind, is James101, with Serendipity storming up the ranks, delivering 442 points for December to take fifth.
In sixth place for December, is Cookie, another manager who continues to perform solidly in both our leagues. On 437 points and in seventh spot, scoring only one less than Cookie, is our comms genius, Mito. Again, a single point behind, Bryan Munich scored 436 to place eighth for the month, with our top doubles team of elleffcee and inittowinit’s team Aditupem, coming in at ninth with 435 points. Making up our top ten are indecisive fc and inter ma’nan on 434 points.
So, while B-Bash stole the show for the month of December, and was a worthy winner, it’s definitely worth noting that second to tenth spots were separated by a mere 15 points across the month. Everything to play for we think – so bring on the January monthly managers league!
(Many thanks to elleffcee as always, for verifying the monthly league positions – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly standings that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.)

Right so this is my WC team at present
Marshall, Mannone
Baines, Sagna, Kos, Ward, Chester
Ozil, Hazard, Osca, Barkley, Mutch
Suarez, Negrado, Adebayor
WC Team:
Mignolet-McGregor
Coleman-Koscielny-Bardsley-Ward-Shaw
Ozil-Hazard-Lallana-Silva-Mutch
Adebayor-Suarez-Lukaku
Enough funds left in the Bank to Lukaku – Aguero
1, I could go Marshall/Ruddy as keepers which will allow for Mutch – Barkley or ANO
2, Or another combo (double up on Arsenal or Chelsea)
3, Instead of Ozil I could have Eriksen and do Eriksen – Ramsey on his return
Thanks
Ripcurl, I like no. 3, I went for Eriksen over Ozil last night with a view to changing it in a couple of GWs with my WC if it doesn’t work out. Is this your provisional WC team or is it active? If it’s active then maybe Ozil is the safer play, though that extra 3m could be very handy..
All aboard the Eriksen hypetrain. We all know how long it lasted last time. 😉
Too riight raz. A 1 wk punt maybe good against palace tho
Would be a 1Wk punt 😉
That’s why I only brought him in when I know I will be using the WC in a couple of weeks. Plus under a new manager and has played almost as many minutes in the last 4 games as he had in the whole rest of the season up to that point. What’s the downside?
Only downside is hes not a keeper. If yr not using him as a season keeper then go for it i say
Its Active
What about the keepers?
Guys does anyone think gnabry will be replacing walcott for now, could be a bargain?
Maybe. Not regular enough for me tho
After much debating I have activated my wildcard.
current team:
Szcz (mcGregor)
Coleman, Skrtel, Bardsley (Chester, Whittaker)
hazard, Gerrard, yaya, Ozil (Barkley)
Adebayor, Negredo, Suarez
My plan would be to do ozil – Lallana, negredo – aguero when aguero is fit.
I am not happy with the defence, I think Skrtel should be out but not sure who to replace with. £0.2 in bank.
Any builds on defence or anything you think I should change in the team?
Serendipity, unless you have those two keepers because they rotate very well, a cheaper way into LIV and ARS defence would be Migs and Kos/Sagna, giving you a precious extra 0.4 to play with. With this you could get Remy in for Ade, or even Podolski if you were feeling a bit daring.
I chose Szcz & mcGregor because they rotated well but expect to play Szcz most often. I was thinking about not having any Liverpool defence as they never seem to keep a clean sheet. I will have a look at other combination though as 0.4 would come in handy!
i think i concur with the negredo to aguero idea.i dont think whittaker will get that much game time and your bench might just come in handy so i think you should get a regular cheapie
Yeh not sure on those cheap defenders, do you have any suggestions?
Maybe Ward (Palace)
hello everyone and hi Cookie..what have you been up to?
allo Killer, all good mate – how are you ?
im doing fine cookie.atm im just having a hard time keeping my trigger finger from activating my january wildcard.have you activated yours?
Not yet Killer, mulling it over….I can justify playing it and holding it, so don’t know what to do !!!
same here.who do you plan n replacing wally with?
Ozil, Killer. I think he’s a no brainer, if affordable.
I went for Santi hey, Cookie. Differential and all
Too inconsistent for me Milky – if he was 8.5mln fair enough, but Ozil at 9.9mln and Caz at 9.5mln…..its worth paying up if poss.
yea im thinking him or silva
Hey lads – still torn over how to proceed, so would love all your thoughts. Basically boils down to:
1- Improved midfield leaving not enough cash to bring in Kun straight away in gw23 for no hit…or
2- Weakened midfield with 4.5 in bank to go Lukaku > Aguero for no hit.
WC Team1:
Speroni, KDavis,
Coleman, Mert, Chester, Ward, Whittaker
Hazard, Ozil, Silva, Lallana, Mutch
Suarez, Lukaku, JRod
WC Team2:
Speroni, KDavis
Coleman, Koscielny, Bardsley, Chester, Ward
Hazard, Ozil, Silva, Whittingham, Parker
Suarez, Lukaku, JRod
Open to all other possibilities in the different price brackets. Ideas? Cheers!!
Team 2 doesn’t actually look that much worse to me mate so I’d go with that if it allows you to do a hit-free transfer that you’re aiming towards.
Team 1 for me but without whittaker.i dont think he is a regular
Cheers CalvinClyne & KI. I’d upgrade Whittaker to Bardsley or Willimason if I changed Mert to Kosc. Still no idea which way to go!
