Fantasy Football League Round-up

FF247 League Updates GW20 FPL Fantasy Premier League

league-codes-banner-002

As the taste of turkey fades, the Yuletide mist dissipates, and we come to terms with the damage we’ve done to our wallets, our waistlines, and in some cases our reputations…

Welcome to our FantasyFootball 247 Leagues round up – including our first Monthly Hall of Fame inductee!

The Season League

Well, a rapid and at times fairly crazy few game weeks have passed since we last checked in on our leader board, (a mere two real world weeks ago!) but some things in life can be relied upon. We’re not referring to Potty’s fleeting relationship with reality, nor the fact that Mito may be the most connected man alive, but to our league leader. Barntons Bashers hold on to their top position in our main league after GW20. Now ranked 62 globally(!) with 1,349 points, it’s difficult for any of us to feel bad about being “second best” to this powerhouse of a team. In fact, with a launchpad such as this, at this stage of the season, dare we say anything is possible…? But let’s not jinx one of our board regulars!

Moving up from fifth to second spot, with 1,312 points, and somehow now at 835 in the global ranks, is James101. Just 13 points further back, rising five places to third spot, our own Cookie on 1,299 points leads a group of 3 teams within 3 points of each other. Those being Robin Van Pricey, still at forth, and The knights of ni a new entrant to our top ten in fifth place.

Our mid-month ranking’s number three, Shane-PAIN FC continue to score solidly but fell to sixth in our league table, though the gap back to third is a only fifteen points, so little more than an inspired captain choice away! Seventh in our table, just 4 points further back, is last time’s number two, Herewegoagain, followed closely, two points behind, by new top ten entrant Peps Packers. Mr Bean and Michu’s Grassy Ass make up our top ten, all of whom, we are pleased to note, are within the global top 7000 ranked teams!

A special mention must go to JTFC, who rose fast with a creditable 60 points last week, to 11th place in our rankings, only two points off our top ten, and only a captains choice off ninth spot, but it’s tough to blame anyone for betting on Suarez… Well JTFC, are you a sprinter or a marathon man? We look forward to seeing where you are next update!

The Monthly League

So we reach our first month end, and with it name our first Fantasy Football 247 Monthly League winner. Well, you’d not need Glen Hoddle’s clairvoyant friend to help you guess this one – yes, the scarily good Barntons Bashers had a hell of a month, racking up 473 points, 24 clear of the rest of us! As we wrote above, with that kind of a score you simply have to tip your hat and say well done, luck’s got nothing to do with it. And so we induct B Bash into our monthly Hall of Fame, and wonder who will take the title next time round!

In joint second spot, mid-month number two, The Untouchables and number one, X-treme, scored a very impressive 449 points in December. This would probably top a lot of leagues, but standards are high at FF247, and we want them to stay that way! Up from seventh to fourth spot, and only 4 points behind, is James101, with Serendipity storming up the ranks, delivering 442 points for December to take fifth.

In sixth place for December, is Cookie, another manager who continues to perform solidly in both our leagues. On 437 points and in seventh spot, scoring only one less than Cookie, is our comms genius, Mito. Again, a single point behind, Bryan Munich scored 436 to place eighth for the month, with our top doubles team of elleffcee and inittowinit’s team Aditupem, coming in at ninth with 435 points. Making up our top ten are indecisive fc and inter ma’nan on 434 points.

So, while B-Bash stole the show for the month of December, and was a worthy winner, it’s definitely worth noting that second to tenth spots were separated by a mere 15 points across the month. Everything to play for we think – so bring on the January monthly managers league!

(Many thanks to elleffcee as always, for verifying the monthly league positions – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly standings that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.)

    MarkGL says:

Morning all… I was going to sit on my wildcard for another week but the Walcott and Cabaye injuries have made me reconsider slightly.

    Potential WC Team:

    Szczesney, (Speroni)
    Chester, Williamson, Kompany, Olsson, Coleman
    Silva, Lallana, Ozil, Sterling, Eriksen
    Lukaku, Suarez, JRod

That leaves me with 1.9m to go towards Aguero when he is back. The lack of Yaya and Hazard is a slight concern on my first WC draft. Any thoughts?

      Albertini says:

MarkGL – You have Silva in there so Yaya shouldn’t be a concern but the lack of Hazard or Oscar it is.
I reckon Sterling will have game time problems when Sturridge is almost back, maybe you should consider another option there. A cheaper mid like Mutch (although currently injured) would free some funds also to help you bring Aguero in when he’s back.

      The B says:

Gerrard has recovered and Sturridge should be back in a GW or 2. You sure you still want Sterling there?

Id stay away from Williamson. The back line of Newcastle is shaky at the moment with absence of Debuchy and Coloccini while Krul is a doubt, which means clean sheets wont come easily.

Cant see how you will be able to afford Aguero with just 2M, Id suggest dump Kompany for Clyne/Shaw/Nasty.

      Thanks for the comments…

I agree on Sterling having limited game time.

I am well prepared to take a hit to bring Aguero in. I would rather have a strong squad now and take the hit rather than limit it just for Aguero who for all we know may struggle to start with when back from injury.

    Morning Guys,
Seems many of us are in the same situation playing our WC due to the Rooney, Wally injuries etc. & that’s me included also sad
So take a look at my new WC team and advise where possible I can change / twist / stick on my selections :
    Mannone, ( McGregor )
Coleman, Skrtel, Koscielny, ( Chester, Ward )
Ozil, Silva, Hazard, Eriksen, ( Sterling )
Suarez (C), Negredo, Adebayor ( VC)
    Bank : 2.1M
So i’m trying to build a little team value because wanting to change Negredo to KUN once fighting fit.
Also thinking if Eriksen increases again before Saturday to get in Gerrard instead of him but unsure ?
Major dilemna here because anticipating needing another 0.3M for the KUN transfer later.
Help please guys with your words of wisdom & advice smile
    Thanks in advance guys !

      MarkGL says:

I wouldn’t have a liverpool defender, the team rarely keeps clean sheets despite their good form so maybe downgrade Skrtel to free up a little more money for Kun.

I am anticipating taking a hit for Aguero when the time comes.

      • Marky1boo says:

        Hi MarkGL,
Valid point mate, could well do that but maybe in 4GW’s as they have some nice fixtures & don’t anticipate KUN back for atleast 3GW’s as can’s see Pelegrini rushing him back ?
Who would you slot into def instead of Skrtel then in your opinion ?

    • 26.2
      The B says:

Dont think its wise to double up on Hull by having both McGregor and Chester.

Not too sold on Strtel, dont trust Liverpool enough to keep CS, maybe get a SOTON defender?

Midfield is good but Sterling’s game time will decline as both Gerrard and Sturridge are returning.

      • Marky1boo says:

        Hi B,
Valid points again but looking for BUDGET playing keepers to rotate & looking to bench Chester & Ward mostly playing 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 when have to so I can keep finances for KUN.
Agree with Sterling & will ship him out before end of the WC this week for cheaper option BUT WHO ? … made 0.1M on his price increase but again maybe bring Barkley back as a bench warmer or go somebody like Kasami & bank 0.7M to upgrade keeper to Boruc / Foster ? …
        What’s your thoughts there B ?

        • The B says:

Marky im going with Koren as 5th mid who i will never use, he is 4.5M and takes free kicks. So far i have used my 5th mid only once, so it makes sense to buy the cheapest option available.

But if youre gonna use a 5th mid, like you said you are open to 3-5-2 in future, then Whittingham would be my choice.

If your plan is on getting J Rod as well in future to fund Aguero, then you should know that after GWs Whittingham and JayRod rotate well, i think, as far as i know.

          Cheers. smile

        • Marky1boo says:

Nice, just looking at doing that Koren move but do you think Kasami or Parker would be better option as my 5th whilst getting more game time @ only 4.4M ? …
I could utilise the extra saving into my keeper you think ?

    Shadow says:

So, obviously Walcott is going to be transferred out, who should I bring in?

Got 9.5 so exactly enough for Cazorla at the minute, worth a punt until I play my WC where I also plan to bring Aguero back in.

Or should I try Lallana or maybe double up on Chelsea and get Oscar?

    Any thoughts welcome!

    Hello guys,
    RMT please. Pre WC.
    Mannone (Marshall)

Wildcard active? Wondering how teams compare just past the half way mark of the season? Here’s some data on attacking and defensive effectiveness.
ASPM (Average shots per match, higher is better)
ASPGS (Average shots per goal scored, lower is better)
ASFPM (Average shots faced per match, lower is better)
ASFPGC (Average shots faced per goal conceded, higher is better)
